Never Be the Same Again by Melanie C featuring the late Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes. Not that the previous two singles from Melanie's debut solo album Northern Star were flops per se (both singles reached No. 4 in the UK) but since they didn't reach No. 1, Melanie's label Virgin was considering ending the promotional campaign for Northern Star but (after some drama of its own) Never Be the Same Again was picked as the third single and it debuted at No. 1 in the UK and also reached No. 1 in six other countries. Sweet Escape by Gwen Stefani has to be an all-time great example. She followed one of the most beloved and successful pop albums of the 2000's with Wind It Up, an electro-pop/alternative-rap track with a fucking Lonely Goatherd sample from Sound of Music and excess moaning and vocal processing that made T-Pain sound like Andrea Bocelli by comparison. I mean HISS debuted at no. 1 and EVERYBODY was talking about it
@@alexxquivelYes but HISS was heaaaaavily hyped because of the beef with Nicki Minaj i mean let’s be real the song is not strong or anything special except its a ‘good’ diss track. It is not a memorable #1 song like some of the #1’s that artists like Rihanna or Mariah have. The album is not talked about enough, it’s mid. But Megan is a good rapper! Just not a memorable album maker
Side to side saved dangerous woman imo. Even tho i love DW and into you more they only peaked 9 and 13. Side to side peaked at number 4.
Hi, goood video! But you are wrong about sweet melody! It was us fans that we decided to give Jesy her last number 1 as a farewell. After that LM charted very poorly
“My happy ending” by Avril. I don’t think it was the biggest chart hit, but it’s kinda known as a signature Avril song and I still hear it on the radio in Canada today
As in Avril Lavigne!!
Great subject for a video🙂
Look At Me Now saved Chris Brown’s F.A.M.E era, and made it an undeniable classic!
Dunues too or however you spell it 😂
Thong Song by Sisqo!
Saved what exactly? Sisqo's entire first album roll out was perfect! Thong song wasn't even the biggest song on that album it was a ballad Incomplete
toxic saved britney's in the zone era
shakira Hips don't lies saved her Oral Fixation vol.2 era
Worth It - Reflection Fifth Harmony
On my mama- Jaguar 2 Victoria Monet
Toxic - In the Zone
Jesy leaving the group wouldnt really affect Little Mix too much simply cuz shes not the "Camila Cabello" of their group
I think side to side by Ariana grande is a single that “saved” the dangerous woman era because in comparison to my everything, dangerous woman was missing the smash hit single.
In what world was dangerous woman missing a smash hit lol that was one of her most instantly popular albums. She had a streak of those
@@vanillac0keh3ad I’m not saying it’s a bad album, but subjectively the era was missing a smash hit, the lead single came and went, into you didn’t even crack the top 10 ( a crime). Side to side was the smash hit of the album, it was everywhere.
@@vanillac0keh3ad before the release of side to side as a single, dangerous woman was missing its smash hit to go with album rollout , my everything had problem, break free, bang bang
Into You? Dangerous Woman? These were all smash hit singles
@@cgomez5455 idc if you think its a good album or not thats not really the point. Your perspective is incorrect, period. Into you reaching the top 10 is irrelevant considering it was an inescapable and popular song regardless. I think some pop fans look too much at statistics and forget about the cultural zeitgeist of the moment. Britney spears rarely had top 5 singles but her songs were inescapable and impactful. No one would ever say dangerous woman didnt have a smash single before the worst single of the bunch was released lol
I lived thru the bday era. And a while I fuckin hate her now as a grown man. Back then I loved her dearly. And what you said Abiut her is not true. You found a random website to site to say what said. The bday era was iconic so iconic in fact it warranted a special edition rerelease w the Shakira vid as the promo for that.
Mirrors Justin Timberlake
Madonna - Die Another Day
Music was way more successful
@@JiafeiProducts6969 Die Another Day was on the album ''American Life''. Music, was from the album ''Music''. Not the same era!
