Safety Net, POV and Just Like Magic were the best.

The problem with Positions was that the era was non-existent. During Sweetener era she was active doing performances, interviews and was also casually seen be out in the city or something. Thank U Next had a whole tour to support it. + all the drama that was happening at the time. I don't think Positions needed some big pop culture moment like these 2 if Ariana kept the era alive and tried to keep people fed. Covid was really hard time to promote albums but there were people like Dua Lipa who kept going and kept public interested. Ariana just released 3 singles, released 1 remix and 6 Vevo performances. POV's music video even got scrapped. And she abandoned the album. She spend her time with her family (which she deserved) the first half year of the album and stayed very quiet and then came back with things like REM Beauty and The Voice instead of trying to restart the era or try to do something for the album. And then she went for Wicked and now it's been 2 years since her last release. People forgot about Positions because there is literally nothing to remember from the era because the era was non-existent. I think it was Positions' destiny to be little underrated compare to Sweetener and Thank U Next but there could've been things done to make it more memorable because the music was amazing.

Positions was good but it gave pandemic lockdown album , This is what i made while i was in the house , here. I don't think it was meant to shake up the table. Her return is something to look forward to.
Just Like Magic, Nasty, My Hair , POV , West side, Obvious , Motive, Off the table and Worst Behavior JAMS !

Positions didn't have the big pop culture moments of it's predecessors and when viewed as whole was much more simplistic and quiet than her previous two bodies of work.
It didn't help she released two singles and let the album fade from view and there was no accompanying tour to keep the era going, it was released and then gone. Plus it had a more muted reception from the public and the critics, meaning it was always going to land in the middle of er discograpy.
I see it as the final chapter in a trilogy Sweetener is the hope for better, Thank U Next the grief and all that comes with it and Positions is her finding peace and calm. Ultimately I see whatever se does next being a departure in the way Sweetener was from her first three albums, but Positions will be a fan favourite quietly remembered.

Because it's pretty forgettable. She sounds great as usual but the product was her blandest... Sounds like she's done it already js

Because its pretty forgettable. The songs are generic and they seem like they were cut from her previous two albums

Like no tea no shade, I just don’t think it’s a good album. There’s very few like good good songs on there imo and the singles weren’t that good.

IMO she released to many albums back to back. So I feel people were having Ariana fatigue. On top of that Positions is kind of a bland and boring album, especially if you compare it too her previous two albums. The whole era just seemed like an after thought and rushed(strike while the iron is hot) sort of thing, and the tracks on the album felt like they were left overs from Sweetener and Thank you next

I think it didn't help that it 1) didn't feel very different at all sonically from thank u, next, which kinda made it feel like TUN pt. II, and 2) it just wasn't as exciting as far as singles go compared to the previous two albums' singles (God is a Woman, No Tears Left to Cry, thank u, next, 7 Rings, BUWYGIB, etc).
I think, regardless of what we as fans say and feel, it really did feel way too soon to throw out another album so soon. It really just felt like a bunch of tracks that could have been the B-side of TUN. 🤷 It wasn't bad at ALL, but it also didn't feel like it was as thoughtful or intentional. Just kinda like, "Oh, here- I have these songs. Here you go! ❤" lol

Position is an alright album. Unlike her previous album, there are very memorable things about her previous albums such as the vibe, the excitement, and the aesthetic. Positions lacks those qualities for me and most of the songs are very bland, which is so unlike Ariana because she releases pretty fucking rad songs. Despite how boring positions was as a whole, there were like two songs that I could vibe with.

Ill just have to say it because i think her fans are too afraid to admit it. RnB Ariana is just not a sound she can convincingly sell. Not saying white people cant but it pales in comparison to many black artists that dabbles in the genre. I honestly find Ariana to be at her best when shes more Pop than RnB. I also dont believe her when shes selling sex. I dont believe 34 + 35. Which leads me into believing that Ariana always seems to be having an identity crisis with her aesthetic musically and with herself.
She hates her pop shit, she doesnt sing rnb all that well, and i really dont feel the lyrics that shes singing ever. Thats just imo. But shes a great vocalist but i dont hear the emotion behind the lyrics.
Ill stand behind my opinion. She has good songs but just doesn't connect emotionally to the music nor does her personality shine in most if not the majority of her music.

i love Positions so much both the album and the single. After "My Everything" Positions was probably the Ari album I could listen to from start to finish. ❤
