Since Spring hit I’ve been in book mode. On my breaktime everyone is on their phone in a tiny breakroom watching the blue light I’ll pull out a paper copy of On the Road and indulge for a bit in the outdoor seating area.
Productivity - the key is in how it is measured. It depends on how much you get for your work, and then no one can wonder why it is somehow connected with satisfaction.
Omg... Hearing lana speak in swedish was so nice. Young Royals is one my favorite series of all time and seeing someone speak swedish always fascinates me. Something about this language is so kind and yet so assertive. Please make videos in Swedish 🥲🤍
perfect timing, tomorrow i'm traveling to stockholm for my very first abroad solo trip (also flying for the very first time), i'm super excited and can't wait to feel the city vibe
I live in Europe too and having studied geography in high-school, we've often been taught about Sweden and other Scandinavian countries as exemplary countries and case studies to look up to, so this was very interesting! If you wanted to do a longer video comparing living in LA vs Sweden, I'd be curious too
I have to get to Sweden some day, it looks like such a beautiful country! Awesome discussion, Lana! There is nothing more important than health and happiness! Great healthy habits. Keep being your awesome self, Lana!
Lana, your videos have really been helpful. A reminder to keep going on, and keep doing what you are doing, you are amazing at it. Really got to learn some beautiful words, always pretty good to find out habits and day to day traditional little things about other culture. Diversity is what keep us sane and humane. Keep Shining ✨
Thanks for another great video, Lana! I'm an American, and I never wear shoes to bed and I can't speak for every American but I don't think most others do either lol. When I was younger, I always wondered why they do that in movies too and I used to think something's wrong with me for not wearing shoes to bed lol but I suspect it's because it looks better on camera for the actors to be wearing shoes than just in their socks or barefoot. There are a lot of things I think filmmakers portray differently on film than in real life just because of the aesthetic they're going for. But I could never do that in real life, it sounds way too uncomfortable 😂😂
In terms of productivity, one thing that ironically works positively for Sweden is the fact that there is not a huge disparity in salaries, partially due to taxes becoming more punitive as you enter higher income brackets. That means that people will be less likely to climb the ranks just to have higher income (since salary does not differ that much) as they do in other countries. In other countries often people who are not intrinsically suited for higher roles (think managerial) end up staying in them due to higher incomes only, not because they enjoy it or they are particularly good at those jobs. Here in Sweden is not unusual for people to try managerial roles and step down after a while, something which would frowned upon in other countries. Thus people are more likely to choose roles that they enjoy more which increases the likelihood of them being productive since they are doing the job for the right reasons.
This is my first time again to watch your videos after following what you said to take a break in watching your videos for a month. But guess what, it's been months now, and these past few months went really great. Thank you for your videos.
It's so important to cherish your daily life! That makes up most of our days, so it's necessary to feel comfortable being with oneself and to care for one's own good. Very nice vlog, I'd love to see more of the positive selfcare!
I was waiting a video about your country Sweden!!! That day has come!!! I really like your country and i hope one day to visit these awesome and calm and relaxed places.
Really liked the concept of Lagon and Niksen...... Almost all habits I am applying daily...... These exist for almost all nations, it's just that they exist by different name ! Would love to have your video in Swedish Lana soon......just make sure you have subtitles on!
I find it amazing how you have a perfect American accent after only living in the states for 2 years. When I first started watching I thought you were American with familial ties to Sweden, and now learning your Swedish and only spent a short stint in the states, and not even as a child which is when the brain soaks up languages to this level, it’s unbelievable how you manage to sound so American. What’s your trick ?
Love all your content, thank you. The word or phrase I've always used and practice that's similar to lagom is "everything in moderation." I guess it's different, when uing it in the context you mentioned. You wouldn't say moderation, when asked how much chz on pasta. But, it's the same principle that I've lived by.
Interestign concept :"lagam".....sounds like the Buddhist concept of equanimity..just right /in the middle. Gratttitude which basically is the ability to appreciate things in life...and have a healthy hearty way of seeign and experiencing the world...definitely a major key for health and happiness.
If you were to do a video in Swedish I’d watch it if you had English subtitles. Maybe start with a 5-10 minute video to test things out but I like your content and it might be interesting
Now, I want to visit Sweden after seeing this video Lana, LOL! Thank you, for such a great video. Also, I am a huge reader so I might sign up for Shortform.
I’m an LA native. You won’t catch us walking here as much as Stockholm because Los Angeles consists of 88 cities and spread apart through nature - that’s how large it is so it would be unreasonable to not use a car. People, however, do walk a lot, and ride bikes throughout many places in LA, just not the path you took from UCLA to Beverly Hills.
Such a great video, the scenery is fantastic! It makes me want to go and visit your beautiful country...the level of detail and effort that you put into your videos makes them really top quality 👌and so worth of my time 🙌I am curious to taste your pizza now perche in Italia certamente la pizza (e non solo) è una delizia! 😉Niksen = Dolce Far Niente in italian
Americans do not wear shoes to/in bed. My friends and I find it strange that they do that in film/TV. Some people do where shoes inside homes, but definitely not in bed. The media is weird
I've never intentionally worn shoes to bed, but accidentally, yes. I will have to watch those commercials more closely, I've never noticed people wearing shoes to bed in those. Some Americans do take their shoes off inside the house and others don't. Sometimes it's a regional tradition though, in Alaska it is almost universal to take your shoes off at home, especially if you are visiting someone else.
The big difference with the past is that people ate those buns or other 'special foods' only during those holidays, or anyhow just a few times per year. Now people live in abundance (created through severe exploitation) and eat those foods on a daily basis /several times per day with dire consequences on the animals and Planet Earth.
please do a Swedish video with English subs! i loved watching young royals with subs and my mother is fluent- it's such a beautiful language and I'm so happy to be visiting Stockholm this summer
I think swedes need to get over this concept that taking your shoes off inside is somehow special because I cannot think of a single place where that isn't done. I have been to many US states and many countries in europe and I have never, ever gone to someone's house and NOT taken my shoes off. I do love all the small traditions though, and of course, fika.
Vi behöver en video på svenska. Du pratar med jättefint flow på engelska, så blev caught ofguard när du pratade SÅ fint på svenska. Vet inte om det är ovanan men damn 😂
Idk if its so much their habits, as much as its just they live in a great country lol. I can make as many changes as I want, I still live in the suburbs of the US. It will never compare to somewhere like North Sweden
I had never heard of Swedish, it's nice...which one does it look like? Does it have a common root with anyone else? For example, the Latin root of Spanish, French, Italian?... This video has awakened my interest in Sweden! By the way...what do you think about the documentary The Swedish Theory of Love? (that greatly reduced my interest in the Nordic countries)
@@jozefinangelique Thank you for your response 🤔 Interesting to know 😃😃😃 Some people told me that the documentary was made by an Italian guy to keep women at home, to maintain women's slavery in domestic labor… Do you think the documentary is rooted in misogyny? It's another opinion I heard. If you don't think so, can you tell me why? I'm grateful you answered the question 🙏
I'm gonna say something extremely political and controversial, but i hope Sweden preserves its culture. Preserve its religion and tradition for many many years to come.

