People that played 24 already took hikes on a bear trail in Alaska after landing somewhere in a bush plane. Microsoft has buildings full of servers with our whole world loaded on them in high rez. A developer said that every rock seen from HD satellites in space, is in this sim. Stupid amazing.
That area is very well represented in Google Earth VR. It is all in real 3D photogrammetry. By sure to "ride the rails" up to the top of Mt. Snowdon. And climb along the rocky ledges.... all in VR. Riding the rails in 3D photogrammetry areas in a VR headset is something that is fun to do all over the world. Especially cog wheel trains. Skiing and riding lifts is fun too when in a photogrammetry area. There are hundreds of these areas to explore. Maybe even thousands.

Load the whole game section in super fast ram. The cash, drive, and connection, get more time to refresh themselves without suffering FPS issues. I'm sure 32 will work out fine.
I don't think 64gb ram is insane anymore and remember that you will be more than enough on ultra settings with 32gb ram if you obv. have all the other system requirements and you are not using more than two medium/heavy softwares during msfs session.
@@tompsu9536 Stats disagree.. Its possible to do but hardly something games would utilize. With most games you could literally store the entire game on ram and never load anything. Sounds great, but its unreasonable.
Also, dont forget if theres not enough VRAM, the graphics will use ram as a "pagefile". If you have a gfx card with 20/24/++ gb vram, i Highly doubt the game will need more then like 20/25 gb ram, to be really pessimistic. Way less i bet.

I have yet to see a video showing procedurally generated terrain and detailed features for flights that the user might choose for anywhere across the world. Everything seems focused on career mode, walking around, and specific missions, and I suspect that Asobo has already developed full terrain detail for these specific locations. But we need to see how accurate and detailed the procedurally generated terrain will be for everywhere else in the world, on day one of release.
You can see it right there in the opening scene. A blurry mess that is supposed to look like rock formations, as if painted with a brush, steep as a cube, massively overexposed rock walls. "Absolutely gorgeous looking!"
@neth77 Being able to do career from any airport doesn't guarantee that the procedurally generated terrain for all those locations will be as detailed and accurate as what we're seeing for the few career locations that they've previewed. They've probably hand-crafted those locations. I want to see what happens when someone gives them a few random locations and they have to show them live, with no prior knowledge or ability to preconfigure them. Let's see them deliver on that rather than ask us to take it all on blind faith. A lot is being left out of these previews and developer streams, but it's time to be honest and 100% transparent.
I think the reason for no 3rd person and no avatars in multiplayer are due to animations ... it's a lot of work and it doesn't surprise me that they passed on it. Also, I saw a conversation on reddit that if you own the Premium Deluxe edition of 2020, all of the base aircraft from that version will be unlocked in your edition 2024, even if you only purchase the standard edition - not sure if that is true, but it seems logical. For example, the Cirrus SR22 is in the PD edition of 2020 and if you only purchase the standard edition of 2024, it will be unlocked for you.
For some reason some of this helicopter footage looks a little bit like a radio controlled helicopter to my eyes. I can't quite put my finger on it, just some of the angles look a 'model' like.

I am so excited! Kind of weird they are saying ideal setup is based on you streaming and multitasking, thats probably like a 5% thats doing that. Anyway I´m glad to hear I´m still able to punch it to the limit with my PC. 11900K, 32GB ram and 4090 OC24
We're firmly in the era where Software has outpaced available GPUs by a half a decade it feels like. Not helped by the likes of one company dominating the upper range, and not giving a shit about its gaming customers.

I'm really interested in the performance. According to MS, I have ideal config except the GPU, I'm sportin 4060Ti with 16GB VRAM. So more memory but "slower" GPU... However pretty sure running it at 4K I'll get max HIGH settings for satisfactory performance, same as with FS20. Not worried about the network at all, sitting on 1Gbps connection :-) If FS24 will have the same problems with servers as FS20 has with each and every update, it'll be a deal breaker for a lot of people.
4060 and 4k? Wtf are you doing? Highest resolution and low end GPU is not a reasonable combination. Maybe we can setup what consoles do. Render at 1440p and then upscale to 4k?

WTH are you talking about, lol. 4060Ti is FAR from being low-end 😀 It's midtier high-end if anything. you might be confusing it with 2060, which in these days is the low-end GPU with 10gen still holding on quite well. Oh and I forgot to add I'm running dual 4k monitor setup and, you'll be pleased to know, I can comfortably run pretty much anything I want to play on very high to ultra settings just fine in crisp 4k. Having 16GB VRAM and using ultra-fast nVMe drives does wonders. I ran the oldie 3060Ti OC 12GB on dual 4K and it ripped back in the day. And compared to 4080 I get way more FPS/$ with it being about 1/3 the price.
@@BJ-Hawk I guess we have very different definitions of what constitutes "high end". That's fine, as it's all just marketing and market-segmentation either way. What we can say is that nVidia doesn't market the 4060ti as a 4k card. There is, for once, actually a good reason for that. I'm sure online reviews will confirm as much.
Few years now and we can use this to also drive around on all the roads in the world, almost like google street view. That will put ETS and ATS to shame lol...

