Boyz in the hood one of my fav movies all time because it doesn’t glorify the gangsta stuff like all the other gangster movies.. it gives u the real, the pain, the suffering, losing ppl & shows what’s gonna happen to you if you keep going down a certain path which is either dead or in jail.
I agree bro. It shows you how two young men who are trying to be good people can still end up as vicitims of their environment. Ricki and Tre weren't street dudes, yet Ricki got gunned down for standing up for himself, and Tre had guns pulled on him police, rivals, and had to witness his best friend get gunned down in front of him. Then he wrestled with the idea of getting revenge, but ultimately his conscienceand his father's teachings won and he got out the car befpre he did something that he would regret. It also shows that there's nothing wrong with not wanting to take revenge. That;s how Christians are supposed to be. Self-defense is one thing, but no retaliation.
That's Laurence Fishburne and Angela Bassett playing young Tre's parents. Young Tre is played by Desi Arnaz Hines, who also played young Vernest "Quick" Brown (Eddie Murphy's character) in Harlem Nights.
*I didn't understand what LA was like until I moved out there. It's still just as bad even after gentrification. Upon coming back to NY I started to strongly dislike the City and then I thought of a quote Ice Cube said, "every hoods the same." What Furious said in the beginning of the movie today still applies. Great reaction!*
I dont know if this was mentioned but the guy in the red hat that killed Ricky in this movie actually was the same in real life. He actually killed someone and went to prison where he got killed by his cellmate. He was an example of life imitating art
Exactly. He was from Baldwin Hills I think which is a middleclass to affluent black community in LA. Yet the role seems to have influenced him to where he actually and tragically decided to become a gang member and threw away his life for no reason.
Tre mommy played in Kindergarten cop right before this movie. Fun fact: the parking lot that Dough boy got revenge in is the same parking lot that part of Back to the future was filmed in.
This movie, "Menace To Society", "South Central" and then "Don't Be A Menace To South Central While Drinking YourJuice in the Hood" would be some great reactions.
Fun fact: The dead body they saw as children that was missing a shoe was the guy that broke in the house! Treys daddy hit him and he ran around the corner and died
No it wasn't. That body was of a guy who had been shot from the front including a headshot. Trey's daddy was shooting a person running away, and most likely would have hit him in the back had he got him. And there's no chance there would have been an exit wound or exit wounds from the front with that caliber of handgun, and even if there had been, he wouldn't have made it that far in that case, and likely would have just dropped in front of their frontyard. The body they found was of someone who had been executed gangbanger-style, probably on his knees and from in front.
Great reaction Journey! Love your insight. This movie came out when I was in highschool and it showed a glimpse of real life struggles in the black community. A lot of unspoken social injustices and realities exposed for America to see on the big screen. It was huge. Ricky getting killed hit people hard. Girls were in school crying about "Why they shoot Ricky?!" Confused everyone was like " What!!...who's Ricky?...You know....from.... Boyz-N-the-Hood". My face....😑 lol. Classic movie!
“You look more like ya daddy…” Ewwww 😵💫 😅😂🤣 PLEASE do more movie reactions. One classic done, more to go. Love to see & hear that ya channel is growing. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
This is dope that posting/reacting to movies on here. Definitely would love to see you do more. But do you think you'll post the pac movie reacts you watched?
I can't believe that all my years watching this movie, I ain't never noticed that @ 8:42 when Tre picked the baby up out the street, you can see a couple in the background just chatting in front of the car 😯😔😒. Realistic because it is heartless ass people in the world.
This Movie and Menace 2 Society, show you how crazy LA South Central was in the 80s n 90s that shit was crazy everybody was gangbangin Bloods,Crips,Latino Gangs, etc and they killing each other over some colors crazy decades
In the 70's- mid 90's times were very rough in places like Crenshaw, Compton or Watts. Now in 2023 I hope life has very much improved for people in those neighborhoods. Increase the peace...
This Is 🔥 my favorite childhood movie love the video Marie stay motivated dream big 1 mill on the way the guy that's playing a cop said that the reason why he don't like black people was because gang members killed his son this movie teaches you life lessons the guy that played Dookie died he got killed at a drag race by some Asian gang members
Oh yeah definitely a great movie and powerful message it explains why some young black men do what they do like Doughboy for example he turns out the way he did do to no father and lack of love from his mother which is why he prefer women as bitches and you remember at young Tres school that little boy says I ain't from Africa I'm from Crenshaw Mafia,Crenshaw Mafia is a Blood gang, young black men need their fathers and male mentors someone who cares for them show them the right way or they will turn to the streets for it
You did a great job on this one! Being in crenshaw is horrible, watts isnt any better, & compton has its sights but its still just as bad as the rest! I used to live in between all three Very well done journey marie, proud of you for doing this one beautiful❤️🍻💯
You are very authentic in this reaction, would be very happy if you keep this up and react to movies every week from now on. Btw, if suggestions are ok, then I would like to recommend at this point "New Jack City" (1991) with Wesley Snipes in one of his best roles and a then still very young Ice-T.
I read about why the black cop is like that somewhere before. It mentioned he was being an honest cop at first, then he had a tragedy happen to him when he lost his son in a drive-by by some black gangsters and that's where his contempt started. Eventually, that hatred inside him transcended into him hating more than black gangsters, it led to him hating black folks overall.
The scene where they shoot the uzi in the air was unscripted and the actors were to told to run if they heard gunshots bc of the environment they were in and they were legit scared bc it wasn't apart of they knowledge that the shots were going to happen
Finally, a very satisfiable reaction to one of my all-time favorite films. Thank you for giving me hope. The other first-time reactors made me almost give up. A well-deserved like.
This movie really emasculated the black father. The mother literally couldn’t raise a boy into a man and she straight up dropped her son off to his father because she couldn’t be bothered while chasing her CAREER. She then goes and berates the black father for doing exactly what she wanted him to do. She goes off on a tangent saying Fury isn’t special because he’s doing his job while also saying more men should do what he does. That’s the definition of special. Meanwhile she says mothers have been mothers since the beginning of time so the father shouldn’t feel special meanwhile she wasn’t raising her son and instead chased her career. If the roles were switched we’d shit all over the man for that but in this new weird ass delusional generation that’s ok 🤦🏾♂️. This move is the epitome of why FATHERS are essential while mothers aren’t.
The reason why Blacks and Hispanics suffer like this in the ghetto and went into slavery and are still in captivity is because we broke God's laws and commandments. We are the Israelites the Bible speaks of. We are the people of the Bible (the Israelites). We broke God's laws and his covenant and we still break them today and he is punishing us for our disobedience. We as Israelites must repent, keep God's commandments and have faith in Christ (the Black Messiah)!!!
1. Unfortunate Fact~The dude that shot and killed Ricky was an actor named Lloyd Avery. He was killed in prison by his cell mate... 2. Unfortunate Fact~Ricky's friend with the pacifier Dookie. The actor was killed by a gang...
Hope you guys enjoy my first movie reaction😊
I saw your reaction to juice. 😊. Would be your second for me.
The ricky shooting even more unjustified, ferris is the one that bumped into him smh
You should react to Joyner Lucas he got some great music
@ODOGG where is the Juice reaction?
Lol

