You need to come out with your own hot sauce. DMV's Hot sauce! I'd buy a bottle. Great video as always. Hope to see you on the road some day. Take care and ride safe.
watching this video here in April 2024. I heard you mention about older motorcycles with fuel injection that have no miles on them giving problems and you also mention stabilizer problems. I ran into that for the first time ever November 2023. I bought a honda nt700 .. v-twin, that sort of resembles a smaller ST 1300 with the built on bags and fairing, shaft drive, They get a top hole right up from the European riders, which I give a lot of credit to , Because they are motorcyclists, not just motorcycle owners that ride on sunny days.. I have several videos of the sequence of events and breakdowns on my TH-cam channel. Including, a small fuel pump I used to suck the fuel out of the tank, run it through a gas filter that was see-through, and back into the tank, I ended up removing the in the gas tank, fuel pump/filter assembly and I can’t believe what was in there. The debris in that tank at the bottom, which I show in a couple of my videos with my NT 700 title, that stuff has the consistency of chalk. I called the owner and asked him if he ever put any additives in the fuel. He was a retired guy in his late 70s, he bought the bike new in 2010, always garage kept, but he hadn’t written it since 2015. or 2016.. at least his owners manual showed that that was the last time he changed. The oil was 2015 when the bike had 6000 miles on it. I bought it was 7400 miles on it and a brand new set of Michelin‘s that he probably had to put on to make it OK to sell.. anyway, I got stuck 40 miles from home when the bike would run but it would not take throttle at all. I ended up leaving the bike there and coming back for it later that night in the dark with my pick up truck and trailer. I got about a cup of that powder that was clumped around the intake of the fuel filter. And I have the see-through fuel filter evidence because I asked the owner, did you ever put anything in this gas? he said, I never put anything in that fuel, except for stabilizer. One other little thing that may be a help to you someday On this Honda, there was almost a worldwide recall by Honda to replace all of the plastic spark plug caps. They give a symptom of off idle hesitation, which I have been experiencing with this machine when I bought it, it’s in my first video back in November 2023, it was hesitating, just briefly when I would apply throttle, and then after I Left the bike apart over December January, and part of February until the weather cleared up here in western Pennsylvania. I put it back together and took it for its first ride, hoping it wouldn’t cut out on me again. it kept running, but I still have that hesitation. So I replaced the spark plug caps with original OEM, Honda/NGK spark, plug caps. I threw new plugs in while I was at it/NGK’s only.. and I’ve got it buttoned up, waiting for the rain to quit here in the first week of April. Once the machine gives me a lot of trouble, I never really trust it again… being an exmechanic at three different Honda dealerships when I was in my 20s, I’ve always worked on my own machines. But I never had a machine with fuel injection problems before. I have learned some thing you probably know, if your battery goes dead on a motorcycle with y’all injection, you can coast that thing down Mount Everest, and it will not start, unless it has a good battery to power, the fuel pump, the fuel injectors, the computer, etc. So I made up a set of jumper cables out of the old power cord from a washing machine that has heavier gauge wire that I carry on my machines with fuel injection… I sort of always knew was not good to buy a bike with very low miles. It was over 10 years old that has been sitting because of issues like this. I’ve done some resurrections of bikes that sad, but they had carburetors, like Kawasaki, 500 cc two stroke triples. I had to soak those carburetors in carburetor cleaner for over a week just to get the slides out.. anyway, you mentioning buying an older bike with fuel injection with low miles can be a problem and you also mentioned stabilizer problems.. And that’s exactly what I ran into. Love your videos check out my fuel pump that I made up for under $10 that I bought the new fuel pump on eBay for eight dollars free shipping. 12 V, and I put an in-line see-through fuel filter ahead of the pump so I can see what’s laying in the bottom of the tank when I vacuum it with the fuel pump.. it’s not easy to drain a fuel tank, especially on a machine that has the fuel tank down inside the frame like a Goldwing or a Honda pacific coast, which I’ve had both of those machines and 106 others over the decades.. when I removed the fuel pump assembly from the bottom of my NT,700 fuel tank, I was able to stick my camera inside to see all the crap that was dried inside the tank that was coming, loose little by little as I rode the bike for the first couple times, plugging the fuel filter. I was able to stick my whole hand in where the fuel pump attaches to the bottom of the tank, and I stuck my arm in there with a scotch bright Pad., and I had a shop vac hose, drawing out all that powder I was loosening with the scotch bright pad in through the gas, cap hole.. I have a video showing that process on my channel.. I hope all of my fuel injection problems are behind me now
Joe; great video!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I met Cory and his wife at Born Free Bike Show in Texas, Oct 2023. Both are very interesting and enjoyed meeting them both!!!!!!!!!!!! I have never heard of Forgotten Angels!! My bad. Spring weather is almost here. Really looking forward to some riding. Are you headed west anytime soon? God Bless safe ridin rubber down
Well Joe I missed you again at BW. I did get to talk with Amsoil Adam over at the track .Very nice folks he and his wife Katie are. Maybe I'll run into you at Biketober if you make it.
Great video. Catching up with old friends at a bike camp and seeing all the interesting bikes has to be good for the soul. I'm not sure about tent camping in the south, too many creepy crawlers for this ol boy.
That is about as big of a rally as I ever want to attend. I was cringing when you rode by the dump piles at your stealth spot - ya never picked up a nail in spots like that before?
You weren't kiddin' about that little camera! I now realize I cuss too f**king much when telling a story, lol! By the way, that old, blue FLT was a raffle bike from a few months back. The winner flew in from Colorado for the campout and rode it back home. He made it, but I'm not too sure how many more miles she had left in her after that. See you in a few and safe travels!
Thanks for sharing. Cool peeps & really cool scooters around there & decent looking weather. Btw.. check out "Secret Aardvark Hot Sauce" Maybe you've already had... It's gotta garlic & veg flavor with habenaro spice, good on almost everything. Imo ✌️👊
