This IS a goddamn great country song. This is as raw as good alternate country is. Makes me think of Uncle Tupelo, country-tinged Pavement, with a hint of Sleater-Kinney. This is just wonderful and the song of 2023 for me.
@@yanngiraudit's honestly insane to NOT call it a country song. they're so obviously alt-country and country inspired and they wear that flag proudly. not sure what that other dude is on about lmao
I just got into Wednesday a couple of days ago. And each song is so different but really good. That girl is one hell of a songwriter and she’s gonna go far! The definition of raw talent
Got this as an ad and I was sold the second I saw that Nickelodeon radio. Holy shit, core memory unlocked there. If I could have one of those things with Bluetooth built-in, my inner child would be fully satisfied.
@@elfpower8300 This one isn't very shoegaze-y but that comes across in some of the rest of the album and especially their earlier album Twin Plagues. Chosen to Deserve is mostly just straight-up indie rock/country.
A guy from MJ Lenderman reommended that I have a listen to this band called (Wednesday) which I'm doing at this moment on a wet Saturday night in Melbourne,I really liked the song (Billboard)which had a video,as well but so far I'm really impressed and I'd like to thank him for recommending the band to me otherwise I would never have heard them at all. Found this a few days ago and I've been obsessed ever since. Reminds me of days in the 90s-00s when I would go camping with my family and my dad would listen to dad rock lol Hope this makes it to the radio, music needs this.
@@davidstrickler5362 I’ve never actually thought about it before, but I think it’s my favorite musical instrument. There’s something very emotionally affecting about that sound.
Your surrender is probably different than mine. You may be in the midst of soul-wrenching heartbreak or the confusion of unravelling or the bliss of self-discovery. You may be in a fog of doubt or wave of gratitude or crisis of faith… Wherever you are, honey, let this message of surrender be a reminder to simply be there. Keep showing up, keep trusting, keep being willing.
It's real, beautiful, relatable, honest in simplicity, and in teary ways. so exited to see you guys live in Porto in June (alongside Unwound ---> my oh my) and for new album to drop
Yeah it’s all good, guitar is bad-ass, and beat is right on time. And that steel guitar! But girl, your vocals are what I hear. So sweet, so Tennessee… or maybe Texas! Come to Fort Worth, pleeeease!
I wasn’t excepting to like this but I like all different kinds of genres and this is really good heard something like this before don’t know what kind of genre it is but it’s good to have a breath of fresh air wouldn’t mind listening to some more of this type of music in the future glad I stumbled upon this
What a fanrastic song! It reminds me of Steve Earle & the Dukes, I ain't satisfied, but with a complete own twist. I will see the group end of May in Paradiso Amsterdam, Holland. Lookin'' forward to it..
There is a station in Dallas 91.7 that plays yall.....I heard Quarry like 6 times before I looked up your tour dates.......I don't see anything in TEXAS. I thought you would at least hit Austin.....Austin is getting really big with Rogan making it the comedy capital of the world....but before that has a Hugh music scene. I love your sound, keep it please.....don't get song writers, don't buy songs from California because you don't need it. Thanks for making good music.
Real music, real people, real American tune....great stuff!!
oh i thought it was fake music and fake people thanks for explaining.
@@dreamer5687 you are an asshole
the pedal steel is absolutely masterful my god
A GREAT country song. I find it inspiring that this North Carolina band has now made 5 albums and at least one EP in just over 4 years.
Not to mention MJ releasing a new album in the last month or so - so good
This ain't no damn country song 😂

It's ridiculous how in love with this song I am
What an adorable little kid she was. And now still hanging out with Mom and Dad and sis...aww.
Such a charming and wholesome video for a great song that is actually pretty dark at times.

the most exciting band of the 2020s.... thank you for everything!!! your writing and blend of shoegaze/country is so inspiring
Awesome sounds
This is a neat one.
I dont hear the shoegaze m’self.More like C.C.R.E.M.

I can hear the Drive-By Truckers influence on this one. Great song.
I hear some Cranberries influence as well

They are played here in STL pretty often on the college radio stations; that's how I found them.
Damn this song is soo good. It's got that laugh cry feel.
yes i love this!
very homey
like John Cougar Mellencamp-ISH
god damn those first two lyrics are some of the best openers to a song I’ve heard in a while
Very poetic. Especially those last few lines.
this video is so incredible when paired with the lyrics. what a triumph of a song. Rat Saw God is a 2023 AOTY contender no doubt!
The playful slide guitar flourishes really make this song hum, along with the girl grunge delivery and stellar lyrics. *smoOchies!
That’s a guy named Xandy Chelmis on the pedal steel, also plays in MJ Lenderman’s band, amazing to watch him play live.
@@carlh.h.2242 I will never tire of that sound. Sounds great on lots of old country, too.

Man some 90s sitcoms really miss this song. Good stuff
Terrific stuff. Real. Visceral. They come to Melbourne, Australia, home cooked biscuits 'n gravy, and possibly cheese grits are on me.
NEW WEDNESDAY SINGLE ON A WEDNESDAY
DUH!
This tune has got some serious Palace Music's "Viva Last Blues" and Son Volt's "Trace" vibes. Sweet sound.
This is rather good
You all really are progging out with these longer songs. I love it
y’all out here making me like Big Ole country music
Wow takes me back to 94-96 middle school and high school! Hits right in the gut and heart zone soulful flannel vibes.🦇

love all the archival vhs video synced with the new hd stuff in the same spots. shouts out to the fam!!
not my usual type of music, idk why but im becoming obsessed with this band!
I freaking remember that Nickelodeon radio too lol. So funny.
This might be my new favorite song. Generational anthem.
well done, found this today by accident.. have bin listening to u guys all day.. :)
Its easy to do, they have a great discography, as does MJ Lenderman (their guitarist)
This would have been right at home on the radio in 1995.
yeah, I was feeling the same thing. Nice 9os sound and aesthetic.
Best country rock song in long time. Every country song sounds Luke Bryant or Kenny chesney. This is Real Stuff!!
When Wednesday releases a new single, I think to myself "Yes".

About 30 years older than she is.. but wow.. she describes my 'lost' year of 1987 down to almost perfectly!
So good like fresh air...reminds me of 90s Alanis Morissette
This girls is going places
A real contender for song of the year! Music reviewers are gonna go nuts for this Jan 2024 in their retrospectives, I just feel it.
"Now, everywhere is loneliness, and it's in everything". Compelling.
they tricked us into listening to country. i am obsessed
sounds like a Black Crowes riff - love it!
