At last! Someone has reacted to this diamond of a song, I first heard this when I was 15 or 16, I'm 74 now, and it's simple beauty still captivates me, oh, the power of music!!
Paul Simon wrote a lot of thought provocing lyrics as well. Here are a few such songs: "Dangling Conversation", "At The Zoo", "Richard Cory", "A Most Peculiar Man", "Sparrow", "The Leaves That Are Green" and "A Poem on the Underground Wall".
Hello, Saeed: It's me again. When I first saw the thumbnail, I thought you were going to listen to the wrong version but it turned out this is the very one that is my favourite. It is the one they picked for their Greatest Hits album. I have been a poet hobbyist since my mid teens (68 now) so I also appreciate good writing. This is wonderful and is one of the best displays of Art's vocal ability.
Paul Simon is , in my opinion, the greatest songwriter and composer of our era. I know people think that Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan are but nobody has the lyrical depth and the musical scope of Paul Simon.
Always loved the music of Simon and Garfunkel. Absolutely stunning vocal performance. As pure as a newborn's breath. TX Saeed. Appreciate you. Greetings from South Africa
One of their most beautiful songs. Paul Simon is an amazing songwriter. Art Garfunkel sang this one, but their harmonization is truly special too. Love their music. Timeless songs. Thanks for reacting to them. Great reaction!❤
Oh my goodness. The gentleness of this beauty!!! I don't even care what they're saying. 😆 That melody is truly exquisite. I've always felt it might just be the most beautiful song ever. Of any time, any genre. 😌❤
So many of their poetic songs from the 60s are under appreciated . 'Old Friends ' paints a lovely picture for one. Thanks for sharing songs from my flower child days 😁🌻
Try Scarborough Fair / Canticle, it's 2 songs set in Counterpoint. One song is a English ballad from the Middle Ages, the other is an Paul Simon anti war song he wrote in his early 20's. There is a short version & a longer version. Do the longer version. The harmonies are beautiful.
One of my fav S & G! Songs! Thank you Leslie 😊. These guys are breathtaking. Loved Since i was a young girl. They played Cecilia at my first school formal dance when I was 12 in 1970...lol thanks for another gem😘
As many in the comments have said, this song needs to be reacted to more often. It is an amazing example of Paul Simon's lyrical ability coupled with Garfunkel's wonderful voice (and voicing). You will not be disappointed listening to more early S&G. Keep walking the path.
So happy you reviewed this one. Consider _Poem on an Underground Wall_, _April, Come She Will_, _Song for the Asking_, and _Cloudy_ as well. And for a light-hearted change of pace, _59th Street Bridge Song_ also known as Feeling Groovy.
In the late 80s, I received an invitation to visit a fellow student who was doing a semester at the American Center in Oxford England. I was older and thought it would be awkward, but I had always wanted to see England, so I agreed. When I got to the center, the students were all listening to Simon and Garfunkel. Talk about an ice breaker. Great reaction Saeed.
It amazes me how you select such exquisite songs to react to. Another beautiful classic that I have loved for years and rarely get to hear. My favorite duo of all time. Thank you and Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.
Truly beautiful song. I go where the people take me. This channel has taken me into unexpected and amazing directions. Thanks for joining me on this journey!
Love S&G. Inspired by the Everly Brothers musically, Paul Simon (writer) and Art Garfunkel (lead vocal on this song) had, to say the least, a complex relationship, their career as a duo lasting less than a decade (ca.1962-1970, directly contemporary with the Beatles), with occasional reunions for one-off concerts followed by long estrangements...but their sound as a duo was stunning. Another S&G ballad in a similar vein to this one, but with Simon singing lead, is Kathy's Song. Both partners had very substantial solo careers. Check out, for example, American Tune by Simon (its lyric is shatteringly apt now), or Bright Eyes by Garfunkel (written by Michael Batt for the soundtrack to the dark, adult animated film Watership Down)...
Wow! Finally someone does this song reaction! My favorite of their’s. I’m glad you loved this! I think you’d also like Kathy’s Song another great song by them.
Thank-you so much! This is such a beautiful song. It's not played as much as some of their other catalog, but was always a favorite of mine. I'm glad that you enjoyed it.
I'd been hoping you'd react to this one, it's such a beautiful song but for some reason it's not as well known. Art Garfunkel's voice is otherworldly. Thank you!
Please have a listen to S&G’s Scarborough Fair/ Canticle for a musical experience unlike anything you’ve ever heard. They took an old English folk song whose origins have been traced back to the 1670s and incorporated an anti-war song Paul wrote when he was playing solo gigs in Europe. They skillfully blended the two songs together that are completely unrelated lyrically and somehow create lightning in a bottle. It’s pure magic.
I played Guitar back then and my brother and I sang pretty well together--I the more 'tenor,' and he, a natural at harmony. For a time, we didn't seem to know any other song. Still one of my favroties.
It is little known but they after their initial success didn't get along and each went their different ways with Simon being the more successful of the two.

