i separate the movable part of the claw from the shell then pull it out, 70% of the time the meat comes with it. Can hurt sometimes but you get used to it
Are you anywhere near like, Hagerstown/Williamsport area, Frederick- places like that? Jw, can’t recall, I know I’ve been to the chesepeake Bay Area but, I’m having a hard time remembering exactly how far or relative it was to those areas? It was years ago I was that way myself.
I am surprised that anyone would be confused about eating shell fish, but as I'm from Chesapeake (City) I suppose my cultural delicacy is someone else's exotic treat.
Thank you for sharing this little tip ❤
You are so welcome!
I've never had blue crab before! Dungeness are my local crab to grab in the bay! I love catching them and red rocks!
Dungeness is high on my list tontry

Same. I pick all my crabs with no tools. Definitely get pricked few times but its worth it at the end of the crab
Great tip
Have that same knife I live on the Biloxi gulf coast. We love our crabs
Nice!
I like the mallet. Its so satisfying lol
Nothing wrong with that!
You can even take it one step further and twist off the bottom part leaving you with the little cocktail style crab claw.
🤯

Nope about 2 hours south

Yep, not common place for everyone
What kind of knife is that? I picked up some JO knives this year, it will be my first time "picking" with a knife.
That one is a carvel hall knife. Those JO knives look good too
Nice method, but why do you not take put the thing in the middle?
No reason, sometimes I do and other times I just scrape the meat off with my teeth
Yup the best way if you don't like smashed shell bits infused in your meat.
Yep!
I never have shells in my meat and been eating crabs all my life (from Baltimore). But I’m gonna try this way.
I just use my teeth
😬
@@Bythewater 👌 I normally eat rock and dungeous crab instead of blue crab so I use teeth and mallet when needed
