That verse - "I want to say a litte something that's long overdue, that disrespecting women has got to be through.." was written and rapped by Adam Yauch, AKA MCA. He said in interviews that he was nervous about bringing it to the other guys. There was so much objectification of women in rap, he didn't know how his bandmates or the public would react to it. But Mike D. and Ad-Rock were totally accepting and supportive of that verse, as were the public when the song was released. When MCA died in 2012, it made the evening news. Every news cast I watched that reported on his death showed a clip of him rapping, and they always chose that verse. Same with every TV show I watched that paid tribute to him. That verse, which he so deeply felt needed to be said, and was so scared would end his career as a rapper has become one of his most enduring legacies.

@@DublinJimmy80 ah what do you have a problem with? I can assure you I'm right. Here lll provide a source you dolt. Beastie Mania dot Com
      Doctor Dré
When asked to name off the people who have acted as Beastie Boys Djs, most fans are quick to answer with DJ Hurricane and/or Mix Master Mike. Those who know their Beastie Boys history may also add DJ Double R (Rick Rubin) to that short list, although a few people will say "Doctor Dré;" and those who do will cringe as they say it. The cringe is not because of the man's skills on the turntable; instead, it is due to the fact that so many people get Doctor Dré (formerly of Yo MTV Raps) confused with Dr. Dre (formerly of N.W.A.). Unless the person is educated when it comes to hip hop's history, explaining the difference between the two can be as frustrating as the whole Chemical Brothers/Dust Brothers debacle.
To set everyone straight, the Doctor Dré we are talking about is the one who (along with Ed Lover) used to host a show on MTV called Yo MTV Raps. Dré and Ed also made a movie together entitled "Who's the Man", which you may have seen. Doctor Dré proceeded DJ Hurricane on the turntables and was quick to defend the Beastie Boys honor on Yo MTV Raps when the 3rd Bass vs. the Beastie Boys controversy began. Using his show as a platform, he openly endorsed the Beastie Boys and dismissed attempts of rap journalists to incite the two groups into a rivalry.
Following MTV's move to non-music video programming and the cancellation of Yo MTV Raps, Doctor Dré took his comedic personality into radio broadcasting career.

DJ hurricane was their DJ for about 10-12 years. He mostly contributed on stage but here and there came up with some lyrics or hooks. The part “MCA come and rock the the sure shot” was his idea... and it’s his voice saying it through a phone. Beasties called him up at 3 am asking him to say it so they could record it over the phone 😆

OK, loving your vids so far! Some recommendations (apologies if you're already seen!): if you liked how to save a life by the fray, react to 'dead boy's by sam fender (a northern english singer, sings about his experience growing up there, if you like bluesy stuff, 'lead me home' by jamie n commons is good, if you like harmonies then anything by fleet foxes (esp 'mykonos', 'the shrine/an argument' and 'winter hymnal') and if you like oldies then 'driver's seat' by sniff 'n' the tears and 'golden brown' by the stranglers. Also if you like music videos that actually match the music 'riptide' by vance joy is good.
