All generation 2 Pokémon games have different sprites than each version, and you forgot Pokémon silver. You also forgot the mega evolution for the Kanto starters in Pokémon let’s go.

I wonder if everyone here realized, in each generation, most of the fire starter got much more attention or favouritism from GF or Pokemon Company, in-game wise (moveset, stats) and marketing-wise (anime, merchandise).
I mean the average person thinks fire type cool and don't appreciate the simple but nice water and grass types and people like them more so it's free money for the Pokemon company; And think of the fan favorite of each gen; gen 1 Charmander, gen 2 cyndaquil, gen 3 it's split even since they are all really good, gen 4 chimchar, gen 5 is split since they all suck, gen 6 Greninja, gen 7 decidueye and incineroar are liked equally, gen 8 is a mess. Final result fire wins The gen 5 starters are fine but most people don't like them and I'm not the Emboar sucks guy since he's my favorite of all 3 they objectively are the worst snivy becomes bigger snake and oshawatt goes duwatt ok to samurott which is what is this it's not bad but what is this Gen 8 is a mess since no one has a fan favorite but the pokemon company sure loves cinderace

So... During gen 1 the favoritism was for Charizard, obviously. In gen 2 people really loved Thyplosion, but GF didn't really make favoritism there. In gen 3 obviously Blaziken and Sceptile where the most loved one, but I'd say more Blaziken since Treecko, Grovyle and Sceptile obtained even more attention after Mystery Dungeon 2, when Gen4 was a thing. During gen4 they obviously preferred Infernape. As for gen 5, I think it's the same as gen 2. No favourite one. In gen 6 the favourite one was Greninja, no doubt. It was fricking everywhere. Then we had gen 7 with Decidueye being the popular starter, but they really didn't took the bait and gave love to both him (Pokkén) and Incineroar (Smash). No one really gave a shit about Primarina apprently (and I am one of them... I love Popplio so much I beated the game without evolving him, Primarina it's just atrocious). Now they are obviously making favouritisim for Cinderace (wich is, in my opinion, the worst starter ever created, it's basically an Internet furry playing football), since he is the anime as the starter of his major protagonist and they spam him in trailers and so on. So for the popular ones, we have 5 Fire types, 2 Grass types and... 1 water type.
The DS Pokémon sprites are still my personal favorite sprites in any Pokémon game in my opinion. It's amazing how good they still look after all these years.

In Ultra-Sun/Ultra-Moon (Idk if it’s also the case in Sun/Moon), the starter will even get out of its Pokéball to look at the player right before they come in the League (sorry about the spelling error, my first language is French), showing us how much it grew up since its first interaction with the player.
Gen 4 being the starting point of my Pokemon adventures im really disappointed that the only games you see those starters are in the games of their own generation. I loved how important and exiting the moment was when they evolved in the original games, it was all sparkly and looked like you just got a brand new Pokémon, but in Galar they made it quick and less meaningful, just hits different. I loved feeling the feeling when your first ever Pokémon grew up, to which mine was a Fennekin named Sir Motens cus my 7 year old mind thought it was a male when it was female

Eh I like that it’s faster. I don’t really know what you mean by them making the evolution less meaningful, it’s probably just the fact that your first starter wasn’t from galar maybe? In my opinion I like the galar one more because I was really excited to see what they would look like when they evolved. Plus I never liked the fact that evolutions took so godamn long, even tho my first started was from gen 5
I don’t know if its just me being old or I think that the magic of Pokemon is still in the older ones. Back in the days where gameplay is simple but we look stupid as we marvel the gameplay and excitement when your Pokemon is evolving and learning new attacks (we didn’t even own the game cartridge). The time that EV/IV does not matter and the game is not competitive. The time that an 8-bit game has more mysteries/secrets over the present games today. Good ol’days.
Personally, I wish we could still see the silhouette of the Pokemon that they're turning into. That way, for specific Pokemon such as Espeon/Umbreon, the Tyrogue line, etc. you can guarantee that you'll get the Evolution you want.
I remember the first time I witnessed the evolution of my pokemon back red and yellow (the first two pokemon games I owned). I felt an adrenaline and then excitement of my pokemon getting stronger. 🤗🤗❤️❤️❤️ It was a time when I didn't use guides and I just went with the flow..
Seeing the Gen 3 starters evolving(especially Torchic, who is my fave Gen 3 starter) gives me the nostalgic feels because of all the hardwork and training i give for them, seeing them all growing up.

I only miss the mega evolutions of the Kanto starters in Let's Go Pikachu/Eevee. But to see the evolutions per game side by side really is amazing. And now looking at Sword and Shield, I kinda love how short the evolution animation is.
There’s a certain charm to the gen 1 and 2 o.g art that I can’t describe and it can’t be replicated, it’s cool as well as slightly eerie matches the music and the atmosphere when you first get to lavender town in red blue and yellow
Kanto, Johto & Hoenn will always be the best starters for any pokemon series! Can't beat the OG's, everything afterwards became a stretch in my opinion
I'd like Gen 2 more if the Pokemon introduced were usable. We don't get access to good Johto Pokemon until the post game. One of my favorite Pokemon is Ledian but too bad it sucks ass. Had they not made so many Pokemon utter garbage in Johto, itd probably rank higher for me
The thing is that not everyone wants to sit through a evolution cutscene that is longer than 3 seconds. This is particularly worse if you're trying to complete the Dex or sth. The evolution cutscenes really gets boring when you've seen them multiple times.

I loved how important and exiting the moment was when they evolved in the original games, it was all sparkly and looked like you just got a brand new Pokémon, but in Galar they made it quick and less meaningful, just hits different. I loved feeling the feeling when your first ever Pokémon grew up, to which mine was a Fennekin named Sir Motens cus my 7 year old mind thought it was a male when it was female

In my opinion I like the galar one more because I was really excited to see what they would look like when they evolved. Plus I never liked the fact that evolutions took so godamn long, even tho my first started was from gen 5

I don’t know if its just me being old or I think that the magic of Pokemon is still in the older ones. Back in the days where gameplay is simple but we look stupid as we marvel the gameplay and excitement when your Pokemon is evolving and learning new attacks (we didn’t even own the game cartridge). The time that EV/IV does not matter and the game is not competitive. The time that an 8-bit game has more mysteries/secrets over the present games today. Good ol’days.
I agree I enjoyed battling for fun than grinding IVs just like yugioh having simple rules and now they charged with every new set of rules

Personally, I wish we could still see the silhouette of the Pokemon that they're turning into. That way, for specific Pokemon such as Espeon/Umbreon, the Tyrogue line, etc. you can guarantee that you'll get the Evolution you want.

There’s a certain charm to the gen 1 and 2 o.g art that I can’t describe and it can’t be replicated, it’s cool as well as slightly eerie matches the music and the atmosphere when you first get to lavender town in red blue and yellow

I'd like Gen 2 more if the Pokemon introduced were usable. We don't get access to good Johto Pokemon until the post game. One of my favorite Pokemon is Ledian but too bad it sucks ass. Had they not made so many Pokemon utter garbage in Johto, itd probably rank higher for me

I prefer those versions where evolution takes more than 3 seconds. Some are really fast and they aren't that spectacular.
The thing is that not everyone wants to sit through a evolution cutscene that is longer than 3 seconds. This is particularly worse if you're trying to complete the Dex or sth. The evolution cutscenes really gets boring when you've seen them multiple times.
