Yes all things do change with age. My daughter has improved dramatically from age 3/4 n she's 6 now but we still have a long way to go but most of the things that we used to struggle with have improved but new things start. Things don't always get better just different.
So what happens when Abby behaves so badly. Is there any discipline? I’m not saying beat her. I’m just wondering how can she be taught that is not acceptable? I think she understands more than people realize. She certainly has no problems communicating she is hungry. So she has to understand she isn’t supposed to pour juice in car.
They have talked about this before. They try to reward positive behavior. When they can, they have her clean up her mess. I don’t think today she would have been receptive to cleaning up juice. It may have lead to a melt down. It also may have been too far removes time wise from the time they got home. They also have to be careful of tone. She loves chaos. If they yell or get real angry Abbie thinks it’s funny and will continue to do the behavior.
Abbie was "abused" by a caregiver when she was younger. They discipline her, but are careful how they do it. They don't want her mistreated again. This is why they are Soo patient and gentle with her. 👑Princess Abbie is very LOVED💗
@@amandajoaquim9420 I don’t think she was making a rude comment. I thought she was asking a question to try to understand Abbie better. There are days that Abbie is destructive on purpose. Yes, this video Abbie was having sensory issues and could not help a lot of her actions but there are days she knows better and does things anyway.
Yes, Cilla, those of us in cold climates have the same issues with trees drying out. They may dry out even faster here because the heat is on all the time. It does help to cut 2-4” off the end before you put it in the stand (which I’m sure you did) but the sap eventually runs down and seals the end again so it stops absorbing water. @@JB-ln2nx absolutely not but I think you seem to not realize that Abbie can, and I believe, does consent by her participation and cooperation. She's a very intelligent young lady and she has no trouble communicating how she feels about things to her family. I see a pretty typical teenager when I see Abbie. She's not always happy and doesn't always want to be bothered and that's when her parents leave her out of the videos and give her space. She's not in every second of every video. Having been able to see Abbie grow and learn has reassured me that my own grandson is going to be able to make his own way someday and has helped me teach him things in a way that helps him best learn. I understand the wanting to love, and honestly if that’s the move to do to keep your own frustration from blowing then do it! No need to explain why, it’s hard some days. Fighting aggression with more aggression can just cause a larger mess than to take a minute or two to calm down and hug.

