I loved The Jets!!! The original band consisted of the eight oldest children of Maikeli "Mike" and Vaké Wolfgramm, who were originally from the country of Tonga and settled in Minneapolis, MN. The family has 17 children: 15 by birth, and two, Eddie and Eugene, by adoption. The band initially called themselves They changed their name to "The Jets," which was taken from the Elton John song "Bennie and the Jets" on the suggestion of then-manager Don Powell.
Elizabeth, the lead singer is only 15 years old here. The Jets were a part of my childhood, growing up and listening to their music on the radio in the 80's all the way to the early 90's. They sang the title/theme to one of my favorite cartoons on TV "Chip N Dale: Rescue Rangers".
The band members last name is Wolfgramm. They are a group from Minneapolis, Minnesota. They weren't apart of the Prince legacy of performers from that area though. Elizabeth, the lead singer here and for most of their big songs, was only like 12 when their first album was released.
this song takes me right back to foster care.. and a particular painful period in my lifetime. The internal pain of being an orphan.. or feeling like one... almost killed me. This song is a love song, and it used to speak to me... hold a place in my heart and i never knew why. As a 50 yr old, looking back at the child i used to be.. I'm there for myself.. I always was. I"m the person I always was, but could never give a voice to... way back then. It's taken a lot of work to get here.. and recognize the various people i was as i grew throughout life. That might not make sense to you.. but it's a meaningful song. the song is a spiritual journey, a coming back to self.

They are Siblings! They are from a large, 17 siblings, family originally from Tonga but American from Minneapolis. They were discovered and played in Minneapolis the same time as Prince, but I don't know what connections they might have had. You can see in the videos that there are similarities, but that could just be the 80s in Minneapolis. I have also heard that they were somehow connected to the International Hawaiian Inn in Moorhead, MN. My Hometown.
Typically speakin, it usually is a man that's askin for another chance or a little redemption to keep it together and it could have been written originally for or by a man but either way... It's a beautiful song!