American here, I do not wear shoes to bed. In fact when I get home the first thing I do is takeoff my shoes and sometimes use my inside slippers….
Lana's Sunday uploads is like church to me. 😢
*the intro
Niksen sounds pretty much like Italian DOLCE FAR NIENTE. Love it!
Her features and voice are very soothing

One of my Swedish healthy habits is swedish pancakes. Or as you probably call them, pancakes.
I just realized I might be Swedish, I'm from Bulgaria, but I live by most of those habits and I didn't even knew.
Shoe point I agree too about Americans. We indians also don't wear shoes at home.❤
Hi Lana, I love your video. Can you please link me to the article about productivity you mentioned.
Ja, vi vill ha filmer på svenska i framtiden!
Awesome content.
Sv: Lagom - Eng: Moderate / Moderately
Lana you are a dope!!❤🤗
Would you like to have a coffee in Lagom measure with someone in South Africa in a Fika activity? Doing "Niks" (South African word.)
Hi Lana Blakely, perhaps the English word you are looking for to represent "Lagom" is "Moderate"?
I hope this helps
good day, live in motion, and love without pain, cause it comes within reasons

hello!!
You're so chill lol. :)
The whole wearing shoes indoors or even in bed is not really a thing in America. At least not in my family and social network.

It’s a quite accurate documentary. Swedish is similar to Norwegian, Danish and has some common words with German.

This is really ignorant but I always have perception of Swedish being blonde with blue eyes. Lana is beautiful naturally without even trying.
I’m sort of shocked I would assume LA would have more people walking around versus where I live in Sacramento?
I guess the English equivalent to lagom is ‘just right’ ? Like Goldilocks haha
I'm gonna say something extremely political and controversial, but i hope Sweden preserves its culture.
Preserve its religion and tradition for many many years to come.
I know the secret of the Swedes happiness….. IKEA Swedish meatballs…..

Guys I swear Americans DO NOT wear shoes to bed! That is actual insanity and I have no idea why it's like that in the movies 😂
In Bisaya (a Philippine dialect) lagom means something DARK in color 😅
Hi ! lana what do you do for living?
Be haith eating right good food be happy all day to God bless you too amen amen 😊😊
No shoes to bed!! What? We wear socks indoors a lot, some wear slippers, others always wear shoes indoors minus sleep. Depends
