+flashwork Ah yes, that's a good idea. We have lots of plants and flowers here, so from spring to summer, you just have to go outside for reference ;).
I can't agree with you more. Honestly I find it difficult to make sprites for my games. I usually use sprites from open resource and all. Any tips on sprite making would be helpful.
+Games and Apps Making Tutorials (Gentle Pigeon Studios) It'll come at some point. I've already released art tutorials. You can check out Chris' blog for step by step game asset tutorials (based on inkscape for the most part): 2d-game-art-tutorials.zeef.com/chris.hildenbrand
I think all game developers should start with simple games and simple art and move on from there. As your experience grows and you get people to work with you, you can build up on that
+Christopher Butler (Zionviller) I too would like to know the name of it, if it is a dedicated reference board software. Also, do you know of any example GDD (Game Design Document) that could be used as an example for people starting out?
+Datchet I've seen some GDDs shared online, but they really aren't fit for small teams or people starting out. You don't write design documents the same way if you're in a small or a large team. You don't write GDDs the same way depending on the type of game you're working on. And it's a document that evolves with the game, so basically it ends up mirroring the unique aspects and subtleties of your very project.

+ivan grobenski I'd love to cover loooots of things! I think this topic wouldn't fit a video - it would need its own series. Unless I can get to work on tutorials/tutoring full time (I'm working towards that), I can't promise anything. But I'd like to talk about the specifics of creating environments for different kinds of games (sidescrolling, top down, isometric)
Hi! In your video you show a GDD about the game "Pimpin le lapin". Where did you find this document? Is it possible to have a copy of it as an example to create my documents? Also, is this game is available? I'll be happy to check it out :D
I wrote this gdd. Actually now, I would recommend not doing something like this. It's not available publicly, but you can send me a private message on Twitter, and I'll share a copy with you: twitter.com/NathanGDquest The game isn't available either. We paused development to make some money with my former partner, and abandoned the project afterwards.
Merci
This video is great! I wanted to make a game with my friend and now, thanks to GDquest, I know how to start!
For reference, biology and botany atlases are a great resource, and also watching movies with a specific theme, and taking screenshots.

+GDquest It's a very good idea to just go outside and get inspired by nature, but sometimes it rains, and now, winter is coming :)

+GDquest Thanks for this link! I really like the tutorials on 2d game art guru, but I never found a list of all, sorted in categories :)

Wow, that's what I am looking for!
Maybe you mentioned it already, but at 4:17, is that dedicated reference board software? If so, what's the name of it?

+Christopher Butler (Zionviller) Same here, I don't think he mentioned the name
+Christopher Butler (Zionviller) The software is free, and is called pureref, www.pureref.com

will there be any video on how to make good looking layered background for 2D platform games?