Imagine this is what the future Open-world Game map looks like. Instead of just being a Sim, you have story missions, interactive NPC, and combat similar to GTA games, but with the map of an entire world. (I'm not talking about Star Citizen or Starfield since their worlds look empty and lifeless)

Regarding performance on console, MFS 2020 on Xbox can run at unlocked framerate ( up to 120 fps ) if you have a 120 hz monitor ( with VRR support, possibly ). MFS 2024 ( on Xbox ) will aim at 30 FPS target, but what about 120 hz ( or more ) monitors with VRR ? We’ll get this feature back ? On Xbox it was literally a game changer. At the moment we don’t have any official statments about that.
Everything cool... except (and it may not interest the most, but for me is one of the most important feature) to have the confirmation (although it was known already) that the shared cockpit won't be there. And since they promised the same for FS2020 (with a future update... and then moved it to FS2024), I may be pessimistic, but I don't think it'll be around the corner. He said, let's hope it's not FS2028... but if we look at the past, that's exactly what happened. :(

Glad I specced 64GB of RAM when I bought my PC three years ago. I had a feeling that things might go that way. I thought I had future-proofed and over-specced my rig for MSFS2020, but who knew that a RTX3080 GPU would be only just about good enough!
Im really confused with the current Flight Simulator. When I 1st played after launch my old PC with i5-9600k/32GB ram/Rtx 20700 hybrid/ 500 download and 200 upload, my PC handled the game really well. Granted I wasnt running the best of anything, but the game ran very well. Now I have a i9-13900K/32GB Ram/RTX 3070, 1GB download and 1GB upload, and the game does not run well on my new system. I always keep drivers updated so I am very confused by the stutters the game has now. As for 2024 I hope it runs smooth compared to what Im experiencing now. I LOVE the idea of careers. That sounds like a blast!
interesting that a top Microsoft new flag ship sim product does not recommend windows 11 on any of the spec's. minimum, recommended or ideal. sad how Microsoft considers their top tier OS as junk for high end video games. My experience from gaming on windows 10 and 11. windows 10 was a way better product for high end gaming as windows 11 HD activity never ever stabilizes to 0% unlike windows 10, (more than likely the reason you see all the frame stuttering in the demo you are show casing for them.) will hit 0% activity in a few seconds after a reboot boot. unlike 11 will never flat line to 0% activity. Too bad Microsoft has destroyed their windows 11 with too much snooping into their clients' activities. I was really looking forward to purchasing this product but seeing all the frame studder that the Microsoft sims have always had since day one, looks like they still cannot get rid of the frame pausing/ studder on their flight sim product.
I Think it all looks great. What breaks the illusion for me is the movement of the foliage. That chunks of grass bushes etc moving rapidly back and forth. It’s like in NMS. I know, it’s surely expensive. And yes it’s a flight sim and the purpose as such is to spend the time in the skies. But they have done all this near ground details and one can explore by foot now. Maybe it’s an advanced system, but I mean they can do those amazing clouds with realtime weather data. Just sayin’. Even SW Outlaws looks better. Not a sim but nonetheless. But hey, just me whining. Looking forward to it. Setting wind effect to zero when on foot 😂 ✈️
It looks very promising, but I'm definitely very wary of promises like these, especially when they are claiming a 5700XT is a "recommended" card. Colour me suspicious.
I've been using 64GB of ram for years in DCS. It helps with all the algorithms running in the background. Keeps track of the big picture without hurting FPS. Why is this an issue, when every other component in gaming PCs need to get upgraded, occasionally? It's 2024 dude. 128 will be needed eventually. But wow, when it does ; )_
Adaptive graphics are basically what made GTA5 possible on PS3 in 2012... If you know, you know. Once you had 3+ stars wanted level, there where almost no people or other cars, to keep it al fps happy. Also when you drove FAST in the city centre, the sidestreets were EMPTY ;) Meanwhile if you drove slow, no wanted level, or were on foot, you saw a vibrant world with alot of traffic, different ppl and alot of car variation. Translate to MSFS: i dont care if i cant see a giraffe while im taking off in a 747 at 250kn. But, i better see rats if im flying over NY with a cessna 152 @ 70kn :p
I dont the the GPU requirement in the Ideal spec? An 4090 is about 40% faster than an 7900xt, or is it more to do with GPU memory requirements over raw horsepower? Since an 4070 Ti is as fast as an 7900xt but only has 16gb ram vs 20gb.
Prices for RAM have come done recently. I upgraded from 32GB to 64GB DDR5, and immediately noticed better performance in VR using Virtual Desktop. I reckon what they said makes sense: if you have other processes running besides MSFS, like VD in my case, having 64GB helps.
I was ready to buy FS2024 the moment it becomes available. Then I witnessed City update IX which was kind of a preview of FS2024. I regularly get 20 to 30 FPS with every setting at max but with this update I only get 3 to 6 FPS! FS 2024 seems to be a slide show...
Having been on safari in Africa I believe the sim would become sooo much more realistic if they added in flies around the animals, and oxpeckers. It needs oxpeckers. One issue raised which was evaded during the developer presentation was whether ground traffic will continue driving through each other every now and then. I read that as it has not been addressed and will continue for the 2024 edition.
Okay I have seen lots of graphic reviews of the same tree intense areas, some selected season views, but not much detail of cities, suburbs, airports. Microsoft has made available a very curated set of areas & activities made available to reviewers. Let's face it, a large percentage of reviewers are driven by channel views and therefore present positive, exaggerated reviews. I will wait for the actual release and average user reviews
Already bought the collectors because I love the series, but very disappointing news on Shared Cockpit. That's almost the word-for-word statement they gave for Shared Cockpit in MSFS 2020. The rest of the game though? Amazing.
It comes out in 7 weeks and 5 days 😁😁😁 Definitely my most anticipated game of the year 😁 I can’t wait to see how my local area (Hurricane, Utah) looks different from the version in MSFS 2020. And then of course I’ll explore everywhere else like I usually do 😊
I am curious to see if they expanded peripheral support on the Xbox. It's extremely locked down and hard to mix and match parts with FS2020. Would be nice to have more freedom console wise.
It's odd and a bit deceptive that they include running other unnecessary tasks outside of their program as part of their ideal specs. To me the specs should be focused on their program alone. Its obvious you may need more ram if your are running a bunch of other things at the same time.
The system and internet speed requirements are going to restrict a lot of users. I hope they keep supporting 2020 for a few more years, I’ll have to stick to 2020 myself
I think its best not to set expectations for 2024 too high to begin with and accept that there may some teething issues, stutters etc that need to be ironed out over time. I am still excited though and am building a whole new rig for this new iteration of the sim. Lots to look forward too.
Do we know if there wil be improved airport maps visible inside the sim that would show taxiways designations, etc. for better navigation while taxiing?

