    Thanks for another great video TFT! I’ve been using the 271qrx and loving it coming from IPS1080p. One thing Ive found is sometimes the monitor doesn’t recognize when HDR is on or off in Ps5 or windows. Other than it’s been great.

    I was hoping you'd clarify point number 3 "Fixed Panel Protect abnormal behavior while the "Power Button" option is set to standby." for the 321URX. On my first unit I remember never seeing the Panel Protect window as I wasn't using my monitor more than 4hrs daily. On my second unit which I instantly updated to FW11, when Panel Protect set to Auto, the screen wouldn't do a Pixel Refresh on standby. It would only do Pixel Refresh if the monitor was on, except if I would have clicked "Later" when the window would appear. But now when I've selected "16hr", the screen will do Pixel Refresh after 4hrs of consecutive use after the monitor is in Stand-by mode (more or less like an LG TV). I would personally have hoped that the monitor does a Pixel Refresh every time the monitor goes into Standby, regardless of how long it's been turned on.

    Thanks TFTCentral! Between 321urx and aw3225qf, which is more color accurate in hdr and sdr? Which has better gamma tracking? I keep hearing MSI oversaturated hdr and is too dark gamma in sdr? When I do lagom black level test for MSI, the squares 1-6 I can’t see in sdr but in hdr it looks washed out? On aw3225qf I can’t see square 1 but rest I can see in both hdr and sdr

    • @tftcentral
      @tftcentral  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      probably best to have a read through the review of the AW3225QF and the video of the MPG 321URX to pick out the parts that are relevant., although if you've got both then i guess you can decide which you prefer anyway?

    • @jeesonbaktha6315

      I know in ur review for the MSI there’s a delta of 4-5 in hdr but in other reviews like monitors unboxed I see delta e of 7-15. Idk which to trust. I also seen that aw targets srgb gamma whereas MSI targets 2.2?

    Will the inproved input lag positively impact games that lock your frame-rate at 60fps? I'm thinking about Fighting Games like Tekken 8 for example - where your refresh rate in Windows is still 360hz (271QRX) but the game is capped at 60fps to maintain and preserve frame data in a competitive environment. Thanks and yet another great video.

    • @tftcentral
      @tftcentral  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      The even lower 360Hz lag would apply in that situation anyway, so you're all good. If you set windows refresh rate to 60Hz to align with the game, then the new 60Hz lag number would apply

      no

    • @zznabil8109
      @zznabil8109 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Just stay at 360Hz while playing your game at 60fps.
      And no the input lag improvement is not that massive, it just might help in clutch situations.
      Human lag is still the biggest lag that you could improve more than your OLED monitor ever could.

    My biggest issue with the 32 4k 240hz. I need to make sure to set DSC to off before I turn it off, because my PC for some reason when it restarts doesn't see it as active. And turning it off and on can cause issues when it's switching. Other then that, this monitor is the best one Ive ever used before and Im quite happy I purchased it.
    What's kinda crazy is the non firmware one was only like $50 cheaper when I was buying this in Canada, so it made the non firmware one look like such a bad deal considering all the updates MSI has already put into these things LOL

    Great video, however I feel you missed an important metric in the input latency test for the MSI MAG 271QPX and 32 inch version. Specifically the input latency at 120Hz (Specifically over HDMi) This is important as we would like to know the difference between 240Hz PC and Console 120Hz input latency (as MANY there many games that do run at 120FPS on Xbox S/X and PlayStation 5)

    Great update, I want this monitor for Dual Use Photo Editing and Gaming.
    I need to know how I can white balance this monitor and test / calibrate for Adobe RGB color space. MSI claims 97% Adobe RGR color space and has a control in the Pro Section to set it. MSI Tech Support in US doesn’t seem to know anything about this and doesn’t seem to have any documentation on factory calibration or how to calibrate the unit. I suspect the 321URX 32” has hardware based calibration but it could be locked. I have Pro level calibrator. Flashed the FW to 11. After several attempts at addressing the problem I switched the DP to another port in the GPU and the problem seems to have resolved itself (I hope). I'm not sure of the technical challenges, but a lot of the time the screens are just not optimised for non-native refresh rates, and it's given very little focus. you can see from these FW updates what is possible when manufacturer do spend time trying to improve things though, so it must be possible to improve - to a point. These high refresh rate screens aren't really designed for low refresh rate devices a lot of the time either

      The 27” 360Hz QD-OLED panel is third generation already and has the same pixel layout and shape as the 32” 4K panel. The only difference is the pixel density is higher on the 32” panel. Text clarity is improved because of that but until there’s 27” 4K it’s unlikely we’ll see further changes

