About 2 years ago when I was cleaning out my closet based on the season change I realized i had SO many statement pieces, clothes I bought just bc they were on SALE (that didn’t fit well, or I couldn’t incorporate into my wardrobe with pieces I already had), and shoes I couldn’t even walk in but liked how they looked. I started calculating how much I spent on these things and was kind of sick about it. I’ve also transitioned from working in the office to being strictly remote and only getting “dressed, dressed” for an occasional event or weekend outing. I’ve downsized my closet DRAMATICALLY! I think you gave great tips on how to maximize your closet with pieces you love and actually wear. I’d love to see a finding a personal style video from you.
I stopped buying huge purses. I found that having a huge purse, only gave me more room to carry around more crap I didn't need to have with me every day. Life got WAAAAY too heavy.
Wigs and heels. I have the worst trouble finding heels in my size (11/12) that are comfortable for my heavy tall frame and they end up in my closet. And I got sucked into the lace front headband wig trend hard during the pandemic.
My issue is that I like a little of several styles. I like some classic, some edgy classic, some romantic, some boho. I own and wear a few pieces in each style and wear them all in a size 16 or 18 and at age 72.
Thats not an issue I am exactly the same as long as you have the glue [ basics covered ] you'll be able to mix and match styles its only a waste if you don't utilize what you've got!
67 here and curvy lady, but I love me some shien, boo hoo and other classic store along with thrifting. But I do utilize all my clothes. My only problem is I still think iam 29 and want to by the look for younger ladies. I can’t even look at the over 50 fashion videos. Lol

My fashion is all over the place. I love color, neutrals, minimalist and etc. I don't like alot of layers, although I like the look of it on other people. I work in an office, that is business casual and I like to bring a little pop, drama or funky to my outfits. I always have issues when going out, because I am always shopping for work.
I’m a style chameleon too… the trick is to have pieces that function inside and out of office. Each piece in your wardrobe should be able to work into making at least 3 looks for you.
First off I totally relate my style is definitely the same nothing wrong with that your a chameleon What Id do is kinda figure out the percentage of time you go out and create a budget based on that then create a going out capsule so a hand full of pieces that mix and match so you can easily make outfits use accessories to break things up
My husband & I are home-bodies. Even before the pandemic, we stayed at home (except for work). I have stopped buying "going out clothes" that won't also function as work pieces & I've stopped buying multiple eyeshadow palettes. I'm a teacher (have to clock in by 7:00am) & I hate getting up early, so realistically I hardly ever wear eyeshadow & I hardly ever go out (outside of work) so it's just a waste of $$.
yes the eyeshadow palettes Im like every week there's a new one didn't you already put a similar shade in the palette I bought last lol! Being self aware is soo important especially now.

About 3 years ago before I turned 50, I decided to STOP buying shoes over 4 inches! they were uncomfortable and threw my weight forward causing me feet and back pain. I am 5'4 and 225lbs and wearing heels that high was not for me anymore so now before buys any shoes, I check the heel height and now my feet don't hurt and I'm cute when I go out.
This was much needed. I'm trying to refrain from shopping each season. I need to narrow it down because the last few years I've donated bags of clothes. My style has evolved to a more classic, timeless look.
SSSSAME! I love simple. I’m going to start investing more money into QUALITY denim and plain t shirts (from Nordstrom) and getting simple designer thrifted blazers that are timeless. I’m not big on flashy jewelry, and just need nice shoes that transition into seasons. As long as my hair and makeup are clean and flawless, clothes are quality and timeless…I’m good.
First off Im glad to hear that you are even aware of your personal style, Taking the time to wardrobe plan at the top of every season totally helpful, and it doesn't have to be that deep make note of things you needed the last time it was that season, the things you never wore and trends or styles that are in line with your current style. Mke a master list nd stick as closely to it as possible. Also maybe sell some of your clothes that still have tags to recop you know.
Coming across your channel was a life changer for me. I use to hate my body type and felt like no clothes will ever fit me. So whenever I am lucky enough to have a piece of clothing that looks good on me I continue to buy only that type until I discover another one. But the moment I came across your channel mid last year, I can confidently dress to any occasion looking and feeling beautiful and even getting compliments because I now have an idea of clothes that flatter my body type. Fitted pencil skirts an business sheaths. I buy them for work, because I see myself as the slim person I use to be, instead of the aging plus size voluptuous person I am today. The crazy thing, my job no longer requires me to dress in conservative business wear. When shopping I'll have to train my eyes to visually overlook conservative wear to the boho style clothing, I'm somewhat drawn too, but rarely purchase.

