I used to live there...!!!!!! WOW. The US Navy used have a submarine tender at Santo Stefano which is probably where you were talking about at the end. My family and I were stationed there from May of 86 until May of 88...my youngest daughter was born in the hospital at La Maddalena. It is one of the most beautiful places I've ever been. Thank you for the trip down memory lane.😊😊😊
Wow -- this is INCREDIBLE!!!! Thank you so much for sharing this personal story of yours! Does that mean your daughter can get citizenship?! Also, if you don't mind me asking, what were you stationed there for? (if its not classified info of course!) 🤗

Hi! Just wanted to drop a line and say that your channel has become my go-to source for all things sailing! Your content is absolutely top-notch, and the videography is like something out of a dream. Seriously, you guys are great. sailing TH-cam - pure cinematic magic! Keep it up, and I can't wait to see what adventures you take me on next! All the best from Newcastle upon Tyne!
It’s so nice to be back too! We had such a nice little break over the Christmas period it was great, and we were able to see family too which just warmed our hearts 💕 Thank you for being patient with us over that time 🙏 Really grateful! Cant wait to show you more of Italy, and then France - 🇫🇷 Wooohooo!
Your channel has become one of my favorites. Beautiful scenery and enjoy your interaction with the locals and how you give a brief history of the locales. Positive vibes galore. Thanks for taking us along.
My Parents are from Sicily and my Father served on Sardinia in the Carabinieri in the late 1950's. Two of my cousins went to the carabinieri training academy on Sardinia. My Family & I visited in 2018 it is so beautiful & La Maddalena is a paradise!
Thank you!!! Working on the next edit now :) Ohh.. to live in England.. you're so close to all these INCREDIBLE spots! Very jealous! Lots of love, KC xx
John & Kristina: La Maddalena was special, however quite busy with wake chop and anchoring, etc.. So nice to visit this paradise with you. Kristina's pizza look magnificent, so full of veggies. Your cinematography, editing and content is the best on Utube. We are so fortunate to view Italy through your eyes. Bon Appetite!
I live in US but I'm originally from Sardinia, one of the best places on earth. Thank you for making me travel back home, beautiful shots and video craftsmanship! I look forward to seeing your experience at the majestic Tavolara island in your next episode, so many wonderful childhood memories :)
Palau was the main ferry point from the main island of Sardinia to La Maddalena. The emerald coast is what I remember it being called. Gino's was a popular spot for espresso and fabulous Spaghetti Al tonno. Try some before you leave. Best wishes.
Thank you - so glad you’re enjoying them! Sorry I take a while to edit them, I wish I could put them out sooner, but they take me a couple weeks to edit each, with many hours finessing, so thank you for your support and watching - so grateful! ☺️
Hi Kristina & John, I just came across your channel and must say I truly enjoy your videos.😊 I also totally agree with you: You can learn any skill at any stage of your life if you really want it. I just learned sailing last summer and I know, for me, it's a passion for life. I'm wishing you an amazing time on your next travels.⛵
Luv these episodes Kristina your narration ya Aussie ways it’s bloody beautiful fun entertainment to turn in as every episode ya never know was what Aussie mischief your going to get ya selves into good on ya all g li ad you are enjoying your adventure as I am enjoying watching luv to ya all
Great video guys! Something to consider, the yacht cost $600k to rent. That amount does not include provisioning, fuel, marina fees, and any other incidentals- also don’t forget the 15-20% crew gratuity. So by the time you are done, you are probably talking a total cost of $1 million. I have hit golf balls off the back off 😂my friends boat, but we never had to retrieve them as they were made out of fish food. I hate to say this, but the marina fees are going to be going nowhere but up- there has been such consolidation of marinas ownership worldwide. I know by m all the former family owned marinas were all bought up by a huge corporate entity.
Exactly. If your actually using a yacht a good deal and/or putting it up for charter part time as owner it can be better to purchase. If your an infrequent user and go in as a group then it's best to share the cost of a charter.
The real Mistral passes through the Rhône Valley. It is a natural gorge between the Massif Central in central France and the Alps (Rhone Alps) to the east. With a certain wind direction in the gorge, the excelerating wind is sent from north to south across Provence and the Camarque to the Mediterranean. In winter, it can be a freezing wind that makes even Provence freezing cold. In summer, if you bike south and you're in the middle of it, you can easily reach 50 km/h.
@9:01 From what I understand, most, if not all, of those large luxury yachts use biodegradable fish food golfballs when the owner or guests practice their golf swings. They don't collect the balls later.
Loving your videos also you are aussie. I lived in Australia for 32 years and i came back to the Netherlands 7 years ago to be close to my family and to explore Europe. Unfortunately i had an accident and my life has changed completely. So instead of following my dream boat, I enjoy watching your videos instead. Keep them coming. I’m loving them.
Always loved your videos, it will be amazing experience to divine into clear water 🌊💦 You all are having great days to spend your time with nature ❤ Have an Awesome Trip Ahead ❤
To sail this region is definitely a dream come true! I think it would be better to visit during the shoulder season next time though - pretty busy is some of those anchorages despite the need for permits and a limit on visitors ☺️
Very very lucky to be onboard!! Super lucky that Jeanneau put their faith in us 😄 55ft is our biggest boat to date - and she’s niccceeee! A little nervous at first, but feeling right at home now 🥰🙌❤️
Hey, Tacana crew. Really enjoyed that! If your J55 really has more head room, I must see about getting one! I'm 6ft2! Enjoyed seeing the sights on your walks around the Island. Weird with that golfer. I enjoy a round of golf, but would not go so far as to practice like that! But... only in La Maddalena! Fair winds.
I think you’d have plenty of head room! 🫶 John is slightly under 6 foot if you’d like to compare in episodes. Yes, only in La Maddalena! 😂🤣 haha! Fair winds ✨
You should take a look at the Cruising Kiwis and what happened to them when free diving. Their son blacked out doing what you were doing. He was an Olympic NZ rower so fit. They also have a follow up video with a world class free diver to review how they should have done it
You know guys, this sudden wind happened to us more in the Balearics and Western Med, but not so much in the Ioanian. This is why we are hesitant to go to Sardinia again, they get crazy storms! Plus, let's be honest, Italian sailors definitely have a different sense of personal space when anchoring... Plus every family has a small motor boat that swarm anchorages during the day, making it super hard to find a spot and relax once at anchor... It's a shame as we LOVE Italy.
Having a name on the boat helps when I am in the helicopter looking for those in need of medical help. In Australia, it is also becoming a requirement, along with larger REGO number on the transom.
Wow!! That’s SUPER interesting! Thank you so much for sharing that info with us all and thank you for your service 🙂🤩✨ Legend! I’m sure you have some interesting stories 😍
@@KristinasTravels Top tips. 1) Don't rely on a desalinator. 2) keep small water bottles filled and stored. Roll them onto it and drag. Think what are we trying to achieve and dont try and use lessons in a first aid class. Have a plan as to how people can be moved if injured. For example, If i am injured whilst in my engine room, a line is attached to my ankles and the crew hoist me out. Sounds bad, but now people can do SPR or whatever once i am on flat ground. I have it written as an instruction so no one can be blamed if they drag me out. Just a few common ones. :)
