Hi there, I’m happy to help you. 1. Both my donor VIN and recipient VIN start with ‘JM0BL’. The first character (J) indicates that they were made in Japan. So if your VIN starts with ‘J’, then I think you are fine. Just check that you have a fly-by-wire accelerator pedal as shown at 2:00 in the part 1 video. 2. I think what you are saying is that this person is selling a steering wheel with cruise control that used to have an airbag in it, but they have removed the airbag. That is fine. Your airbag will fit in this steering wheel just fine. 3. I believe the triangular plastic directly below the airbag is black on the base model, and silver on the higher versions. Hi, Paul - great video and very thorough. Thanks for taking the time to help everyone. I was wondering if you think this would work on a 2013 Mazda 5 Sport (base model). I'm in Canada and my VIN starts with JM1CW2CL. I installed the brake switch and steering controls, then took it into a dealership to get it activated. The tech spent a half hour trying, then said there's no way to do it on this trim model of a 2013 Mazda 5. The tech's program wouldn't offer the option (which I read as the program not offering the "easy mode" / plug-and-play option that you mention in your video). I don't think it even occurred to the tech to tinker with the hex code.
It depends on how much time and money you are willing to invest in an unknown outcome. Maybe start with buying the OBDLink EX FORScan USB adapter and see what comes up when you go into AsBuilt mode. If you know anyone with a Mazda 5 sport with CC from factory you can then try their setting on your car (take a backup of your original first). I have seen forum posts where people have shared their AsBuilt files to cover this situation. Best of luck. Paul.

Hi Paul, very very nice video! I tried it on my mazda 2 from 2012 with the new steering wheel, I changed the same codes (pos 7(=same as yours) and 25(not same as yours, but I made it from F3FC to F1FA), but it didn't work. I try to find a list with the meaning of the codes from the whole list, but it is hard to find. Greetings from the Netherlands!
Hi @Otterpartsnl, here is a strategy for you to reverse engineer the solution: 1. Find someone who already has a Mazda 2 with cruise control installed and working. You might have to join a local Mazda Facebook group to find them. 2. Connect to their car with Forscan and save a copy of their As-built data. 3. If you are lucky, then Forscan will give you the easy option of CC enable/disable. If this happens, then select Disable, and look at what numbers have changed. Be sure to change the file back (using the copy you made in step 2), so you don't knobble your friend's car. Make the identical changes on your car. 4. If you are unlucky, then you can apply their entire as-built file from step 2 to your car. Note that this will apply ALL the options of their car onto your car. So just check that you have the same options installed: transmission type, fog lights etc. 4a. At the very least, pay attention to lines 7 and 25. It might be that CC=enabled is something other that a value of 3. 5. Reply to this message and let me know how you went. 6. Share your solution on TH-cam, so that you have solved it for everyone. Paul in Perth.
Hi @OtterpartsNL, Hello from Perth, Australia! As luck would have it, I was looking for a new Mazda to wreck, so I chose a DE Mazda 2 with cruise control so that I could answer your query. The PCM As Built configuration for this car is: 01 4A4D 3044 4539 02 3130 5932 451B 03 3032 3637 33ED 04 3136 FFFF FF50 05 FF2A FFFF FF13 06 FF03 83FF FF71 07 FFFF FF41 F320 08 FFFF FFFF FFEB 09 FFFF FFFF FFEC 10 FFFF FFFF FFF3 11 FFFF FFFF FFF4 12 FFFF FFFF FFF5 13 FFFF FFFF FFF6 14 FFFF FFFF FFF7 15 FFFF FFFF FFF8 16 FFFF FFFF FFF9 17 FFFF FFFF FFFA 18 FFFF FFFF FFFB 19 FFFF FFFF FFFC 20 FFFF FFFF FF03 21 FFFF FFFF FF04 22 FFFF FFFF FF05 23 FFFF FFFF FF06 24 FFFF FFFF FF07 25 FFFF FFFF 1821 26 1BFF 3058 Forscan is not giving me an option to disable CC, so I can't turn it off and see what changes. What you could do is save your ASB file, and then overwrite yours with the data above. That should enable CC. Just check that all your other features work. For example, my car does not have fog lights. If yours does, then the above file will probably disable them. Have a play around and let me know how you go. Paul in Perth.
Hi @OtterpartsNL, I got a wrecked DE Mazda 2 without cruise control today, and I used ForScan to look at the details. It gave me the 'easy mode', which gave me all the options, and explained why it didn't work on your Mazda 2. The Mazda 2 options are: 0 - not configured. 1 - no cruise control (that's what the wreck had set in its config) 2 - cruise control. 3 - adaptive cruise control. 4 - adaptive cruise control stop and go. 5 - adaptive cruise control brake limit 2. 6 - adaptive cruise control stop and go, brake limit 2. Because you added 2 to your option value, you went from 1 to 3. What you wanted to do is go from 1 to 2. However, on my DE Mazda 2 without cruise control, the wiring harness for the brake light switch only has two wires going into it. For cruise control to work you would need four. Has your harness got two or four wires? From what I have seen, some DE Mazda 2s without cruise control come out of the factory with a two-wire harness, that is incompatible with having factory cruise control added. It doesn't appear to be all of them, as another commenter with a VIN starting with MM has a four-wire harness going into his brake switch.
@@PaulinPerth Hi Paul! Again thanks for all the information about Cruise control for Mazda. As I told you I own a Mazda 2 from 2008, and as I read above maybe the problem is the 2wire harness😞 could It be easy rapleced? Or any other solution? Thanks in advance. Grettings from Madrid.
So i had change the pcm as built. No check engine. But nothing happened if i press cruise on button. Is it because of the brake light switch? I havent changed it or check the number of pin. But the cable had 4 wire. Do you have any idea? It is for demio DE 2014 with MM vin number
Hi Tonny, The Mazda 2 (Demio) cruise control options are: 0 - not configured. 1 - no cruise control (that's what my wreck had set in its config) 2 - cruise control. Can you please install a 4 pin brake switch, and then only increment the CC value by one instead of two and let me know? Paul.

