    Tim Stone at Rock, Paper, Shotgun has been kind enough to write a very generous preview. Hope we can live up to it! www.rockpapershotgun.com/2017/06/30/the-flare-path-burden-of-command/

    This looks wonderful and looks like something I have wanted for many years. I have always wanted a WW2 or historical war based RPG. This looks like it could curb that itch.

      Burden of Command Choice of Games Forum. Specifically Guns of Infinity. One of the writers, Paul Wang, made a post telling us about it.

    I have a lot of faith in this project. Also, it's about the "forgotten" part of the western front, Italy and Southern France, which makes it even more interesting. Can't wait to put my hands on it, especially after the Rock Paper Shotgun interview. Best of luck!

    • @burdenofcommand2094

      Thank you for that Fritz. Yes it's been pretty interesting digging into archive and books on these forgotten fronts. Glad you like the interview. Hope you'll come join us on Twitter (@BurdenOfCommand) or FB.

      Hey Semo Monkey, thanks so much! Comments like yours mean a lot to the team after a long hard period of work! Cool avatar/icon BTW. How did you spot us? And might I ask what are some of your favorite games?

    • @semomonkey
      @semomonkey 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Battle Brothers re-tweet is where i found you guys. Obviously that is one of my favorite games. In fact calling it the game of the year would be more accurate. At least for me. I actually send you guys an e-mail with a link to my steam profile. That should pretty much answer your question. But in short turn based strategy and RTS are a long time favorite of mine. Also sim and tycoon games. Haven't played a RPG in a while but i love stuff like gear and upgrading stats. Making you're own army is always more fun then getting a pre made set of units. I'm not big on Trippel A titles as they are expensive and most of the time have little replay value. And ofc some MP titles sneak in just coz everybody els is playing it ;) But more often then not i end up running a server or a clan for those games instead of playing it a lot :D

      Skinnyjean, project lead Luke here, you sir are a sharp lookout. How did you spot us? We just did a soft launch yesterday. If you want to learn more BTW we just got our first article at Rock, Paper, Shotgun. www.rockpapershotgun.com/2017/06/30/the-flare-path-burden-of-command/ Plus you made the artists day :-) May I ask what are games you like? Hey Skinnyjean, you just made our hard-working artists VERY happy! :-) Indeed, one of the unique elements we are trying to build into the game is an art style not normally found in a game based in WWII. Thanks for the immediate response to it! :-)

      I heard about this game from a Battle brothers retweet, so came straight here! I like turn based games for sure, But anything with a morale system incorporated into it always appeals to me, as well a game with RPG elements, as long as its fresh and new of course! Good luck with the game, will defo keep a eye on it :)

      The amazing thing about WW2 battlefields is something like 8000 bullets were fired per any kind of casualty. Leaving aside artillery (especially mortars which were deadly) much of the fight was about morale and suppression not firepower per se. Battle Brothers is great the way it highlights Morale events. I plan to steal, opps, LEARN from them ;-)

    This game reminds me of choose your own adventure books which i was a big fan of as a kid. Hopefully because this is a game the options are plentiful and the replay value is high.

    • @burdenofcommand2094
      @burdenofcommand2094  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The old choose your own were great fun.. (Lone Wolf anyone?!) but there has been some nice modern integration of that concept into larger systems. Take a look at some Let's Plays for say Banner Saga, Expeditions Vikings, or Shadowrun: Hong Kong and that should make the modern incarnation in tactical RPGs clearer :-) And thanks Inferno102.

    I hope that there will be a Pacific campaign in the future and will there be a medal system

    • @burdenofcommand2094
      @burdenofcommand2094  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi would definitely like to Pacific. Guadalcanal or Kokada trail. One our writers is keen to do Chinese Civil War. As for island warfare like described in “With the Old Breed,” wow so grim. So grim. But probably should do. 😬 Any campaigns you’d suggest or small unit accounts (a la Band of Brothers)? We note thrm all down.
      Medals defintitely thought about and think wedo a bit in fiction. Not sure we’ll get a system going in v1. So many ambitions LOL.

