    Purchased the advance pro 1 last month, swapped some components from my trance (XO1 AXS drivetrain, Rockshox AXS dropper with saddle and Renthal carbon cockpit). On the first day of use uphill, there was a significant brake rub in the rear, an adjustment to the caliper solved the problem. Been using the unit on aggressive trails (uphill & descents) for 2 months now. Stay safe everyone...

    • @brad2579
      @brad2579 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jong Feliciano how’d you adjust the calliper so it wouldn’t rub?? Also how does the bike handle riding on road? (To and from trail heads).. I’m thinking about purchasing one soon

      Adjusted the caliper with an aid of a feeler gauge, the clearance on the right side of the rotor is wider than the left side of the rotor. The bike handles well on the road, but of course with minions, have not tried them yet on wet roads. Another thing, this climbs better that my Trance 27.5. Hope this will help in your decision.

    • @brad2579
      @brad2579 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jong Feliciano thanks for that mate! How did you find the Fox shox? Would it be worth looking at the Reign advanced pro 2 with the rockshox? Or do you think it’s worth spending that little extra on purchasing the reign advanced pro 1?

      The color is one of my preference that made me decided for the pro1. But as per most of MTB riders I know, they would prefer the Rockshox, for it is easily dialed and once dialed they hardly change.

      @@jongfeliciano1357 Wow, does it really climb better than your Trance? I also have a 2015 Trance and was afraid of it maybe not climbing as well. But the geometry might be so much more modern that it outweighs the negatives of a burlier bike I guess.

    I have noticed on 29ers in general if you have larger discs they are more prone to brake rub under power. I've learnt to live with mine.

    Love giant but they do make some odd choices. They went full 29er then went 27.5 and now are moving back to 29er. They also had a few years of the overdrive 2 headset, that they thought everyone would adopt.
    I have a 2012 reign 0 and love the bike. I've seen that over the years giant has made the reign better, but having a rear triangle that flexs isn't good.
    I do plan on one day replacing my giant reign with a new one.

    Just my 2 cents. I got the alloy version of this bike (Reign 1) a couple weeks ago. Haven't noticed any rear brake rub so maybe they fixed it on the production bikes or it only affects the carbon frames. As a short rider (165cm) on a small size frame, my main complaint is that the standover and seat tube length are too big. They're basically the exact same numbers as the medium frame. With the dropper post slammed all the way down, the saddle height is, thankfully, just right so it still fits. Also the stock saddle is pretty trash and the engagement of the rear hub is not the greatest. Overall though, I'd say the bike is pretty hard to beat for the price. I can't quite make my mind up if this is an enduro bike or a burly trail bike, which may be good or bad depending on what you're looking for. And Giant finally did something about their god awful paint jobs.

    The bike is solid and my Ebike conversion went great. th-cam.com/users/postUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L Very smooth ride at 30mph with no problems (135 miles ridden so far). The picture is a bit deceiving - there is WAY less space in the center of the frame than it shows. The suspension connection takes up the entire thing. So I needed to attach my battery on the bottom of the frame and my controller on the top. Instructions for assembly were lacking but honestly it wasn't too hard to figure out even though I have very little bike knowledge. Watched some youtube videos on adjusting the disk brakes but that was it. Still, I am loving it and very happy with the purchase.

      The bike had a fox factory 36mm forks and factory X2 shock so same as the YT the only things that I didn't transfer over was the wheels as the Yt had carbon wheels I even took off the tyres as had a maxis DHF and a rockrazor on the rear and have all my GPS polar m infor on the same forest track I ride 5 times a week and the YT was 3mph through the trees on the same gearing 12 sram. The YT now has vorsprung coil front conversion and Fox factory DHX2 coil and I wouldn't ride air suspension ever again. I ride a lot and keep all my all my readings and the old reign was good but I cant see carbon wheels only making the difference so Hay Ho!