Hi @Otterpartsnl, here is a strategy for you to reverse engineer the solution:

Hi @OtterpartsNL,
Hello from Perth, Australia! As luck would have it, I was looking for a new Mazda to wreck, so I chose a DE Mazda 2 with cruise control so that I could answer your query. The PCM As Built configuration for this car is:
01 4A4D 3044 4539
02 3130 5932 451B
03 3032 3637 33ED
04 3136 FFFF FF50
05 FF2A FFFF FF13
06 FF03 83FF FF71
07 FFFF FF41 F320
08 FFFF FFFF FFEB
09 FFFF FFFF FFEC
10 FFFF FFFF FFF3
11 FFFF FFFF FFF4
12 FFFF FFFF FFF5
13 FFFF FFFF FFF6
14 FFFF FFFF FFF7
15 FFFF FFFF FFF8
16 FFFF FFFF FFF9
17 FFFF FFFF FFFA
18 FFFF FFFF FFFB
19 FFFF FFFF FFFC
20 FFFF FFFF FF03
21 FFFF FFFF FF04
22 FFFF FFFF FF05
23 FFFF FFFF FF06
24 FFFF FFFF FF07
25 FFFF FFFF 1821
26 1BFF 3058
Forscan is not giving me an option to disable CC, so I can't turn it off and see what changes.
What you could do is save your ASB file, and then overwrite yours with the data above. That should enable CC. Just check that all your other features work. For example, my car does not have fog lights. If yours does, then the above file will probably disable them.
Have a play around and let me know how you go.

Hi @OtterpartsNL,
I got a wrecked DE Mazda 2 without cruise control today, and I used ForScan to look at the details. It gave me the 'easy mode', which gave me all the options, and explained why it didn't work on your Mazda 2. The Mazda 2 options are:
0 - not configured.
1 - no cruise control (that's what the wreck had set in its config)
2 - cruise control.
Hi Tonny,
The Mazda 2 (Demio) cruise control options are:
0 - not configured.
1 - no cruise control (that's what my wreck had set in its config)
2 - cruise control.
Can you please install a 4 pin brake switch, and then only increment the CC value by one instead of two and let me know?
Paul.