what if you fire up the engines or turn on the pitot heat before removing the covers? will you fod out the engines/ overheat.. or melt the pitot covers, or have no airspeed etc
the required specs make a lot of sense, if anything they are quite impressive low for what the game is offering. requiring more RAM makes sense when the game will use mostly streaming.

At 2:38 you can see they still have not figured out how to generate water properly. You can see water "climbing" the riverbank on the right side.

On the positive side, the career mode will be a great addition to the game.
We're firmly in the era where Software has outpaced available GPUs by a half a decade it feels like. Not helped by the likes of one company dominating the upper range, and not giving a shit about its gaming customers.

I'm really interested in the performance. According to MS, I have ideal config except the GPU, I'm sportin 4060Ti with 16GB VRAM. So more memory but "slower" GPU... However pretty sure running it at 4K I'll get max HIGH settings for satisfactory performance, same as with FS20. Not worried about the network at all, sitting on 1Gbps connection :-) If FS24 will have the same problems with servers as FS20 has with each and every update, it'll be a deal breaker for a lot of people.
What type of server issues have you experienced? When I run it, seems to always work.

Highest resolution and low end GPU is not a reasonable combination.
Maybe we can setup what consoles do. Render at 1440p and then upscale to 4k?

WTH are you talking about, lol. 4060Ti is FAR from being low-end 😀 It's midtier high-end if anything. you might be confusing it with 2060, which in these days is the low-end GPU with 10gen still holding on quite well. Oh and I forgot to add I'm running dual 4k monitor setup and, you'll be pleased to know, I can comfortably run pretty much anything I want to play on very high to ultra settings just fine in crisp 4k. Having 16GB VRAM and using ultra-fast nVMe drives does wonders. I ran the oldie 3060Ti OC 12GB on dual 4K and it ripped back in the day.
And compared to 4080 I get way more FPS/$ with it being about 1/3 the price.