This movie had so many gems . Hip Hop raised some many kids in the 80’ and 90’s with awareness . Dope reaction .
That's Laurence Fishburne and Angela Bassett playing young Tre's parents. Young Tre is played by Desi Arnaz Hines, who also played young Vernest "Quick" Brown (Eddie Murphy's character) in Harlem Nights.
Doughboy disrespect for women came from his contempt for his mother.

He became a Christian and they paired him with a devil worshipper who was 2 or 3 x his size. That's how he got killed in prison.
Exactly. He was from Baldwin Hills I think which is a middleclass to affluent black community in LA. Yet the role seems to have influenced him to where he actually and tragically decided to become a gang member and threw away his life for no reason.

I love old school movies from back in the day.
My favorite movie of all time. I've probably seen it a 100 times, and I hope Rickey gets away every time (the true definition of insanity lol)
Menace 2 Society next marie.
@magic313 Thomas 🤐🤫
Yup, it's more realistic but not as well written.
It is well written you hater

@Cbricklyne The director said it was! Be quiet! That's why Trey daddy had the missing converse in his hand from the dead body genius
The soundtrack for the whole movie just made the movie 100x better imo

@@journeymariereacts Damn 😭. Well if you happen to find them, please don't hesitate to post them 🙏🏿
Ricky passed his test with flying colors. He actually scored 10 points higher than he needed to pass.
What about the 1990 movie house party with Robin Harris r.i.p robin Harris 🕊️🕊️🕊️.
You gotta watch House Party. The first one will do. But it’s def a classic if you’re in the mood for some comedy. And Class Act is another one. 😬😬😬

She was disappointed in doughboy it's not that she didn't love him. Of course she wouldn't want him to die.