@@Lori_in_CT it seems so, the governors are micro managing every state, even every county. I know this is the first time in 100 years for our world to experience a pandemic so we are kinda learning as we go. It would be a lot easier if everyone did the same. I miss restaurants and family gatherings.
I'm sorry about the trash in your truck. I get the irritation. I'm ALSO glad it was put somewhere other than in the parking lot or a bush. Thx for taking one for the Earth. Also, you MAY do this, I don't know. But a trick to giving fresh trees extra life is to cut the old end off at a slight angle (before putting in the stand) so it has fresh cells exposed to drink water.
When you were talking about change it reminded me of something that happened a couple years ago. There was a girl a lot like Abbie that would join my 5th grade class. Her name is Jill. A couple years ago, as I was walking into the store, Jill and her carer came walking out. Out of instinct I said “Hi Jill!” as I passed. Her carer asked me how I knew her. I explained how she was in my class and how she taught us some sign, how we could communicate with her, and how to dance to her music. Thinking back on it when you were talking about change made me realize that Jill wasn’t as loud as she used to be. She also was able to stand still. She used rock from side to side. I guess my point is that just like everyone else, they will grow, mature, and change. 😁
When you bring the tree home cut a fresh slice off the bottom. If the tree has been cut any length of time and is not in water the bottom of the trunk dries out and then water is not able to soak up into the tree. Give it a fresh cut and then make sure it always has water.
Our tree was cut off the ground when we picked it out. Like...still in the ground fresh. Of course when they come from tree farms up north we get a fresh cut.
My tree has always had water but it was super dry still. And I love how you guys still take Abbie out and try things even though it can get challenging
Thank you for showing the frustration side of being a parent and having an autistic child. Everyday is a learning curve. The moment you decided to love on her after the juice incident was such a loving moment. I have focused on that as well with my boys. Less frustration. More accepting
Fun time of the year forsure. Does Abby get excited for Christmas? Also our trees in the north dry too. When we get our tree we cut a few inches off the bottom just before we put it up incase the sap closed it off. Then I water with warm water every day seems to keep it fresh. You can also buy bottle of tree fresh to pour in the stand. But we have a crazy cat that licks the tree water so we dont use that. Hope you had a nice Christmas holiday.
I may have put a trash bag in the back of someone's truck one. But so did several other people. This was many years ago when we lived in an apartment. This guy use to always park his truck in non-parking spots, and the office staff was actually afraid of him, so they would let him get away with it. One night, he parked his truck totally blocking the dumpster. Over the course of the night, he ended up with at least 20 bags of trash in the back of his truck.
I think a lot of time it's the difference of parents! My son who acts like a horse's hindend with me and is great for his uncle. Lol He is high functioning autistic and ADHD. He will give me the devil and be good for anyone else! It is a challenge for me some days! But y'all give me faith that it's all going to be okay! I love you guys and tell everyone about you vlog!
Have you been using your air con, or heating ? That dries your tree out. Water or no water. That’s why I opted for a massive fake tree, this year. First time in twenty years. I actually like it. And I am not constantly vacuuming up pine needles. I noticed the last couple of years the tree dying before Christmas. And it kind of hurts my heart. So I thought I would try and be more sustainable. And see if my fake tree lasts for twenty years. Ab had a hard day. She will have a better day tomorrow . I think she knows she can play Cilla up, more so than Ace. Ace is much more firm with her.👍💜👍💜👍💜👍💜👍💜👍💜👍💜👍💜👍💜
The "after the beep". 😂 Merry Christmas, Maas Squaad! To answer Cilla's question, I live in WA. I usually have a fake tree these days because I feel like it's less of a fire hazard. Also, tree water can be toxic to cats, and I don't want to risk that. Our trees get dry up here, too. One general rule of thumb I've heard is to cut the tree after the first hard frost, which, of course, you guys don't get. That supposedly makes the tree last longer. I might get a "real" tree again someday.
Merry CHRISTmas Moss Family!! Pray y'all have a blessed one. We have three inches of snow right now it has been snowing for 2 hours. They are calling for 5-6 inches all together. Love y'all
That must be really terrible hey, can't put the presents under the Christmas tree!?!?!? That is so bad, really terrible hey! Your son will destroy them presents, really!?!? That's absolutely horrible! Don't you like teach him or smack him or something!? Sweet Keep well and be safe everyone!
@@BrookeKatherine. that's how I was taught growing up. When I was a kid and was disobedient and words weren't enough to get me to comply a couple of smacks got me to behave well. Today I believe I have manners and that I'm well behaved 35 year old man. I honestly don't mean beat the living daylights out of the kid!! Please don't get me wrong! I mean all you really have to do is get your kid to respect your authority, not to be afraid of you! I'd never wanna smack a child but if he doesn't understand when to stop and if he is not behaving like a normal kid should then all that should be enough is just you raising your voice. Anyway, I didn't want to sound all violent and stuff, just wanted to express how my parents dealt with me! Cz for me it was apparently very effective! I don't remember my mom or dad smacking me at all, and when I asked them they told me that my dad only once ever smacked me and that's all it took for me to behave well after that.. I never was afraid of my dad, always loved him and he always was super cool and awesome with me. My mom used to smack me more often, apparently, but I also don't remember any of that really! So it's only when words don't work at all and you still want something normal to become out of your kid. Sweet Keep well and be safe everyone! PS: Merry Christmas!!! 😁🛸🌍🌃🇧🇬

Perhaps it is the same for Abbie and the sensory things she struggles with.
Merry Christmas Eve you guys! As for the tree yes. We've had the most issue here in Alaska keeping the tree from being dry. Water often and flower food helped. It could also be the type of tree. I like that phrase, things don't get better they get different.

We’re not worried about getting her to stop and it will only be for a little while. She’s so young, we just wanna make beautiful Christmas memories while she’s still itty bitty! She’s also enamored by the lights 😍
THATS NOT FUNNY
hide the gifts and put them out christmas eve when she is sleeping!!!
@@sunshinenickerson9679 that’s 100% what we did on that lol
One year we had a tree that was so dry we almost believed that it would light itself on fire if we tried to touch it.

