- Ultra Q (ウルトラQ Urutora Kyū) is a 1966 black & white (later colorized) sci-fi fantasy television series that kickstarted Eiji Tsuburaya's Ultra series, followed by Ultraman that same year. Without Ultra Q, we would not have Ultraman.
It's also maybe a little weird.

there's something surreal about seeing colorized ultra q. it's like when someone you've known all your life who wears glasses comes up to you one day with contact lenses instead

@@kaijugamer1009 I think that’s just from the way monotone films/shows are colorized. Shows that were already in color do look a lot more saturated and brighter though, I agree.

I watched bits of this series and it basically feels like “Twilight Zone, but with kaiju”.
I love how there are subtitles for moments when people are silent, obviously the translators could pick up on the psychic vibrations of the actors.
That last scene with that weird ape creature saying "I am Kamome"... I watched that full episode, and the scene actually made LESS sense IN context if you could believe it! o_O
What's the context?
The ape creature is called M1
“I am Kamome” means “I am a Seagull” in Japanese. It was a quote from Chekov’s play, and was very famous around then because Valentina Tereshkova, who was the first woman in space, used the phrase when addressing the earth.

0:00 After landing in a lake and sending a boat containing two girls up on a cliff, Garamon is spotted checking out his surroundings.
0:10 While riding on the magic turtle Gameron, the boy known as Taro soon discovers that the turtle has a built-in-speedometer. This episode is wacky but there is context for it.
0:17 A mean old bulldozer driver is flipped upside down after accidentally driving his bulldozer off a cliff. The kids remark on this because it's what they were trying to do. Soon after, Kanegon begins his launch off into the sky, where he'll soon turn back into a boy. But the clip cuts off before that happens.
0:25 While trying to chase down a guy who's hiding in a ridge on a cliff, the alien slug kaiju Namegon accidentally runs right over him and falls into the water. Due to it being a slug, it soon begins to dissolve from the large amounts of salt.
0:32 Goro, the giant monkey, accidentally gets sprayed in the face with milk(?) when he tries to open one of his favorite foods. Probably just a result of his increased size.
0:34 As it is remarked how Garamon could be an invader from a distant planet, the robot suddenly begins to freak out as his far-away electronic brain is attacked.

0:55 Kanegon, roaming the city freely, comes upon a suitcase full of money and begins to eat the coins. Because he's a Kanegon, and that's what they do.
0:58 The ice kaiju Peguila suddenly widens his eyes in shock as a plane full of a special moss that weakens him crashes full on into his face, killing the pilot but saving the city that Peguila was destroying.

While there, he begins to suddenly speak a sentence for some reason, maybe due to him learning to talk due to everyone talking at him for the entire episode, and scratches his head soon after because it's another thing he learned.

It's the precursor to Ultraman, and the premise is basically the twilight zone, but with kaiju. I suggest you give it a shot.