I guess we have very different definitions of what constitutes "high end". That's fine, as it's all just marketing and market-segmentation either way.
What we can say is that nVidia doesn't market the 4060ti as a 4k card. There is, for once, actually a good reason for that. I'm sure online reviews will confirm as much.

@@tmkongen yeah, they could literally utilize the same platform with slight tweaks and make this an almost perfect driving, train, ship or any else sim.
Imagine this is what the future Open-world Game map looks like. Instead of just being a Sim, you have story missions, interactive NPC, and combat similar to GTA games, but with the map of an entire world. (I'm not talking about Star Citizen or Starfield since their worlds look empty and lifeless)

AI will definitely make this possible sooner rather than later. It will be the ultimate game to play if it is accurate enough to real life.

Star citizens worlds are not lifeless, they are alien planets that are meant to be like that
My guess, 2028 they'll release a sim where you can also drive trains and trucks. It seems a waste to design such a beautiful world and not to enable the infinite possibilities within it
it would be cool to hunt from a helicopter and land. Instead of a camera lens you are looking through a crosshairs from a rifle.
I wonder if the SDK is going to allow for modded avatars. Might be something to ask in next weeks dev vlog which is focusing on the SDK.

Regarding performance on console, MFS 2020 on Xbox can run at unlocked framerate ( up to 120 fps ) if you have a 120 hz monitor ( with VRR support, possibly ). MFS 2024 ( on Xbox ) will aim at 30 FPS target, but what about 120 hz ( or more ) monitors with VRR ? We’ll get this feature back ? On Xbox it was literally a game changer. At the moment we don’t have any official statments about that.
Everything cool... except (and it may not interest the most, but for me is one of the most important feature) to have the confirmation (although it was known already) that the shared cockpit won't be there. And since they promised the same for FS2020 (with a future update... and then moved it to FS2024), I may be pessimistic, but I don't think it'll be around the corner. He said, let's hope it's not FS2028... but if we look at the past, that's exactly what happened. :(
Well, if they fixed all the crap from the previous ones, I'll get it. U know, stutters, stupid clouds and sky etc. etc. / but I doubt it. It seems they are just loading on more and more "Oh wow" stuff. I don't want animals, balloons and stupid sh!t, I want to fly in a good airplane..
Glad I specced 64GB of RAM when I bought my PC three years ago. I had a feeling that things might go that way. I thought I had future-proofed and over-specced my rig for MSFS2020, but who knew that a RTX3080 GPU would be only just about good enough!
Im really confused with the current Flight Simulator. When I 1st played after launch my old PC with i5-9600k/32GB ram/Rtx 20700 hybrid/ 500 download and 200 upload, my PC handled the game really well. Granted I wasnt running the best of anything, but the game ran very well. Now I have a i9-13900K/32GB Ram/RTX 3070, 1GB download and 1GB upload, and the game does not run well on my new system. I always keep drivers updated so I am very confused by the stutters the game has now. As for 2024 I hope it runs smooth compared to what Im experiencing now. I LOVE the idea of careers. That sounds like a blast!
interesting that a top Microsoft new flag ship sim product does not recommend windows 11 on any of the spec's. minimum, recommended or ideal. sad how Microsoft considers their top tier OS as junk for high end video games. My experience from gaming on windows 10 and 11. windows 10 was a way better product for high end gaming as windows 11 HD activity never ever stabilizes to 0% unlike windows 10, (more than likely the reason you see all the frame stuttering in the demo you are show casing for them.) will hit 0% activity in a few seconds after a reboot boot. unlike 11 will never flat line to 0% activity. Too bad Microsoft has destroyed their windows 11 with too much snooping into their clients' activities. I was really looking forward to purchasing this product but seeing all the frame studder that the Microsoft sims have always had since day one, looks like they still cannot get rid of the frame pausing/ studder on their flight sim product.
I Think it all looks great. What breaks the illusion for me is the movement of the foliage. That chunks of grass bushes etc moving rapidly back and forth. It’s like in NMS. I know, it’s surely expensive. And yes it’s a flight sim and the purpose as such is to spend the time in the skies. But they have done all this near ground details and one can explore by foot now. Maybe it’s an advanced system, but I mean they can do those amazing clouds with realtime weather data. Just sayin’. Even SW Outlaws looks better. Not a sim but nonetheless. But hey, just me whining. Looking forward to it. Setting wind effect to zero when on foot 😂 ✈️
It looks very promising, but I'm definitely very wary of promises like these, especially when they are claiming a 5700XT is a "recommended" card. Colour me suspicious.
I've been using 64GB of ram for years in DCS. It helps with all the algorithms running in the background. Keeps track of the big picture without hurting FPS. Why is this an issue, when every other component in gaming PCs need to get upgraded, occasionally? It's 2024 dude. 128 will be needed eventually. But wow, when it does ; )_
Adaptive graphics are basically what made GTA5 possible on PS3 in 2012... If you know, you know. Once you had 3+ stars wanted level, there where almost no people or other cars, to keep it al fps happy. Also when you drove FAST in the city centre, the sidestreets were EMPTY ;) Meanwhile if you drove slow, no wanted level, or were on foot, you saw a vibrant world with alot of traffic, different ppl and alot of car variation. Translate to MSFS: i dont care if i cant see a giraffe while im taking off in a 747 at 250kn. But, i better see rats if im flying over NY with a cessna 152 @ 70kn :p

