This is a Keeper. I recall this song (& the Album) fondly. Used to fall asleep to Blind Faith, Traffic, and the rest of these Gems stacked up on my turntable.
From a time long ago when Rock as an art form was just emerging - this performance shows a softer deeper side of composition by some of the icons of the age. We are so lucky to have it captured for all time on video.

The meaning of the song is deeper than what appears on the surface. Everybody knows the secret, Everybody knows the score hints at something more than what the title of the song says.
Steve's organ doesn't have big chips missing out of it these days. In fact, the relection on his piano was so clear the last time I saw him, that when he was playing his stratocaster, it looked like a photgraph on top of the piano, from my seat.
If I had a Time Machine, I would surf the quantum waves and land at the great concerts and musical moments of the mid to late 60's thru early 80's. Hyde Park would be one of those places I would live for a while until I got back into my machine and returned to the quantum waves and the next show. Maybe Woodstock.
Unas de las mejores banda de la epoca prodigiosa junto a cream dejaron un legado de bjuena musica rock trascendiendo en el tiempo para recordarnos en una epoca de mal gusto que aun tenemos rock para rato
Clapton looks uncomfortable here, still play like a legend, Winwoods voice sounds the same in 2016, God bless him, Ginger is great throughout the whole concert if you watch him, Rick G seems too laid back
Truth be told he wasn't happy because he hadn't wanted Ginger Baker in the band -he kind of forced himself in. E.C. was trying to distance himself from Cream and here he's onstage with two-thirds of it !!!
@@JohnnyNation I agree. I think Clapton knew this band was doomed pretty much from the outset. He was right. I'm not sure they even finished their first and only tour.
I think the words here may be based on the story of Jonah in the Old Testament. jonah was righteous but refused the Lords order to preach to ninevah and fled by ship to tarshish. God raised storm, and jonah wanting to die told the sailors to cast him into the sea, and the sailors cast him into the sea. after 3 days in the belly of a great fish, Jonah asked god for forgiveness so God released him and sent himto Ninevah to preach as ordered before. but jonah was miserable still...until he found shade under a plant, but god killed the plant...
@@lastnamefirst4035 not at all. It was an object lesson for the prophet. Jonah wanted the ninevites to not repent and be spared, so God arranged the whole plant scenario to demonstrate where he should really bestow the compassion he felt for the plant.
Band filming was absolutely horrid then, but this isn’t the worst I’ve seen. At least the camera person didn’t do a barrel roll with the camera, filming upside down, or thrust the zoom in and out to the beat.
Most films of music back then were the equivalent of a long drum solo. Totally self indulgent and very frustrating to watch. Too many close-ups. Zero syncing of picture and sound. Rarely showing the whole band at once. Horrendous.
You have to understand the time and the context of these videos. This is well before slick, highly produced music videos. MTV didn't even exist yet. I say that as a musician that's actually in some MTV type videos of the 1980s.
I was there mate! Pretty shambolic tbh but I was at the front snapping away. My shots of Eric ( Rick to his friends) have stood the test of time, shame I wasn't a bit more savvy re copyright etc.

My first traffic was the live one with the restaurant scene

Tasteful Clapton, playing Steve Winwoods Telecaster , Priceless!!!!! Haha
♥️♥️♥️🙏😇🎉🎉🎉✌️✌️✌️🤟🤟
Steve also has his green strat. I had a black Tele custom 72
That’s Clapton’s Tele Deluxe with the neck that was either from, or headed to his “Brownie” Strat.
One of the best songs ever recorded.❤
I am proud to say I was there
Were you already buying their records?
Wonderful time. Dig it children 🤠🐴☕. Carry on!
This is pure fire 🔥 pure love ❤️🤙🤙🤙🤙🥲🥲♥️🙏😇

So love this song for so many moons....❤
This tune was written by Clapton.

Still in love with you.👍❤️
I remember this album in Hawaii when it first came out 💕🙏🤙

Thanks I really needed this!
This is insane ! Wen music was real and people were so relaxed and happy
One of my fav songs A&&& for quality of recording and video ty
never heard this live before - wow
Seems that they did nearly every song from that album there!
I had heard that Clapton was struggling with heroin addiction at the time.
Stratocaster neck on a Telecaster body in 1969. Who woulda thunk it?
I love Steve😘😘😘

Yeah, by this point in time Eric wanted out. Ginger was back on heroin again and being, well Ginger.
This my all time favorite song love GOD
Beautiful, just sad that we see so little of Ric Grech
aresome
We was there. Clapton expressionless and spaced out.
Is this during alcoholic or heroin stage of his life? Still smoking cigarettes. Adultery. Eric wrote this beautiful song. Did he mean it?
Agnostic here, who can definetely appreciate the qualties of this song and performance.
; )
💜
I never knew that Clapton was a pioneer of Christian rock music

Steve, BRAVO!
Steve Winwood is 21 years old…
He still is 🤓
Telly mastery
looks like stevie is the only one not being full of drugs
That is very likely a correct assessment.
Not long after this, Eric descended into his Heroin. Sad really but at least he came out of it😅
!
Jesus saves ..is the way.✝️✝️✝️✝️♥️☮️
I wonder if bob marley had anything to do with this masterpiece 😮? I know ! Just dreaming 😅
@Schnidler because hez like 5 years old :D
Wouldnt have made a difference then or now.
Ginger Baker eric Clapton. Steve windwood🥁🎸🎹
None of yall have said it, so: JACK BRUCE. dassall.

Worst film editing ever !

Just truly an outdoor concert!