I am brought to tears and chills every, single time. Stunning beauty.
Truly beautiful song. Glad i was introduced to it. Thanks for watching.
@@brianmctague5723 totally gorgeous
One of their most beautiful tunes and it doesn't get played enough!
Essential Art Garfunkel: "All I Know", "Scissors Cut", and his masterpiece and my favorite of all his songs "Bright Eyes"

The first few notes that Art Garfunkel sings in this song always give me chills. So perfect and ethereal....
1964 to 1970 they had five studio albums (not counting the graduate). Each is just packed with great songs
One of their loveliest songs and it seems it's mostly forgotten. Thanks Leslie and Saeed.

An understand but beautiful song by them 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Still makes me cry all these years later.
Maybe I am an old romantic, but this song and Kathy's Song are my favorite Simon and Garfunkel songs.
So many of their poetic songs from the 60s are under appreciated . 'Old Friends ' paints a lovely picture for one. Thanks for sharing songs from my flower child days 😁🌻

One of their best.
It reminds of first thing in the morning as the sun comes up watching the countryside wake up

this has always been one of my favorites. it evokes such an image of time and place and feeling.
In the late 80s, I received an invitation to visit a fellow student who was doing a semester at the American Center in Oxford England. This is one of a handful of songs that always brings a tear to my eye. (Joni Mitchell's "A Case of You" is another.) Magical, romantic.
It amazes me how you select such exquisite songs to react to. Another beautiful classic that I have loved for years and rarely get to hear. My favorite duo of all time. Thank you and Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.

My pleasure. I appreciate your reactions.@@SaeedReacts.
The Boxer is a must listen.
Angel voice: Karen Carpenter, David Gates and Art Garfunkel. What a writer is Paul Simon!❤
Whoa, what a "Peter, Paul and Mary" trio that would have made...
@stevetournay6103 True! 😄

Not to be picky but the title is "For Emily, "wherever" I may find her"., it's my very favorite song by Simon and Garfunkel...
I haven’t heard this one in years and years? So beautiful!
Thanks, Saeed!
Thanks for revisiting it with me!
🌸 this is a beautiful song and it showcases Art's voice
You should try Old Friends, Richard Cory, A Peculiar Man, and El Condor Pasa. Paul is so good at setting the scene and telling stories. A true poet.
I'd been hoping you'd react to this one, it's such a beautiful song but for some reason it's not as well known. Art Garfunkel's voice is otherworldly. Thank you!
To my mind, "America" is even more story like. I would put it up there with the Beatle's "Eleanor Rigby."
The 60$ were the greatest decsde for music
yep great songwriter probably the best in pop music industry !
Love this timeless songs. I love your reaction . ❤ another song from them is called Leaves That Are Green. A short song but very well written.
Beautiful song. Thanks for watching and the recommendation.
👍😊HOMEWARD BOUND💯TAKE GREAT CARE SAEED!
Thanks for the recommendation, Bob!

Thank you, Saeed, for your attention to this song. It is one of my favorites, like a sweet Shakespearean sonnet.
It really is an amazing song. Thanks!
❤❤❤
❤️❤️❤️
It broke my heart when they broke up
Great reaction, great song. You must check out Kathy's Song, which is an even better song imo. You'll love it.
Really great song! Thanks for watching and the recommendation