Great advice. After working from home the last two years I'm being really intentional about my wardrobe. I recently had two weddings to attend and after being in the house for two years I thought I needed to go shopping for new outfits. After shopping my closet I bought one new blazer and styled it differently for both. I had everything else to make outfits that I loved!

I've been trying to be more practical with my clothing pieces this year. Sleeping on a buy does help. Returns are also another thing I've embraced. No use having the item sit in my closet. If I can't return than donate.

Amazing video!!!! The bread I needed for my wardrobe soul. I love long knit dresses but they look terrible on me because I my weight in my tummy and they always hug the belly and my side rolls. 😞 RIP long knit dresses. I only buy extreme trends from knockoff brands. Bought the original Valentino studded stilettos. Wore them for the weekend around my house and took them back because they hurt my feet. SOOOO glad I did now that everybody has knocked off that style. Kept that $750 in my pocket.

I want to have my shirts hang below my stomach because I'm uncomfortable showing it. As for skirts and pants have to be long enough to cover my leg tattoos when I dress up.

Yesterday I was so close to ordering a pair of dress pants, knowing they would be just sitting in my closet, because I’m not working anymore and that’s not my everyday style.
I have so many clothes just kept in my storage, some still have tags because i have compulsively bought them. Thinking about how much money I could save. And now when im not working anymore, this amount of useless clothes seems reducoulos. Also luxury bags and shoes are waist in my personal opinion.

my no.1 thing that has changed my wardrobe is knowing my colors. my undertone is green, with hint of blue, so I got with the color wheel and found what works on my skin tone. I color coded my wardrobe and whatever I buy is only in the colors that work for me. I do not waste money on clothes outside of my color remit.
Ding ding ding🛎🛎🛎 all your points,are on point 💯💯💯💯% I have been working in retail up until last year for over 30-40years mainly laides wear so can have a general idea that I have acquired a few pieces 🙈but I can say that my ascetic has majority has lent towards classic side which has allowed me to mix some pieces that are on trend but work with my style for ie,shackets have been in from last year I have a shacket that is a popping red its also quilted but the kicker is its over 20 years old and I wore as uniform when I was pregnant with my second child at that time I was working for Talbots as you know they are known for classic wear its a good idea to know your taste because when you have an idea of putting your clothing together to fit you perfectly personally asceticly whatever is trending you will always be on point.
My problem is if I like something I’ll repeatedly but it in multiple color ways and or everything in their collection ie: the latest target designer drop I brought everything polka dot 😩😩😩

Other clothing I’ve stopped buying: Too small clothes that I might fit into later. 🤣🤣 Fabrics which are uncomfortable - scratchy, not breathable… Fabrics which are unflattering , such as thin knits which accentuate every single curve. Clothes I’m told are wardrobe basics but I never wear. A white tshirt will become a coffee splattered tshirt within minutes. Clothes I think I need, but are not the right cut for me. I have an ill-fated track record with black pants.
Ironically I had the opposite conclusion. I would buy fancy dresses for unknown "special occasions" & feel bad when that day unworn in my closet. I just decided one day that I can dress like that everyday for no other reason than because I feel like it. Lol so now I go grocery shopping errands etc in my evening dresses & heels. I bought it, its gone get seen. Not just at these few & far in between special occasions. Everyday! 😊 (if you want) Wear the bodycon to the coffee shop!

Uncomfortable shoes will ruin an outfit from the funky walk to ultimately changing them out for the flats. I used to keep flip flops in the car.

Very good video. I have been a silent viewer for a long time and have to say it is refreshing to see a sensible influencer not just label boasting as a tax write off by buying 3 and 4 luxury items a week but we never see them use them. LOL!