    • @hamstel4540
      @hamstel4540 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@burdenofcommand2094 Thats sounds cool i would love to see the Kokada trail it's something we dont see much of and the Old Breed would also be cool. Chinese Civil War thats something i dont now much of but would be interested in it. what i would also suggest for a idea for a potential DLC is using a a green unit that fights the germans during the last part of the war where the germans are veterans and your unit is green as grass for example the 78th infantry or 70th infantry. also perhaps another idea would involved the 5th Marines and the fight in Iwo Jima recommended documantary *The Boys of H Company*

    • @burdenofcommand2094
      @burdenofcommand2094  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hamstel95 will look that documentary up. Well as Cottonbalers, while not “green” when they reach Sicily... fighting Germans for first time will not be like fighting reluctant Vichy or Italians 😉
      Oh and Burma campaign would be fascinating.
      So many stories to rell.

    • @hamstel4540
      @hamstel4540 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@burdenofcommand2094 thats true about the Cottonbalers and i find it cool that we get to see there side of the story for once and the 3rd infantry. and indd there are so many stories to tell about WWII thats insane. I will be looking forward to how this project will go it seems that the ambition is there and the idea is solid i will be looking forward :) to it release. Btw i would really recommend to check out the documentary The Boys of H Company

    • @burdenofcommand2094
      @burdenofcommand2094  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My apologies for missing this question A.J. Ha time for my MEA CULPEA. My brilliant leadership insisted we put in teaser '2018' despite team saying "NO LUKE SAY 'WHEN IT's DONE.' But of course I knew better. Sigh. So the answer is now not 2018 but when it's done ;-) However, on the upside we should have an new tactical gameplay teaser for you soon (shooting for mid this month)and also going live on our Steam page (NOT game release ;-) ). Also the Steam page forums will have a road map so you can track our progress in spirit of open development. Luke (project lead)

      I will totally admit I’m quite the fan boy too. We’re getting you emotionally connected to the men under your command and putting you in terribly awkward situations are one of the things he’s really good at. Making you tug between your personal goals the goals of the country and your mission versus the survival of the men. That is painful.

    its a great concept for a game but the graphics look outdated so I doubt its gonna gain much attention since a lot of people nowadays only look at graphics and multiplayer aspects in games

    • @burdenofcommand2094

      Terence. Much truth in that. But we are small and I wanted painterly rather than one more 3D. You can help us by spreading the word if you like it still. Dramatic graphics not always required: see success of for example: Into the Breach. Maybe we should have gone for pixel art! cheers, Luke (project lead)

    You lost me at "The nazis are determined..." That's North Africa, those are Afrika Korps guys, that's the last theater were war was conducted in a respectful and chivalric way. Those guys deserve a better treatment than the overused, lazy and generic "nazi" term people refer to every german combatant in WWII.

    • @burdenofcommand2094
      @burdenofcommand2094  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Excellent standpoint. However we are taking the american viewpoint in the narrative. And for them they were fighting Nazi's. When we do a german campaign we will have quite a different mindset. BTW strictly speaking first landing and fighting is against Vichy. But we simplified for the teaser. Though ultimately they were trying to surround the Africa Korps (with Montgomery). Thanks for you making sure we're careful. - Luke

    • @burdenofcommand2094
      @burdenofcommand2094  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      BTW an excellent book on the relatively chivalric behavior is Panzer Commander by Hans von Luck. Read it? Fascinating.

    • @TakedaMauro
      @TakedaMauro 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the promp response. For sure I'll be checking the game progress, more so now that you're talking about a german campaign.
      And yes, Panzer Commander is an excellent read, that goodbye letter that von Luck receive from the Royal Dragoons really is a "faith in humanity restored" moment.

    • @burdenofcommand2094

    • @burdenofcommand2094
      @burdenofcommand2094  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      our current thinking BTW on German: late war, good kit but every victory is pyrrhic because you can't replace the losses. Plus you increasingly realize your side is not going to win and maybe you aren't even on the right side. So "victory" becomes saving your men. any thoughts or advice you have would be of interest.
