It’s curious to me that the comments seem to focus on Steve’s guitar playing, many as if it’s a surprise. The power and beauty of his voice just blows me away all these years later. He delivers these wonderful lyrics with just as much nuance and emotion as he did in 1967. Bravo!
His voice is what pulled me to him. He has a unique voice and you know it is him singing after 4 words he sings. His voice has not changed. His guitar playing is great but it was always the voice which got me. Love this song.
no bling, no flash, no trash, just shear delivery. no trivia, no dancers, no backing vocals, no razzmatazz ,shouting, screeching , no ego. just wonderful . you will be hard pushed to find better. THIS IS THE BENCH MARK. SOMETHING TO MAKE US ALL FEEL HAPPY. njoy.
Not only will you not find another musician who can bring it like that on the guitar as well as any other instrument on the stage, deliver those classic vocals which haven’t wandered from the original recording, but also do it flawlessly for the past 50 years. Pound for pound the greatest musician alive today.
hahahaha....is it you that adds the spike to to the replay bit? tying to figure out how the fuck he makes that....Pyyyeoow.....sound at the start and 3.55?
The year was 2004 and he just stepped perfectly into the opening lyric, like always, again. Steve Winwood is, despite all the obvious accolades, still criminally under-rated as a multi instrumentalist song writer.
My favorite Traffic song of all time! Stevie's singing and guitar are awesome and I don't know who that drummer is, but he absolutely killed it! Amazing performance!
This man just played all the hell out of that place. He has the voice of a prince, and looks of a model. I would not mind being stuck on a desert Island with him, his sounds and my coconuts at all.
This is such an awesome performance. He hasn't wavered one bit from the original, which was magical to say the least, and his guitar work is simply fantastic. Top of the top of all time!
Now theres a comment! Ive only just come across this version....the whole thing is utterly sublime (it feels ridiculous to make such an obvious statement..but....for now...and at this moment...it is my very favourite sound!

Great musicians come and go, but Steve never wavers from sheer brilliance, heart and soul music. The very definition of lifelong talent. As for Dear Mr Fantasy.....I need to listen to it every day. Thank God for TH-cam and Steve Winwood.
Not sure why, but whenever I hear the opening, I feel soul, deep joy, wonder. We're going on a journey, out of this gloom, to a good place, together. Thank you, Stevie ,for capturing the spirit and giving it to us.
if you think about it, it’s impossible to be or do better than this, this is as good as ‘it’ can possibly be, the vocal performance, the effortless ability with the guitar. Oh, and wooooow, that drumming. Who is it?
Love me some Winwood and Thanks for pointing out the drumming sometimes I have a tendency to focus on guitar and vocals and takes few listens to appreciate everything.
Steve Winwood is the great unsung hero of British rock 'n' rock. He was there when it all started back in the mid 60s, and in guitar terms deserves to be in the same room as Page, Clapton, Beck and Townshend, But he is also also wizard keyboardist, so that makes him even more of a rock 'n' rock all rounder than any of the aforementioned.
@@realitychampion8022 I heard Mr. Fantasy first and it holds the most good memories for me. That said you are not wrong cant find my way home is great in its own right
Saw Traffic open for the dead a handful of times and Winwood et al impressed me everytime. Seems like Winwood put his hands on every instrument and ripped them all.
Back in the days of the counterculture my friends and I listened to Traffic endlessly, their place in the pantheon of rock greats is undeniable. IMHO, the first Traffic album holds a place right next to Sgt. Peppers as the best albums of '67. RIP Chris Wood and Jim Capaldi.
as an old hippie from the days of "Traffic", I always appreciate any Steve Winwood performance.......being in my home state just makes it better !........
Definitely one of the greatest, if underappreciated musicians ever, in rock. Guitar, keyboards, and amazing, soulful vocals-thank you Steve, and for whoever put this on….

Am I right in thinking that this is the classic Traffic 3 piece line up: drums, guitar, keyboard playing bass pedals? Wow. Makes it even better. Cannot argue with below comments about quality of this performance at all except that Steve rarely failed to deliver anywhere. I've seen him a dozen times from the 60s to when he opened for Tom Petty (why did he open?) and he was consistently fantastic. Thanks!!
This version of this song blows any other version away. Plus, the sunset behind him as he played it? Oh my God, it's so perfect. I have this version in my playlist on my devices, but I never knew until now it was an Austin City Limits performance. So beautiful. Just sublime.

In 2014, Winwood helped Petty & the Heartbreaks promote “Hypnotic Eye”. Winwood performed “Can’t Find My Way Home” and “Gimme Some Lovin’ “ - while on stage with Petty and his band. The above is a quote referring to a Philly gig. I think Steve accompanied Tom & band on a 20 city tour during 2014. This was all I could find via quick search.