An 4090 is about 40% faster than an 7900xt, or is it more to do with GPU memory requirements over raw horsepower?
Since an 4070 Ti is as fast as an 7900xt but only has 16gb ram vs 20gb.
Prices for RAM have come done recently. I upgraded from 32GB to 64GB DDR5, and immediately noticed better performance in VR using Virtual Desktop. I reckon what they said makes sense: if you have other processes running besides MSFS, like VD in my case, having 64GB helps.
I was ready to buy FS2024 the moment it becomes available. Then I witnessed City update IX which was kind of a preview of FS2024. I regularly get 20 to 30 FPS with every setting at max but with this update I only get 3 to 6 FPS! FS 2024 seems to be a slide show...
128 gig ram here :-) And I remember naysayers saying "Oh you wont need more that 32gig"

Having been on safari in Africa I believe the sim would become sooo much more realistic if they added in flies around the animals, and oxpeckers. It needs oxpeckers. One issue raised which was evaded during the developer presentation was whether ground traffic will continue driving through each other every now and then. I read that as it has not been addressed and will continue for the 2024 edition.
Okay I have seen lots of graphic reviews of the same tree intense areas, some selected season views, but not much detail of cities, suburbs, airports. Microsoft has made available a very curated set of areas & activities made available to reviewers. Let's face it, a large percentage of reviewers are driven by channel views and therefore present positive, exaggerated reviews. I will wait for the actual release and average user reviews
Already bought the collectors because I love the series, but very disappointing news on Shared Cockpit. That's almost the word-for-word statement they gave for Shared Cockpit in MSFS 2020. The rest of the game though? Amazing.
It comes out in 7 weeks and 5 days 😁😁😁 Definitely my most anticipated game of the year 😁 I can’t wait to see how my local area (Hurricane, Utah) looks different from the version in MSFS 2020. And then of course I’ll explore everywhere else like I usually do 😊
Everyone's shocked at the 64gb of ram. But I'm surpised they managed to squeeze ALL of that into 50gb?! Was expecting at least a hundred!
I am curious to see if they expanded peripheral support on the Xbox. It's extremely locked down and hard to mix and match parts with FS2020. Would be nice to have more freedom console wise.
It's odd and a bit deceptive that they include running other unnecessary tasks outside of their program as part of their ideal specs. To me the specs should be focused on their program alone. Its obvious you may need more ram if your are running a bunch of other things at the same time.
It is cheaper to get a flight license and rent a small plane than a computer with the ideal specifications.
The system and internet speed requirements are going to restrict a lot of users. I hope they keep supporting 2020 for a few more years, I’ll have to stick to 2020 myself
I think its best not to set expectations for 2024 too high to begin with and accept that there may some teething issues, stutters etc that need to be ironed out over time. I am still excited though and am building a whole new rig for this new iteration of the sim. Lots to look forward too.

I hope modders could activate damage on every planes. Not allowing a simulated plane to not be broken is stupid. Just as cars in SIM Racing games.

PLEASE let the helicopter physics be on par with, or better than that of DCS helicopter physics. That alone would make it all worth it for me.

what if you fire up the engines or turn on the pitot heat before removing the covers? will you fod out the engines/ overheat.. or melt the pitot covers, or have no airspeed etc

...so no offline mode at the beginning? what a shame. what to do, if an excavator destroys the cables in the streets? i had that in the last 4 years in 2 different state capital cities, which took almost 3 days to repair. -.- that can surely be implemented, as in the previous 2020, even pre-download some areas, we´d like to fly....they should add an option to fly offline, but with lower graphics, etc... no problem, the main thing is that we can fly! oh, and before i forget, i´ve ordered the limited collector´s edition on 19th of september^^ ...new 1500Watts be-quiet! Power supply and an RTX4070Ti Super, and 128GB Ram 🤩
You are 100% right. Offline version is needed for airshows and other types of demos.
