i love the footage of mama goose w/ ducklings and observing how she's very watchful in the shelter, and her being gentle and relaxed with the chicks. a nice contrast bc normally you see angry hissing with lowered heads in most adult geese footage
Just found your channel the other day. Your issues with the hound hunters caught my attention, having neighbour issues myself. Property rights are always touchy. Like... you are a new arrival in the area, so the old timers have more rights than you do....RIIIIIIGHT! I live in downtown Toronto but spent 12 years north of the city on a small rural property. Nothing like yours, but you do remind me how much I loved wandering through our woodlot or tending my gardens. You've made me realize just how much I miss country life and the freedom to just sit and wonder at nature. The city has it's plus's, that's for sure, but there's nothing like country living.
If you're not planning on using the "nursery" for anything, would setting it up as an attractive place for mama's to nest, entice them to use it rather than someplace else? That way they would already be set up, you wouldn't have to catch them and they would be safe from the get go.

Aweeeee, my duckies have gone broody this summer too. One is on duck eggs and the other is actually on a clutch of chicken eggs! I'm super excited to see what happens, and it should be some time next weekend. Seeing your babies has gotten me all excited!

Going forward I hope the young females from this hatch, around to retain those genetics within the flock and hopefully in future years will be able to successfully hatch their own offspring naturally. It could be that Morgan needs to catch the first load of eggs in the early spring and hatch them in the incubator and leave the geese later on in the season to rear their own offspring. Simply because of the climate in Vermont. And also I’m pleased for Morgan because it’s given him a nice morale boost as well as five extra goslings.
AWWWW so cute! Nothing like a loving, protective mom and her babies! Might want to put a chick waterer in there for a few days, tho. That tub is fine when totally filled with water, but the goslings won't be able to drink once the water level goes down.
Even if you give up on it, you can't stop nature. New life is a much better morning surprise than some of the other things you've woken up to. Awesome!
I'm glad I watched this. I have a duck sitting on a nest right now, and I think that I would have let her roam. Now, I'm going to prepare a place for her and her babies of they hatch.

My geese heard your momma and the babies on the audio of your TH-cam video. All 8 of my geese surrounded me and were talking up a storm. They were talking at your goose and gosling. Every time she momma calls out they respond back at her. I only have 2 geese and the rest are males. Even when your entire flock were talking they were sounding off over here.

That sound like an easier said then done thing but a good idea
He use the nursery if there is a sick or injured farm animal and also a quarantine station for newly arrived animals
