My son hurt his finger at work and had it wrapped up. He went to a Chinese Takeaway to get lunch and after giving his order for chips, the young woman behind the counter said “ Sore finga?”. My son went into the story of how he hurt his finger and the woman said “ No no, sore finga?”. This went on for some time before my son realised she was asking him if he wanted ‘salt and vinegar’! This was years ago and it still makes me laugh out loud!
I had the pleasure of meeting him and having a few drinks in the middle of know where in Australia , will treasure this moment. A genuinely nice man ,Rest easy

and the fact that he is in no hurry to get to the punchlines, the way he sets the scene in the chinese restaurant is genius, he takes his time at all this but still has plenty of fun with it

My fathers friends son found Brendan's wallet in Jacobs pub in saggart Dublin years ago, we were still using pounds at the time, and he didn't give the kid as much as a pound out of it
It was very funny then and it's very funny still. Brendan had was a fabulous actor and story teller, he had real talent. Just look at the audience and the joy they are experiencing. It is such a treasure to still have this. Thank you.

My Mam took me to see Brendan in The Ragg when I was 15, I had the great pleasure of taking my Mam to Brendan in The Source, Thurles when I was in my 30s, we met Brendan after & sometimes it's nice to meet you heroes
I remember my folks had an album of his at home when we lived abroad in the 80s, not only was he a very articulate storyteller (we'd be rolling around roaring laughing), he was not a bad singer to boot! He also did shows for the troops in the Leb at Xmas, apparently he only took his expenses. Lastly, his greatest incarnation was Fr. Fintan Stack, RIP Bottler!
