I love the longing, the guilt, Stockholm syndrome as a result of the church this performance is giving. On par with my ultimate fave performance, The Blond Ambition version. It goes Blond Ambition, Celebration, then Met Gala for my rankings.

It would have been truly astonishing if she had chosen to bring two or three burning crosses onto the stage for her performance, thereby redirecting attention to one of the pivotal moments in pop-culture history and enlightening a new generation about past occurrences. However, she has instead opted for a focus on sex and shock value. This decision seems perplexing, as I fail to comprehend how she could overlook such an incredible opportunity.

Why would you ever assume that, in her almost 40 year career of music and touring and artistry, she would opt for the same exact imagery for this song as its original music video?

The video and imagery we're discussing played a significant role in shaping black culture and raising awareness about racism. In 1989, the Ku Klux Klan, a notorious racist organization, was still active and they would burn crosses on black people's properties. They did this to intimidate and force them to leave their homes. In some cases, they even lynched black individuals by hanging them from trees for no reason at all. That's why Madonna's "Like a Prayer" video and its imagery are so important. They captured a crucial moment in our culture and helped bring attention to these issues. If someone doesn't know about this significance, it's not their fault.

@@MrJ0NE5 that’s all well and good to know, but… again, she’s been performing this song for almost 40 years. The original video already exists. It STILL exists. People can still watch it. She already did that decades ago and it’s not being gatekept. So what else now? She’s always performed it with religious imagery and subtext, and she’s tweaked its staging many times for various reasons. Not every performance of this song needs to include themes she’s already explored with the same exact song. I’m also shocked you didn’t make the connection between the “focus on sex” and the thinly veiled sexual and queer culture that runs rampant in every form of Christian faith. Perhaps she found something else to highlight and express and doesn’t want to keep expressing the same exact thing she did 40 years ago? Lmao

@@MrJ0NE5 i understand that that’s important to you, but Madonna’s most iconic for constantly evolving. I just don’t know why you would expect her to ever remain stagnant in her artistry.

@@goodyougetastar During the course of this particular tour, be it the Constant Evolution Tour or the ReInvention Tour, one would anticipate a substantial reimagining of various aspects. Given that the artist herself described it as a retrospective of her career, it would be reasonable to expect that she would take advantage of numerous opportunities to impart knowledge to the past. Cleverly incorporating Easter eggs or providing food for thought could have been effective ways to achieve this. However, it is disappointing to note that none of these potential elements were incorporated into the tour, and the absence of such thoughtful additions is evident.
