- AMA DISTRICT 14 HARE SCRAMBLE: This was my first ever Hare Scramble and this race did not disappoint! This course was pounded by rain for two prior to the race and made for some interesting terrain. Towards the second lap ruts were so deep I started taking to myself about WHAT AM I DOING HERE? 😂😂 Seriously though I learned a lot am already looking forward to the next one! I left out a ton of footage because people usually don’t watch for long but give this video a view.

Im here for a refresher on what I am getting myself into potentially. LOL. Doesnt look like they have gotten as much rain as it appears they did before this one though.
@@JMetal98 someone just told me it’s still dry there, but more rain looks like it’s on the way! Sounds like with a little bit more rain it could be PERFECT!

Is the camera on your helmet? Did anyone have an issues with you using a GoPro?
Yes it’s on a Dango Designs chin mount. Nobody cares if you have them on your helmet. I know it’s a AMA rule but most clubs don’t care, I was told if your at a bigger event more like something National someone might say something but not in your local events. P.S. love your channel, been watching for a long time! 🤙🏽

I wasn't there, but have run it many times. it's one of my favorite races, although it always seems to bite me. You did well,and stayed calm. One of the things I've struggled with most. I've watched your riding for a long time. You generally make good decisions, and could go far in the series. Not sure what class you chose, but I'd put you at a rear-mid B class. A few aggressive rides, you'll be upper-mid class. You're a solid rider. Trust yourself and the bike.

i was out there in the front of the 85cc class number 240 on a kawasaki but it was sooooo rough and gnarly by far the roughest one i ever did but ya know i got the overall win

Nice Job, Jeff! You’re a better rider than a lot of those guys. Glad you got to pass some of them. #39 and #90 were a mess. You’re bike was really capable on that terrain too! Too much chaos for me. I’m a little surprise you like being around so many bikes. Love your trail ride videos.

@@Captain250FX Sorry about that, Captain 250. I got out of bed, watched your video before my coffee. I still like your trail reviews. We are so lucky to have such great trails in Mi. Got a group of 10+ headed to Mack Lake this month for a semi-annual ride.

Just a couple tips for you since you’re starting harescrambles, I’m not saying that I’m a professional or anything but I noticed you staying behind a slower rider, one thing you can do is either use that to catch your breath and keep a steady pace or you can start looking for fast lines or a way to get around a group of riders stopped or stuck, this is just used for when you actually start racing, another thing that I do is I ride a track for the first lap to see what it’s all like and then try and go faster each lap and a tip for mud races is try and stay off the front break because the wheel will easily slide out but

I really appreciate those tips! I was definitely waiting to much when I could of been passing, but I just wanted to see how things work in a race. Hopefully next one I’ll get a little better, thanks man!

Future reference for when it comes to videoing your harescrambles. Use 1080p and then upscale (superscale if using Davinci Resolve) it to 4k so that way you can record for longer. Awesome riding!

@@Captain250FX I'm actually thinking about picking up an aftermarket battery cover (Ulanzi G8-7) for my Hero 8 so I can run a USB-C to a power bank.
I've used low temp hot glue to seal and secure cords through dry boxes for kayak races and I just pick it off after an event.

@@Captain250FX looks like it's gonna run me about $50. I might have to rig it up for Tomahawk this weekend. I'm currently using a ProShot mount with the bracket flipped so I can mount the camera upsidedown. I had clearance issues with the Dango when I would duck under a branch or look at the ground when stopped, plus it would shift when things got too bouncy. I didn't like the SoPro mount either. It was too close to my mouth inside my Fly helmets.
If I slap something together, I'll share some pics on Facebook. I'm gonna try a 3.3' 90⁰ USB-C along my helmet to the goggle pouch on my back pack. My cousin and I don't really stop to take breaks, so changing batteries is even more inconvenient, so I rarely bother filming anymore.

I was actually the engine light, I broke my air intake sensor. I ordered two today, one for a backup.

Enjoyed the video. Very good footage. On camera it appeared you were B much more I planted than many of the other riders … was that true and if so, how no much credit do i give the bike, as most seem to be on 2 strokes ?
Actually I’m in C-class, first race. I definitely could have ridden harder than I did but I was just getting to know how things work in a race. Also the bike is on rails! It’s a 4-stroke with good suspension work done to it. The faster you ride this FX the more stable it becomes!