I would say that “we can’t be friends” definitely saved eternal sunshine after the american general public didn’t vibe with “yes, and?”
People liked it, its just gen z that didnt vibe with yes and not because it wasnt good but because its a dance/pop song. Unless youre referencing hyperpop, gen z assumes all dance/pop music is generic and soulless. I find gen z kind of regressive in that way. They dont get how pop music can make you feel just by how it sounds not by the artists lyrics telling you what to feel. I blame the popularity of taylor and lana for that precedent being set. The rest of arianas album is a lot more wordy and in line with said precedent
@@vanillac0keh3ad What are you talking about? Levitating, I'm Good (Blue), Blinding Lights, Stay, Cupid, that Shakira/Bizarrap collab, Dance the Night, Break My Soul, and so many other dance-pop songs were big hits in the 2020's. Hell, Ariana herself has had plenty of dance-pop hits (Break Free, Love Me Harder, Into You, etc.) that her fans still eat tf up. We Can't Be Friends isn't even that far off from that sound. Yes And just isn't really anything to write home about
We Belong Together saved the Emancipation of Mimi album
It’s like that did well and she also had Shake it Off which was doing extremely well too. We Belong together was just the peak but she was already getting crazy buzz for the album. The album didn’t need saving.
Shake it off did pretty good too
She had two other hit songs. Emancipation of mimi was one of her albums
@@Mommyyriah no shit
@@JiafeiProducts6969 i was replying to the clueless taylor swift fan mr obvious
Deja Vu MV was controversial???!!! Smhhh
Saying that lover (the song) was the song that saved the lover era is crazy when it was the worse performing than the first 2 singles and then not saying that cruel summer saved it which was the song that actually did
A- Wait your turn by Rihanna was never a single, it only charted (kinda) due to digital downloads but was never officially released.
B- Little mix most certainly did NOT have another hit after sweet melody haha there other singles sold like 40,000 copies or something ridiculous lol
The only hit they got after becoming a trio was Heartbreak Anthem, which is understandable as Confetti was the group’s last studio album 😭😭😭😭
Heartbreak Anthem is a hit
Mariah carey we belong together
Where is Britney
This guy can just talk and talk and talk though like come on speed it up
Hard got higher than Russian Roulette ?!?
I’m surprised that Ariana Grande is not on here
We cant be friends cuz eternal sunshine is literally in trenches 😭
Nobody’s checking for little miss
Isa lang tono magsalita kaumay
Maganda pampatulog
we can't be friends for eternal sunshine !!
eternal sunshine was NEVER in trouble
I still hate You Need To Calm Down, so damn cheesy
You forgot Katy Perry - Harleys In Hawaii and Miley Cyrus - Malibu
Malibu was the first single of the era, so there was nothing to "save" lol
@@nooodisaster Despacito and Shape of You were big hits at that time. I passed on Miley's Younger Now album,Kendrick's Damn album did not receive as much attention as Despacito even though it won the Pulitzer.
cruel summer definitely saved lover
love on the brain help feed anti after everyone was tired or work
love sex magic saved fantasy ride
streets fed hot pink for doja as well as need to know for planet her
love on top put "4" on top for beyonce as well as cuff it kept renaissance thriving with no videos
the night is still young for the pinkprint and super bass for pink friday
justin bieber -ghost for justice album
snooze for sza
under the influence for breezy indigo album
katy perry dark horse for prism outshined roar i feel
aaliyah - rock the boat // the one i gave my heart to
mimi - we belong together/ shake it off / my all
A lot of these artists are ridiculously overrated and they’re the reason why pop music SUCKS
Dua Lipa, Sabrina Carpenter, Madison Beer, and Tate McRae saved pop music
Taylor swifts new music is boring … 👎🏽
Lover was by no means successful.😂😂
Both the song and album are extremely successful lmao
Lover was moderately successful at the time but both the single and album have been very successful from 2023 to now
Actually Woman's World by Katy Perry ❤
That song is killing this era tbh
