- Isshiki Beach in Hayama Town, located in the western part of Miura Peninsula in Kanagawa Prefecture.
This time, we went beachcombing there and found shells, seashells, and drifted fossils living in the stones. Isshiki Beach is said to be a sacred place for beachcombing.

The chamois mussel is distributed from southern Hokkaido to Kyushu, and lives in holes in mudstone in the intertidal zone.
Shell length is 40 mm, shell height is 15 mm, and shell width is about 15 mm.
Cautions for beachcombing
When beachcombing in summer, be sure to bring a hat, sunscreen, and a drink to prevent heat stroke.
Also, there are sharp objects lying around on the beach, so you will need equipment to protect your feet and hands.

When there are many people on the beach, it may be difficult to find your collection, or it may be broken by being stepped on.
When beachcombing, it is recommended to visit between October and March, when the beach is not crowded with bathers and the rules of the beach are obeyed. The day after a windy day or after a typhoon has passed is the best time to go!
It is said that the best time to target the beach is at low tide when the beach is wider.

シーグラスや貝など拾ったりしますが、化石も!? 一色海岸はけっこう通るんですけど、知らなかったなあ。
コメントありがとうございます。貝も貝化石も同じように見えますが、地層の石がこびりついてるので観察してみてくださいね。運がいいとカニやサメの歯の化石も同じように見つかるそうです。