Agree!
She was experiencing sensory overload..do your research before u make rude comments
@@amandajoaquim9420 I don’t think she was making a rude comment. I thought she was asking a question to try to understand Abbie better. There are days that Abbie is destructive on purpose. Like the day she dumbed out the dog food. She had to clean that up. Yes, this video Abbie was having sensory issues and could not help a lot of her actions but there are days she knows better and does things anyway.
Taking your cars to be detailed seems like a pretty staple gift to one another.
Marry Christmas to all in this site and to the Maas family!!! 🎄🎅🏼⛄️🎁
I love the relationship between Abbie and Issa
Hope you guys have a great and Merry Christmas 🎄 thank you for doing what you do. You're helping so many and I appreciate you ❤️
They exploit Abbie who cannot legally consent, what they do is wrong. You should not support
@@JB-ln2nx that's your opinion and I happen to disagree. Abbie's story is an important and inspiring one. The information shared by the Maas family has helped countless other families and watching Abbie's growth and all of her successes is inspiring, no matter who you are. In case you hadn't noticed, Miss Abbie has a mind of her own and I have a distinct feeling, that if she doesn't want to do something, it's not going to happen. I'm sorry you feel the way you do because it's just untrue. I feel like I do because I have someone who is on the spectrum and even though our situation very different, it's the same in many ways and I have gotten solid info and a ton of hope from them. We'll have to agree to disagree on this ✌🏼❤️
@@bethroesch2156 I dont disagree that some content can be educational, but they don't need Abbie in the videos to do it. Using Annie is exploitation because she cannot consent.
Do you agree with exploitation of children?
This family has helped my family be able to communicate better, manage expectations in a much better way and be closer to a kid who's not easy to get close to and Abbie has been an excellent teacher.
I'm sorry, we'll just have to agree to disagree on this because I don't feel they exploit her, I feel that people underestimate her ✌🏼❤️
Love you all Merry Christmas Eve 🎄⛄️
I understand the wanting to love, and honestly if that’s the move to do to keep your own frustration from blowing then do it! No need to explain why, it’s hard some days. Fighting aggression with more aggression can just cause a larger mess than to take a minute or two to calm down and hug.
I've never even thought to put trash in someone's truck bed. Had no idea that was a thing.
Oh it is especially if you live in a small country town.. ugh! Trust me.. LOL

A very merry Christmas to you all
When you were talking about change it reminded me of something that happened a couple years ago.
You have the patience of Job. May God bless you.
The trees are cut long prior to purchase. When you get your tree home make fresh cut on stump and place in warm water.
Our tree was cut off the ground when we picked it out. Like...still in the ground fresh. Of course when they come from tree farms up north we get a fresh cut.
My tree has always had water but it was super dry still. And I love how you guys still take Abbie out and try things even though it can get challenging
Merry Christmas!!! We all have had harder days out with our kids! Lol at the end of a harder day I just want a hug too. Y’all’s videos make my day!
Merry Christmas Eve to the Maass family🎄🎄🎄!
Abbie’s laughter is infectious ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you for showing the frustration side of being a parent and having an autistic child. Everyday is a learning curve. The moment you decided to love on her after the juice incident was such a loving moment. I have focused on that as well with my boys. Less frustration. More accepting
Education is great, however what this channel does is exploit Abbie.
@@JB-ln2nx poor Joe, not getting the attention you were looking for?
Fun time of the year forsure. Does Abby get excited for Christmas?
Also our trees in the north dry too. When we get our tree we cut a few inches off the bottom just before we put it up incase the sap closed it off. Then I water with warm water every day seems to keep it fresh. You can also buy bottle of tree fresh to pour in the stand. But we have a crazy cat that licks the tree water so we dont use that. Hope you had a nice Christmas holiday.
Happy Christmas Eve everyone ❤️

I may have put a trash bag in the back of someone's truck one. But so did several other people. This was many years ago when we lived in an apartment. This guy use to always park his truck in non-parking spots, and the office staff was actually afraid of him, so they would let him get away with it. One night, he parked his truck totally blocking the dumpster. Over the course of the night, he ended up with at least 20 bags of trash in the back of his truck.
what happened after that? did he exact some form of revenge?
@@jaytotheell Nope, but he never blocked the dumpster again, and after another couple months, never even saw the truck again.

Oh boy I’m glad you were stopped when she unclipped her buckle it could have become very dangerous very fast! Merry Christmas 🎄 Mass squad & Family!!
The "after the beep". 😂
Merry Christmas, Maas Squaad!
One year we woke Christmas morning with tree needles all over gifts and floor and a bare tree with ornaments. I hope it lasts for you all!
Why does Amy always have a heavy pack on her back even when you all go for walks no one else have one x

My cat will get in to my present before my kids will wrapped or not
@@ivanjdrakov1957 Why would you smack a child unless you have severe anger problems and want that child to be scared of you?

I struggle with sensory issues when leaving the house if I have been home for all or most of the previous day. I think everything, particularly the volume of the world is more intense if I have been out of the environment for a day or so.
