Efforts being the operative word here. Something I have noticed too, the effort she makes to make us undesrtand things is very admirable. As someone who has never been to a theatre - this is very helpful.
I love her. Her accent, her voice, her light English sense of humour I detect here and there. In some odd way, Gill doesn't even seem all that foreign to me, although her accent at first did: I didn't know what or where it was from. I guess I always had the idea English people spoke what I had learnt at school which was RP. I used to have an English penfriend back in the days when people sent letters to each other. I also had American penpals. They were so simple, straightforward and boring, whereas with my English West Midlands penpal I could actually have fun and give and take little tender "insults". A bit of irony or sarcasm here and there, things like that. She taught me a great deal and I am for ever grateful. (I'm Finnish, a Finn from Finland.)

Gill you have been an amazing English language teacher who is always there for what i like the most while watching your videos is you're apparently courteous and lenient in particular with your indispensable methodology which can never be underestimated in terms of high appreciated methodology my students wish to have a conversation with you online if it's possible thanks anyway!
I am learning more from your videos you are such a graceful polite and intelligent teacher i like your way of teaching and geting much mor. love you Madam
Dear Gill-sensei, thank you for your theatre idiom lesson. It is always with great joy that I come to your youtube videos. I appreciate the quotation from Shakespeare. I sometimes wonder why I love pessimistic lines like this one so much. Come to think of it, many songs, lyrics, poems, novels etc. are both pessimistic and attractive. " Life is but a walking shadow, a poor player , that struts and frets his hour upon the stage, and is heard no more."
( what I understood) Baby: everyone happy with your making entrance and you are the loved one, then the schoolboy: learns life and learns to love, then become lover, who fall in love his village, country, family, friends (maybe a special one as well), now he is a soldier and he can fight for his loved ones and for loved country, but the knowledge and experience of life which he lived , makes him judge the life, people, mistakes, mis understandings,... sometimes life is hard (maybe harder than you imagine) makes him pantoloon, as teenagers think it (they think that way because they have little knowledge and experience about life), actually old ages are very fruitful as they have the knowledge of life which experienced one by one in life laboratory.
Unusual and smart way to teach and learn british idioms, i appreciated it so much ! I'm going to retire and i want to refresh my english, so i'm looking for new ways of doing it. I was thinging about some chat, do you know any ? Thamks Ms Gill, very good teacher!
TEACHER What's the most expensive thing in the world? STUDENT The most expensive thing in the world is the missed opportunity If we're waiting in the wings and when the moment is there and we don't grab it we gonna miss the boat
Hi MS GILL, I LOVE YOUR LESSON VERY MUCH, AND ALSO LIKE YOU. Can you correct me the following I wrote with the phrase you taught me? I don’t know Y I am the guy who always being waiting in the wings in the company. I am very angry about that, so sometimes I made an exit when leaving office and to upstage my boss, I always beat him in tennis make him hard to follow me, I even want him to break a leg when playing with me, I do not wish him luck for break him a leg! Everything went bad, I was told by a good friend, he said the show must go on, if you want changes you should change first. I prepare a lot and got the show on the road. I worked hard and did my best to help others and finally stole the show and to be in the limelight. My boss was very happy about what I have done and praised me. I told him not to marking a song and dance about it, I merely did what I have to do. Quickly I got a promotion and my big boss said that’s wouldn’t be the curtain on me.
