I worked outdoors in rugged terrain most all of my life and I always liked red wing logger boots because they had 8" of lower leg/ankle support. Also, preferred them on my feet when riding the scooter.
I understand your sentiment. A good pair of boots are hard to replace or replicate. I have a pair that I wore for 15yrs. Work, plain riding, hunting, out for dinner, etc. I had 3 sets of soles put on em before I finally retired them.
I just bought a pair of boots called Battle Opps 8 inch high waterproof for my trip from NYC to Houston in May. Got them on Amazon only $115. I am very happy with them they needed so little break in and they were water proof for sure. I hit loads of rain on my 3 week trip and my feet stayed dry. Good video Joe.
The biggest advantage apart from the extra storage space for ME is the protection from the elements. For my old bones it can get too hot and too cold and obviously too wet and windy as well. BUT its a lot more fun riding a bike and like you said you can get deep into the woods and be completely stealth, so I guess while your young.... rsm8
Great video Joe, appreciate the shout out for Moto Giant, have only recently started following him, man it was a heart breaker seeing what happened to him. Myself and many others I’m sure are rethinking riding apparel, I have always worn “work boots” but am now considering true motorcycle boots. By the way Happy Birthday!
MC travel is pure fun. BUT the few times Ive take a self contained pleasure way camper van trip. It feels like pure luxury by comparison.. I must prefer abuse cause i still keep taking the motorcycle. ..Hey, happy birthday Joey. See ya sturgis again
Hey Joe, the one major advantage I can see for using the car is, If it starts to rain before you get to your spot, and if it continues to rain thru the night, all your stuff won't get as wet. Camping in a car might take some of the outdoor adventure out of the experience, but I know as well as you, camping in the rain sucks.,,,
I lived in a 94 jeep xj with my dog for over three months. Three stackable cushions made a great bed. Living in a town means up early and "on the move" or they will catch you for sleeping in your car.
I traveled in a 2001 Jeep Wrangler for a while and I have done the BMW motorcycle travel as well. I would not want an SUV without 4wd especially if you like rivers, lakes and streams. I used a cot in the Jeep to sleep on which allows storage beneath it.
Here's a very small two burner stove that you can carry on your bike it is called BRS-32 and I would purchase a propane adapter and a butane adapter for it as well so you can run three different fuels in it
Much prefer the motorcycle. May think the trike is an alternative at some point. The cages have much more suspension to deal with when it busts. Good video Joe.
We all at one point look at "van...gabonding" ! but damn it, here we are again in a cage, no smell, no wind, not really an Adventure as per said. I definitely prefers the bike over the van.But hey, who knows....As usual, a very good vlog..love it!
So much to comment on in this video. I pull a trailer and call it my two wheel glamper, or two wheel pickup at other times. I have the two burner stove, cooler, folding grill, chairs tent, etc. By myself, I could stay in a spot for a few weeks if I wanted. Especially if there's a good water source. But my mileage does drop about 5mpg and more if I do highways and interstates. So it's a trade off. But you still can't beat the feel of riding over driving.
Slept in similar looking SUV w/ folding seat situations and man, I would've killed for a tent and sleeping bag! I filled the gap like you but with plywood. Then I folded the front seat down and ran a 2x8 piece of plywood from the rear to front dash. Used a couple inches of foam. WAY worse than old 80's hide a bed. No comparison with tent camping To add: I've got the same Simpson helmet. A little louder than I'd like but all of the same benefits you mentioned. The noise appears to come through the foam around the ear. I'm thinking of adding a single strip of electrical tape on the foam, up against the shell so it doesn't scrape my ear or neck. I tested it with a finger over that area and it made a huge difference!
Great video Joe you should check out Georgia comfort core logger there are 3 types steel toe composite toe those two are waterproof and insulated the third one soft toe water proof not insulated ordered online maybe cheaper there a 9 inch upper they have a thick pad in the ankle area have good grip don't track a lot of dirt maybe they are in your price range love that music safe travels
When I heard Don describe his accident I thought of how important it is to make sure tie downs will not get caught up in a wheel if they should come lose. I had universal saddlebags with buckles to remove them. The part that tied to the frame needed to be tied so it wouldn't fall into the spokes if it came unbuckled.
Sucks what happened to Moto Giant. I like watching his channel too. Get some good boots that will give you some more protection when you can Joe. Love these videos, always looking forward to the next one.
A long way to go for a tire change, but having STS do it ads another story to the bike. Was surprised to see Allen "Suthern Superman". We did a big ride last year. I too have thought about 4 wheelin' it, but just can't give up the freedom of 2 wheels. Maybe when I hit 75, maybe. I've on carnivore since late October of 23. Have lost over 50 lbs and haven't felt this good in over 20 years. Even my arthritis has improved greatly. Thinking I'll stick with this one. Looking forward to the next video.. I'll be in California but not until mid July.
Great intro with music! Got to give that mushroom sauce a try. You definitely deserve a new helmet. The comparison between car and bike camping was on target. I feel the same. Cheers, mate.
Hello Joe, Online shopping is always cheaper and delivered to your place. I got a pair of touring boots years ago. Their still working great. Also waterproof. Oh yeah, have a fantastic birthday. How's the new suspension doing?
I recently got a pair of Forma low adventure bòots. Gotta say.. So much more better support and the comfort is amazing. Flexible enough to walk around in. It was nice getting rid of laces. Enjoyed the vid...thanks
I do both but it depends on where I am going. I just got back from New York camping trip with the car and enjoyed every moment but next week i be back on the bike
I love watching Scott complain about the old EFI systems and their complexity. I wonder what he'd think if he looked under the seat of a harley Pan america
Joe, if you're heading up to Washington State, lemme know, I have either a nice spare bedroom - or a nice back yard and shop. My door is always open for you. I'm in Yelm, Washington 98597.
I would not buy any boots from J&P........nothing against J&P but I don't trust many so called "motorcycle boots". I've always had good luck with quality hiking boots from REI.
I think viewership goes down with a car. I lost interest in 2wheelsbiglife once they started hauling their bikes Lots of channels living out of vehicles Goodluck
One of the big advantages of camping on a bike is you can get back in more secluded areas drawing less attention and having more privacy.
That's true

