I post new love life advice for you every weekend.

    Brand new video for you.
    Well hello there from isolation.
Guess what? I made a new video for you. And I’m really proud of it. And I think you’re going to love it.
It’s about how to be a more interesting and engaging person in any interaction with someone through 5 quick principles you can instantly apply.
And since most of us are having long-distance conversations with everyone right now, the ability to talk effectively has become utterly essential.
These techniques will show you how to take your talking to another level.
And I know they work because I live by them.
They are relevant whether you’re in the same room with someone, sending voice notes to a new guy, or connecting with a love interest over the phone as we all social distance. (They also apply to business, so you get two for one in today’s video.)
Can’t wait to see what you think.
P.S. If you stay to the end of the video (you better) you’ll get exclusive access to free training that breaks down exactly how I create a connection in the first 5 minutes of interacting with someone. If there’s only one thing you do this week to improve yourself, make sure it’s watching this training.

1:11 1) Voice your thoughts on a subject because it comes from YOUR perspective
2:21 2) Don't let your ego get in the way of being real
3:58 3) Share your passions, people will appreciate it
5:26 4) Your weaknesses are an asset: connect through vulnerability
6:41 5) Show interest/curiosity in things you don't know about

What an absolutely brilliant video. My interpretation of the big 5 💕
    1. It's not about the message, but the messenger
    2. Be vulnerable instead of being amazing
    3. Own your inner geek
    4. Share your weaknesses to connect with others
    5. Be curious about what you don't know
Read more and be kind x

Moral of the story: Don’t be an extra in your own life.
I’m loving this writer advice translating over to life advice. Another book you might enjoy along the lines of this video is “Redshirts” by John Scalzi. It’s about a Star Trek-esque style world where the lead characters are the “redshirts” on their star ship, and they’re trying to survive. It’s brilliant fun.

1:11 1. Never be afraid to write about a place that you think has been had every last word written about it.
It's not your place until you write about it.
2:22 2. There is nothing more interesting than the truth. 3:20 What I'm always looking for as an editor is the sentence that says something like, "I'll never forget the day when.."
4:00 3. Go with your interest.
No area of life is stupid to someone who takes it seriously.
No subject is too specialized or too quirky if you make an honest connection with it when you write about it.
5:27 4. Your weakness is your strengths.
6:42 5. Approach situations where you feed out of your depth with sincere curiosity.

"There is nothing more interesting than the truth" I completely agree that people try to find witty things to say but the truth itself is interesting. When you are brave and own your authenticity and vulnerability you are magnetic and people will be naturally drawn to you. When you are trying too hard, people can sense it!

I decided to write a book during a long narcissistic marriage because I wanted to be remembered for something. There are so many books on machine quilting so I wanted to put my own spin on it. I wrote about how to create quilting designs and came up with my own unique process and ended up doing three books at once, two being hundreds of designs. I didn’t think I could write and didn’t have a plan until 3/4 way through the first book. I had so much fun and learnt a lot about myself particularly trusting my instincts. My husband couldn’t name my books, what they’re about or how many I wrote but it became about giving me confidence in myself and not trying to prove to him that I wasn’t useless (his daily phrase to me).

Matthew, I don't know how I ran into one of your clips on my feed but I'm glad I did. I know most of your stuff is geared towards the ladies, but certainly this is all relevant to everyone. In my own journey of searching for connection and stronger relationships, it's so refreshing to hear the same kinds of ideas I've had as opposed to "pick up artist" tactics or "you do you and f--- everybody else" mindsets. I look forward to learning more.

I discovered you recently from a Lewis Howes interview. This is really the most genuine and natural way of being more interesting. A stark contrast against all the other videos which only give you tips and tricks which can make you superficially interesting. This video in my opinion, or how I see it. Is NOT about how to be more interesting to other people but rather how to have a more interesting life for yourself. This video is less about how to "show" and more of how to behave and self reflect and enjoy new experiences and conversations. Bravo!!

@Matthew Hussey your showing more & sharing more of yourself because you’ve grown & matured as a person, man & coach! That’s when you grab my interest as a relationship coach because now your real & not just like every other person around who thinks they have all the relationship answers. It’s when we grow that our true authentic self shows & that is the real answer. Let go of expectations you have of others & you place on yourself & live & breath the joys in life. Trust in you & the rest will follow because it’s when we know & trust in who you are as a person that there is no fear, games or pretence & that’s when the fear of impressions & expectations others place on you mean nothing & it’s enough just to be you. True happiness comes when you know, like & care about YOU. Nothings more intoxicating 🙃

I love your videos. You have such depth and a genuine passion and empathy for humanity and building a connection between people. You deviate so far away from trying to tell us how "to be the perfect girl" to attract "the perfect guy" and guide us towards living a content, fulfilling and authentic life, to appreciate all relationships and what we can learn from them, whether a lover, family or friend. It's so refreshing to see this rather than the "find a man to be happy" or the "you must find your own happiness before finding a man". Life is about the whole journey with all the people in it, you need connections to grow but also the confidence to trust in yourself. I am amazed by your empathy and how genuine you are, I've noticed from your recent videos how you've adapted to the current situation. You seemed to be truly struggling in one of the first videos after lockdown and then watching you over the past couple of weeks I can see how you've progressed and adjusted to the situation but you were always concerned with others and how they can cope through this. I love your advice and look forward to the new videos. Thank you for keeping spirits up and for caring.

I've appreciated your videos in the past, and even found the lessons useful in other relationship beyond romantic ones, but I LOVE the new angle you seem to be presenting lately. It seems to be less focused on baiting a guy with what may or may not be genuine qualities we possess, and more about intra(inter?)personal communication as a whole, and I personally think it's more applicable and helpful, for the whole person. And, ironically, a whole person attracts whole persons...and isn't that the goal? Lol. Thank you for your vulnerability, and insight and willingness to share these things. Much love. I wish you all the best. 😊

What a great video..it refreshens my mind to always look for indiviual value..it sucks when you take that step and voice your own thoughts and it gets ignored or not valued...Iol

I believe that people should always be honest and open. I also believe that people should share their story no matter if it is similar to others. I share my story and experiences that I have had being a person who has a learning disability both in real life and through my TH-cam channel. No one can tell or share my story like I can honestly. My story is just as important as other people's stories.

I think sharing my weaknesses helped me heal. Thank you, Mathew Hussey, for pointing this out. I came out of a 12 year long, financially, emotionally, verbally, abusive relationship. I was too scared to be alone that I settled with a guy that kept hurting me, despite a number of traumatic experiences I had with him. That fear of being alone was one of my weaknesses and it made me very miserable in the past. Now that I am out of that nightmare, I healed by sharing my weaknesses to my loved ones.. so that hopefully they learn from my experience and they become more mindful of those kinds of persons who try to manipulate our weaknesses and try to break us.

That is true. I wrote a book about narcissistic abuse. There are plenty out there, but I made it personal... even have the sentence "I will never forget the day..." in it and I have never read Zinsser's book. LOL Thanks for this video. This is wonderful. I have added his book to my wish list.

1- say your say cuz it's your own
2- say your truth cuz it's your reality
3- say what you find interesting cuz that what shaped you
4- feel and accept that you're vulnerable cuz that makes you human
5- feel the unknown, go and explore cuz that what makes life joyful