    Hello all! Proud first time OLED user here!
    I do not have a PC capable of updating the firmware on this monitor. Has the latest patch improved the black crush at all? The entire top row of boxes on lagom's test is completely crushed. I am very surprised there is no mention of Black Crush anywhere in RTINGs review. Very disappointed since the last update was back in May so I was hoping that it would at least come with the latest firmware since I just bought it yesterday from Bestbuy. Came with firmware 0.09 out of the box.
    How do I know which RGB range the HDMI from the monitor is outputting and how do I change it? Limited (16-235) or Full RGB (0-255) ? Since it's a monitor I am assuing it's 0-255 but I do not see any options in the monitor and my Xbox is set to "standard" RGB so I want to make sure they match.
    What setting should I use for HDR calibration in the Xbox HDR cailbration menu? RTINGS has this monitor rated for 1000 nits at 2% Peak and 467 nits at 10% Peak. Should I calibrate it for 1000 nits? I am trying to play Hogwarts Legacy and everything seems very dark! My 10+ year old Samsung VA monitor was much brighter!
    Why are the 50hz and 24hz video modes not available / supported with this monitor in the Xbox settings? Not a big deal but still curious.
    Where is the best place to get general help and info about this specific monitor? Is there a specific reddit thread , forum or discord available?

    • @tftcentral
      @tftcentral  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      which model do you have? You won't be able to update firmware without a PC or laptop i'm afraid to connect it to and install the software.
      The HDMI connection should auto-detect the input RGB range and set accordingly, but the default would almost certainly be full range 0 - 255.
      HDR mode brightness is an ongoing issue in the Peak 1000 mode, check out the article linked in the description for info and background. You may find the HDR 400 True Black mode brighter right now. just follow the steps in the Xbox calibration app for configuring brightness on the console, once you've selected whichever mode you want on the monitor.

      I will try HDR 400 True Black mode as you suggest. Can you say how many nits I should set in the Xbox HDR calibration menu with this monitor? If you press LB-RB-RT-LT buttons at the same time in the HDR calibration menu, you can see the exact values in Xbox. I have Peak Luminance set to 1000 nits and blacks set to 0. Can I leave it at 1000 nits or do those values need to be changed?

      @drakewilliams6069 the visual guidance on the screen with the white boxes is more important than reported numbers, I would suggest following that. If you end up using the TB400 mode instead it will end up being around 450 nits peak

      I still have black crush according to lagom's black level test in SDR but will still need to test how much of an issue that is if at all. I also turned on the refresh rate OSD on the monitor but it only displays the refresh rate I am connected with on the Xbox and not the actual framerate of the game I am currently playing so seems kind of useless. Came to you guys to grab your optimised settings - th-cam.com/video/wiFuqjXqWxw/w-d-xo.html
    2 things of note
    1 - MSI need to implement a toggle in the gaming intelligence settings so it doesn't autoload with windows (after you're set up the need to change things is greatly reduced)
    2 - if the panel protect pop up irks you like it did me (I died during a ranked game) change the panel protect from auto to 16hrs. This will avoid the pop but, when you shut your pc down once it's been asleep for 10 minutes if the monitor needed to do panel care (ie, it's been on for more than 4 hours since last care regardless of the auto/16hr setting) it will turn it self on, do the care sweep, then go back to sleep. This is ideal as it's non intrusive unless you game for 16hrs in a hit in which case there is something else you need to worry about.

    • @tftcentral
      @tftcentral  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That post is based on results from rtings.com, but their figures never seem to make sense. As far as I can tell, their lag figure includes half a frame but I no idea why. Very odd and it always causes confusion as their figures never align with anyone else as a result.
      The results from their review of the MPG321URX are actually 2.8ms at 240Hz, 5.1ms at 120Hz and 13.5ms at 60Hz
      and so at 60Hz that’s 8.33ms, plus the actual signal processing lag and delay of the monitor which would therefore be 5.17ms, which is very close then to our figure.
      At 240Hz that would be 2.08ms from the half of a single frame leaving 0.72ms of actual lag, again very close

      I have only owned the msi271qrx for one day so take what I say with a grain of salt. I have a window directly off to the side of the monitor and even during the day the Blacks are fine. Blacks will always appear better in a dim lighting environment but even during the day an OLED should have better blacks than a VA or IPS panel and have perfect viewing angles. QD OLED screens should only turn Magenta if you have light beaming directly onto the monitor.
      My understanding is that W OLED can get brighter but QD OLED have more vibrant colors. However even anything over 450 nits bright screen will cause you to squint from the brightness in a dim room so even QD OLEDs should be plenty bright enough!
      If you are planning to do a lot of reading, OLED monitors can have some color fringing. I find my IPS panel monitor easier to read text however I bought my OLED for gaming so this is not a problem for me. Hope this helps!
