I got a TDI box for my Merc A200 W177 a couple of years ago and I swear by it. 163bhp stock and 201bhp quoted (not been on a dyno yet), but its really transformed it, its more responsive, the engine runs at lower RPM without issues, and the extra power really is very noticeable in all gears, plus I went from 40mpg to 50mpg so its a win win! i've just ordered another for my BMW X1 so fingers crossed that gets the same treatment
@@torquecars not great unfortunately 🤣 I have the xDrive 20i model 2020 spec, and for some reason the tuning chip didn't work at all, 0 increase in power which was so so odd, I spoke to TDI tuning about it and they reckon like 1 in 1000 cars just don't accept tuning chips, so disappointing as the B48 has so much headroom in it. Other than that, the X1 is an incredible car!
They are pretty easy, I don't know the Insignia in detail but most if not all of these have just two leads (4 plugs) - that go into the car and it's just a matter of disconnecting and reconnecting, the instructions are really well laid out. The TDi tuning guys offer really good support.
i have the older version of this TDI box in my mondeo, do you think a newer version box like the one you've displayed would be better and more up to date or is it the same software just new casing?🤔 i did find a nice increase in power but definitely not what they're advertising 😅
I got a brand new company car on order VW mk 8 Golf GTD and interested in a tuning box. The only thing that worries me is around getting caught with one by dealer when goes in for a service and potentially insurance consequences because I intend to say nothing to anyone about it. The main concern for me is how easy it is to get caught with a tuning box?
I would always encourage people to be upfront with insurers/dealers/employers etc - the worst case scenario is when the car is totaled and taken away from the scene of the accident and later inspected. IMO the risk is too great, and in most cases people involved like insurers and employers won't mind, especially if your aim was primarily to get better fuel economy. In my experience a tuning box is completely undetectable once it has been removed from the car, a process that only takes a few minutes. Fitting it for the first time will take a complete novice around 15 minutes.
Well I found out today, The that exact Box that exact same car, was somehow causing the engine to run not right And the fuel wasn't firing correctly There was apparently multiple codes saying misfires but I don't think that's the right word for a diesel engine but basically it didn't work... And when the Box was removed, Those codes went away is what the shop told me.
This video may help you out... th-cam.com/video/m293bpcTLCA/w-d-xo.html Stock factory maps are very very relaxed and cope with all sorts of issues and problems, however any kind of tuning be it a remap, tuning box, or aftermarket ECU will push the envelope and may show up problems in the engine. Typically injectors are not quite up to the job, the turbo or wastegate or recirc valve is starting to wear or the DPF or Cats are not as efficient as they were, it's similar to old injuries that we have that crop up when we push ourselves in say a 10k run, that weakness didn't matter until we started to push harder but it was still there. It is also possible you had a faulty unit or one of the connectors was failing intermittently, in which case the supplier of the tuning box would be happy to offer support and replacement or help with diagnosis.

Please let me know how you get on with the x1, I have a video planned in production for this car so am gathering as many facts as I can right now.

Hi I’m looking to get a tdi box for my merc a200 W177 was it worth it ? Did you have any issues? How much power did you gain?
Hi, good video thanks .
I have a 2.0 cdti 2014 Vauxhall insignia. How difficult or easy are these to install ? Thanks