"Dirty Automotive Vagabond" - reserve the name now...just in case. 😂
🤣
"cage". That's the word you were looking for. You're welcome

I appreciate you giving a shout out to moto giant!! 👏🙏🙏🏍 I am also prioritizing moto boots more now...
Not a bad idea!

Yes, I was really sorry when I heard. It's not a bad idea! And thanks!!
Good looking camping spot, I live just a few miles away in Johnson City.
Very cool!
Indie Ridge boots. I wear mine everyday. They are awesome!
Cool 😎

I've done both , but prefer the motorcycle, just like the wind in my face and open space.

Hands are the best tool available!
Awesome video and awesome content can’t wait for the next video Thank’s Joe
Thanks bro!
Red wings old ones made in usa .. i get mine ebay ..
GO JOE! The white helmet makes you easier to see. Myself: (White helmet) once I tried a modular helmet that folds up, I'm never going back.
Absolutely! Those are very nice
Hey Joe love your videos. How about a small trailer behind the bike.
Thank man 👍 I might consider it at some point

Thank you my brother! ✌️
Simpson is a very good product for sure. Very well known in the racing business. Enjoy Cali!
Absolutely!
I saw you in Asheville NC with Scotty at the show . I went back later that day to talk to both of you but you had already left .
Cool man. Next time!
Hope you have or had a happy birthday, Joe. Also, happy Father's Day if that applies.

Joe, I bought a pair of REAX Fulton Waterproof Riding Shoes from revzilla a couple years ago. good price and decent protection
👍

I hear ya. They seem to be uncomfortable no matter what you do lol
Good mixing it up! Great video! God bless!
You too, thanks! 😎
Good video Joe, be careful with that English magic mushroom 🍄 sauce.😊
Haha will do
Check out hiking boots. They're pretty durable and you can get something stiff if you want.
Good helmelt choice I have one myself. Check out forma boots they have good protection plus you can still walk in them
I'll check em out!
I think you’ll like that white helmet.it’ll be a lot cooler for you and black seems to draw more heat.
👍

YOU REALLY SHOULD CONSIDER MAKING YOU AN INLINE TRAILER TO HAUL BEHIND YOUR BIKE!
It'd be nice
@@dirtymotorcyclevagabond or you need a bagger like ole scotty!
See you at Born Free FYI its hotter the Hell there ..
Ok! ☀️
✌😎✌
I’ve got Simpson helmet that I use I love it.
👍
Think you might be under estimating the advantage of NOT being caught in the rain...
That is nice
I do both but it depends on where I am going. I just got back from New York camping trip with the car and enjoyed every moment but next week i be back on the bike
I think drifters got it right.. a little bit of both worlds. Nothing is chiseled in stone.
Are yall gonna be at Maggie Valley Bike Rally at the end of this month?
I’m not planning on it
Another good one
Glad you enjoyed it
No offense joe I camp out in my truck alot fishing at nite.
Hey- I aint mad atcha
@@dirtymotorcyclevagabond I know when I'm not riding I'm fishing and camping in my truck alot more comfortable
Any good spots out in the Colorado Springs area that you know that’s good free camping?
I didn’t have much luck in Co Springs, but had a great camp in the pines outside of Monument. Mt Herman Road
I love watching Scott complain about the old EFI systems and their complexity.
I wonder what he'd think if he looked under the seat of a harley Pan america
😂
Where I'm from the bone an rim might mean water is toxic
😯
I think a Van would probably be better than a small SUV …..
Probably a loit more comfortable
WHAT! You know better.
😂
Always enjoy your videos. J&P has the worst customer service I personally stopped buying from them
Bet you were itching in that little suv.. Nice ride though.. Peace out.....
Yes it was a little claustrophobic
