Hen 70...a very good walk round; a stand-out from many that aren't....why?...you filmed St.Ives when most phone filmers film themselves and their yap...well done. So; here's a tale...at 7.29; the house with the railings, ( 2 Burrow Road.). In 1945, at at War's end, I came to St.Ives age 5 from evacuation. I drew up in a van and looked up to see my family waving from the railings. Apart from my mother that was the first time I'd seen them.
Off to the right is St Eia Street...that's where the giant end-of-War street party was held for all the Downlongers. I clearly remember every bit of that day! PS All the time I was in the van, I was terrified....on the gear handle black knob was a Nazi swastika!..I thought I'd been kidnapped!...you've guessed it; it was, of cause, the gear shift pattern, on all cars then. Congrats on a great vid which gets my Gold Medal for quite excellence.
What a great story. Thanks for sharing and thanks for your kind comments.
I’ve been coming to st ives since I was a child. Just about to drive down for a while again. Can’t wait.
With the new A30 section now open, the drive down should be a breeze! Enjoy your visit and thanks for watching and for your comment.
Truly beautifull.Lucky man.
Thank you, I'm really pleased that you enjoyed it.
Very enjoyable - and on such a beautiful morning! Thank you.
Yes it was a beautiful morning. Thanks for watching and for your comment.
What a lovely place ! Greatings from the Czech republic.
Hello Petra from the Czech Republic. Thank you for watching!
You are so lucky thanks for sharing 👍
Thanks. I'm really pleased that you liked it.
This has to be sthe best commute ever. Thank you💛
Thanks. Glad that you enjoyed it.
As a GPO engineer I spent many months in 79 and 80 working in st ives putting in new telephone lines and worked in most streets of the town. Often in the summer having ice cream on the harbour ftom harts parlour. The tallest pole in the town stood on the corner of the digey and was difficult to climb because of the number of wires feeding properties in the area.
Thanks for your comment. Was that pole at the Fore Street or Porthmeor end of the Digey?
What a lovely place st Ives is really enjoyed your video it’s got to be one of the best walks to work.
Thanks. I'm really pleased that you enjoyed it.
What magical place
It certainly is. Thanks for watching.
Hen, Phew, you really were racing through the Town and panning very fast. I often watch
the regular London video walkers and they walk at a much calmer relaxed pace and pan
slower.
Was in St Ives last May (2023). Weather was sensational. So I was thrilled that you passed
my Holiday booked cottage on your route...possibly to your worklplace (The Tate)???
Of course you would have got there much quicker cutting through The Digey.
But I was pleased to watch the video, my favourite place in the U.K.
Thanks for watching and for taking the time to comment. Sorry about the fast panning. Yes, I could have gone the direct route to work but it was such a nice morning, I couldn't resist a detour! A good guess about my workplace but not right I'm afraid. Enjoy your upcoming visit. Thanks.

Just beautiful 😍 #StIves #Cornwall
It was such a nice morning I felt I had to capture it. Thanks for your comments.
Another great video thank you. Don't really need the music as we just love hearing the sounds of the street life and especially the seagulls. They are great. We don't hear them make the same sounds here at the beach in NZ. Must be the Cornwall fishing villages. Thanks again.
Great feedback thank you. I always try to leave in the sounds of the sea and the seagulls when I can. But then I try to drown out the sound of angle grinders!
wow that's what you call a beautiful walk to work thank you for sharing x
Thanks. I am really pleased you enjoyed it.
That was a long walk, all the while I was trying to guess where work was!
The Island is my all time favourite place to walk or sit, best views up there. Will be back there very soon.
I kept you guessing! I admit that I took a few detours as the weather was so nice and the streets so quiet. Hope that you enjoy your upcoming visit.
Your very welcome 😊
😊
Been there.loved the place❤
Thank you for watching.
what a nice video, brought back tons of memories :-) Where do you work? lolz
Thanks for your comment. Glad it helped trigger happy memories.
I doubt very much you take that convoluted route every morning but a good way to see the cobbled lanes.
Thanks for your comment and yes, you are right. I added a caption to that effect on Teetotal Street! However, I was on my way to work, but with the weather being so good that morning, I just had to prolong the commute!
Ace.
Glad that you liked it. Thanks for watching.
Not sure it'd look as attractive on a dark, cold, wet January morning but beautiful in the summer
I tend to leave the camera at home when it is raining sideways! It's hard to beat St Ives when the sun is out though.
Can't you get a mountain bike? You'd get there in half the time surely?
Ha! If you play the video at 2x speed, you could achieve that effect! I will give the matter some serious thought:)
What you listen to that music whilst walking to work ? (must have a hangover).😵💫
No drinking on a work night!!!
Do you work at Aspect Holidays?
Hi, No I don't work at Aspects - interesting guess though!
Love St Ives! Beautiful Cornwall!
What is my massive bug bear for all of the UK is the shop frontages; the signage! The councils should pass a law (or whatever) to state the signage / frontage should fit the area. Those awful garish signs are ugly, tacky, trashy and just plain horrible! You can advertise you wares in a tasteful fashion … but fgs .. add to the area, blend in, don’t take away! Just awful! Same with new buildings.
I agree about the shop frontages. The best place that I saw this done was Hoi An in Vietnam where all the frontages had to be a certain style, as did the shop/restaurant sign. This was only in the world heritage old town but the effect was very impressive. Thanks for your comment.
Yeh was lovely ruined no community second home owners lived down there for years on and off xxx
Hello, yes it can be very quiet on some of those streets outside holiday season. Thanks for watching.
How do old people go on 😢
Some people would consider me to be old!
Winnie Wallace..... Cornwall's not the picturesque place it use d to be,in fact it's quite shoddy. Spoilt by double yellow lines on every road and road signs on most building. The beaches are dirty and strewn with litter and there's too many shops all selling tatty overpriced souvenirs.
Thanks for watching and for your comment. I don't agree with everything you have said but I do appreciate your comments.
