- We went fossil digging in Ogano Town, Chichibu County, Saitama Prefecture!
This production area has strata from the Mesozoic and Cretaceous periods (about 145 to 66 million years ago), when there were dinosaurs. A very attractive place to potentially get ammonites from, even in the Kanto area!

40年前に二子山登山に行きましたがその途中がここと同じ白亜紀層ですよね。
二子山では二畳紀のフズリナや昔は綺麗な方解石が出た所で古生物学にも鉱物も
魅力ありです。
と峠越せば瀬林の恐竜足跡も。
秩父は第三紀か古生代までの化石の宝庫だと思ってます。
三角貝は銚子産のを持ってます。
コメントありがとうございます。二子山は埼玉の端っこですが石スポットとして熱いですね。銚子の白亜紀層も時代はかなり秩父や群馬と近いみたいで興味があるのですが、現在は採集に出かけられる場所もあまりないようで羨ましいです。
