The big, British grand tourer is a thing of beauty. The history books are littered with fine examples of GT cars from iconic brands such as Aston Martin and Bentley.
They combine performance, luxury and style, but now we’ve got two new examples from these marques that claim to fill that void just as well as their forebears. Both newcomers feature 12-cylinder engines, have a 2+2 seating layout and combine stunning coupé styling with a massive amount of performance and touring potential.

Really? The only way you guys compared the two cars directly was with a drag race? Come on Auto Express, you can do better
Both drivers mention the cars are 2+2 GT's but do we see the rear seats, we do not. No mention of accommodation or luggage capacity only which is fastest in a drag race! Seems like a nice day out for the boys but with no useful information, clearly not aimed at anyone thinking of buying these cars.
Or anybody watching the video for entertainment. Waste. Of. Time.

The Bentley has full size seats at the back. It can accomodate 4 people.The Aston has a parcel shelf!
I’m not the biggest fan of the new Aston interiors especially compared to the Bentley they just look busy and kinda cheep.
I agree the new Bentley interiors tho on the other hand are by far one of the bests in any car especially when fully specced up

Thank goodness it’s not just me then! In fact nothing from this century stirs my blood from then, all a bit bland for a supercar.
Initially I jerked my knee a bit, but I will admit you're right here. I don't dislike either car's interiors, I quite like the Aston's, but you lot have it right: It looks nothing like a luxury car should. The Bentley's interior is every bit as pompous as the Aston's isn't, and it's disappointing.
Can't believe I'll say this but the Bentley looks better for me than the Aston inside out.

Awesome Video! I just bought the BENTLEY! Traded in my Rolls Royce Wraith for one. And I LOVE it! Just back from Road Trip Round SCOTLAND (1,500 miles), AMAZING! Super luxury but also brings a massive grin when you want to push on and have some fun! Probably the best car I've ever owned! Always looking for an excuse to go for a drive!
The Aston, sounds better, and is lighter, bit more sporty, but the bentley is still massive fun, but that interior is even better than my Rolls Royce!
A drag race? REALLY? Why not take them for an actual grand tour and make a video worth watching. Plus, the first guy needs to learn some enthusiasm. I could do better

Did you even watch the video? 3/4 of it was them touring around mountain roads. They closed with a drag race, probably because speed sells.
Mountain roads isn’t grand touring, going on big long road trips is grand touring. Wouldn’t it be better to watch them circumnavigate Iceland in a day or visit Kyrgyzstan for fun? Drag races aren’t fun to watch - and if they are, search for it in the search bar, there’s plenty on line. This was a cheap shot (literally) AutoExpress should do better.
DB11 is closer to a Sports car than a GT actually. And that is not a bad thing.

@@lounge9539 I suppose if you like your car to look the same as nigh every Bentley and rolls from the last 20 years, then sure. It may have the better interior of the two, but the Aston's exterior is living in the modern times, and I just can't say that with the Bentley.

I love Aston, but this Bentley beats the DBS in every area, bar none. The Aston was impressive until this thing was released.

Seems like the bentley wins hands down,, realistically how many people are gonna buy these cars to drive on a track? Bentley appears to have something special about it, such performance wrapped up in outstanding luxury ...I don't know what unique characteristics the aston has or for what reason? Aston seem to be off the pace with it competitor , S coupe / bentley conte

Talking about the Aston being a better GT car because it handles better... that's not what a GT car is about. A GT car is comfortable, handles decently, and can cover vast distances at speed without wearing out the driver... and out of these two cars, the only one I'd call a GT is the Bentley Continental GT. The Aston is a bloated sports car masquerading as a GT.
I struggle to like the Aston from all angles. I feel the Aston is “boy racer” and a bit over designed. I prefer the restraint and evolutionary design of the Bentley - in and out.

I love the look and feel of the GT but knowing it’s a VW product underneath would irk me. Also love the Aston brawn and that bonnet racing stripe meeting the windscreen edge and linking to the gap between the seats through the windscreen.....that’s detail. Aston all the way 👍

Two great cars - I'm surprised in myself to say that I prefer the Bentley both inside and out (with the exception of rear end styling). Also - James Batchelor is doing great and growing into his role; forget the haters! Great review overall.
I’ll take both, with the Bentley as the daily and the Aston as the weekend car
I don't think the continental GT was over 1100 rpm for more than 5 seconds
I do find the Bentley very pretty. It has this classic charm brought to modern standards. Bentley Conti + Aston Martin Vantage + 911 GT3 is the perfect garage. A gradual transition from the GT to the track-street-legal weapon

The Bentley review was superb and it really has some art deco elements. Love it!
You guys forgot to evaluate makes a 12 cylinder a 12 cylinder: smoothness and sound. Therefore the winner should in large part be based on which engine is smoother and sounds better.
Both are gorgeous cars. I think I’d rather have the DB11 though from the looks alone.
Ready for the supersport or gt3r.
The Aston all day long. Bentley is a brilliant car. Excellent in every department. However The Aston is simply beautiful.
Bentley Continental any day for me. Looks stunning, the interior is gorgeous and I just love the fact that it has all the luxury I could ever want and yet when I want it to be fast, it is.

We want to see the interior too... You were in it, not us :) The Continental is to me the best. It can do everything : comfort, sport, speed, space, elegance, maybe the best car on earth !

It breaks my heart to say that the Bentley looks better. DB is a very beautiful car but no longer the most beautiful.
The Bentley should have been more closer to the EXP 10 Speed 6 than the previous gen Conti GT. Missed opportunity here, which is why I can't agree with the reviewers' views on the attractiveness of the Conti.

Love the design of the Bentley, but the bendy plastichrome grille is totally unacceptable. It would be mocked and ridiculed on a Hyundai. It's shockingly bad on a car that is so thoughtfully designed in every other way.
I known that is printed in 3D, but though that was metal. Is plastic?

You know, I just assumed it is because the grill has been obvious cheap plastic on the previous two generations of the Conti. So I don't really know for sure when it comes to the new one. Looking forward to seeing one in person.

Bentley for it's all around package. Pretty sure you couldn't daily drive the DB11 AMR compared to the bentley
Bentley has more value than Aston in terms of boot space,everyday use ability ,more involving interiors. If vanquish was there in place of db11 ,it would be tougher choice between two. I m surprised gt weighed 200 kilos more than db11 but gots off the line better than db11

Why are we so hung up on sound, 0-60 times, etc, etc. These are SUPPOSED to be GT Cars. The Bentley is a true GT car. The Aston... a sports car. Aston keep saying they have produced a true GT car, they had in the 1960’s.

I was afraid i was gonna have to write this... I have a bit presentiment over Bentley,as i hate literally everything that comes out from VAG company,sponsored,designed or owned. And on the other hand,i always loved Astons for their V12s,sexy design and jewel like craftmanship. Now though,that Aston doesnt come even close to that Bentley. Not in style,not interior,and definitely not build quality. That V12,big part of it lays up front its axles. Everyone who knows handling knows what it means. Then the design is nothing but just okay. After the ONE 77 this is such a downgrade. Interior..,grey and cheap. The flip screen that was taken from Volvo before still stays and its so outdated,that they would have done way better without it at all. Power wise,sure,V12 twin turbo engine has lots of it. But in 2018 people expect much more than that.
Aston for me. Looks better, drives better, sounds better and doesn't make me look like an old fart or a footballer. On a motorway/B road faster too