Great advice. After working from home the last two years I'm being really intentional about my wardrobe. I recently had two weddings to attend and after being in the house for two years I thought I needed to go shopping for new outfits. After shopping my closet I bought one new blazer and styled it differently for both. I had everything else to make outfits that I loved!

I always go with coach it last and it don’t. brake the bank . No fitted clothes for me or high. heels I love jumpsuit and dress because it’s one and done but I used too 💕😊

I've been trying to be more practical with my clothing pieces this year. Sleeping on a buy does help. Returns are also another thing I've embraced. No use having the item sit in my closet. If I can't return than donate.
yes when you have too much it just get overwhelming and they say most people only wear like 15% of their closet lol

Not every new fashion trend is suitable for every person. Buy classic, traditional base pieces and try to add a few trendy pieces to those.

I LOVE the baggie look but i NEVER wear it. It looks great or others but I hate oversized on me. I always prefer a mainly tailored fit.
You hit my soul when you mentioned baby and body cons lol. I had no basics for years. I just looked raggedy on a normal day. Ask me to go to a party… I had a body con, jumpsuit, catsuit etc. I’m getting better now lol

Amazing video!!!! The bread I needed for my wardrobe soul. I love long knit dresses but they look terrible on me because I my weight in my tummy and they always hug the belly and my side rolls. 😞 RIP long knit dresses. I only buy extreme trends from knockoff brands. Bought the original Valentino studded stilettos. Wore them for the weekend around my house and took them back because they hurt my feet. SOOOO glad I did now that everybody has knocked off that style. Kept that $750 in my pocket.
I dont know why european shoes be cut so narrow, personally for footware I would only recommend a designer pair for timeless styles cause best belive someone will knock them offf

I've bought some absolutely gorgeous clothing that was just too short for my taste. I want to have my shirts hang below my stomach because I'm uncomfortable showing it. As for skirts and pants have to be long enough to cover my leg tattoos when I dress up.

I stop wasting my money on costume jewelry. I love all the pieces to wear with different outfits however, I tend to wear my go to gold hoops and my necklace of my moms picture along with my 2 gold bangles and never wear what I buy therefore, wasting my money.

Yesterday I was so close to ordering a pair of dress pants, knowing they would be just sitting in my closet, because I’m not working anymore and that’s not my everyday style.

I have so many clothes just kept in my storage, some still have tags because i have compulsively bought them. Thinking about how much money I could save. And now when im not working anymore, this amount of useless clothes seems reducoulos.
Also luxury bags and shoes are waist in my personal opinion.

my no.1 thing that has changed my wardrobe is knowing my colors. my undertone is green, with hint of blue, so I got with the color wheel and found what works on my skin tone. I color coded my wardrobe and whatever I buy is only in the colors that work for me. I do not waste money on clothes outside of my color remit.

Ding ding ding🛎🛎🛎 all your points,are on point 💯💯💯💯% I have been working in retail up until last year for over 30-40years mainly laides wear so can have a general idea that I have acquired a few pieces 🙈but I can say that my ascetic has majority has lent towards classic side which has allowed me to mix some pieces that are on trend but work with my style for ie,shackets have been in from last year I have a shacket that is a popping red its also quilted but the kicker is its over 20 years old and I wore as uniform when I was pregnant with my second child at that time I was working for Talbots as you know they are known for classic wear its a good idea to know your taste because when you have an idea of putting your clothing together to fit you perfectly personally asceticly whatever is trending you will always be on point.

Other clothing I’ve stopped buying:
Too small clothes that I might fit into later. 🤣🤣
Fabrics which are uncomfortable - scratchy, not breathable…
Fabrics which are unflattering , such as thin knits which accentuate every single curve.
Clothes I’m told are wardrobe basics but I never wear. A white tshirt will become a coffee splattered tshirt within minutes.
Clothes I think I need, but are not the right cut for me. I have an ill-fated track record with black pants.

Ironically I had the opposite conclusion. I would buy fancy dresses for unknown "special occasions" & feel bad when that day unworn in my closet. I just decided one day that I can dress like that everyday for no other reason than because I feel like it. Lol so now I go grocery shopping errands etc in my evening dresses & heels. I bought it, its gone get seen. Not just at these few & far in between special occasions. Everyday! 😊 (if you want) Wear the bodycon to the coffee shop!
