Always was my habit to visit her whenever I was in the forgotten crossroads. But then she wasn't singing. And then she swung at me when I dropped down. And I tried to get away. Then I noticed her eyes. Then I realized... I should just end her suffering.

Killing the radiance does save myla, since she was never killed, (if you don’t kill her) she was only manipulated by the radiance I think

When i saw she wasn’t mining i new something was happening, then I noticed the orange pupils, and upon dreamnailing i knew the infection would soon take her, so i left, i never came back
If it makes you feel better if you kill myla she will let out a cry which I think means she was just barely clinging on so if you just leave her after she gets infected and kill the radiance she would be free :)

Funny story.. I knew Myla would be infected because I watched people play the game before I got it and uh… I wanted to check her dialogue to see if it was really her and uh.. I forgot that pressing A doesn’t skip the dialogue and I may or may not have sent out a vengeful spirit coming her way…

She seems so lonely 😭 we notice her optimism slowly became sadness and depression. I wish there was some way we could save her.
She was actually happy mining for riches until she got the plague (which kills its host and control's the corpse) so theres no saving her

It's true that Myla's story is very sad, but if you think about it, all the bugs that we encounter throughout the game that are infected were like Myla and had their own stories and dreams

There's another way, if you don't kill the Soul Master, and therefore don't collect the Crystal Heart, Myla won't get infected at all.
When I first started playing Myla became my favorite character, just because of how cheerful she was while everyone and everything was dark and gloomy. I gets the message of her saying she liked when you would come to visit and how you liked her voice and I IMMEDIATELY knew something bad was going to happen and I couldn't go back.
I thought she was so cute when I first met her. I kept visiting and considered her as my lil friend. When she first started showing signs of infection, I was getting nervous. Still, I kept visiting every now and then. After crystal peak, I went back to visit and heard her with her pickaxe again so I began to think she was getting better.
I was so sad to see her infected. And what was more unfortunate was that I accidentally got too close to her and my thorns of agony killed her when she attacked.

Great job on the developers for letting us connect with this character. She’s very kind and even offers to share the treasure.
Everytime i went to the Crystal Peaks I was like "Let's come hear that delightful humming"
A few visits later I was very worried cause of no humming, after that visit you know how I felt...
i just got to that point, i go in to go and get the crystal heart, i always check on her from time to time, and i didnt hear the humming, my heart just dropped, i think im gonna cry
seems most characters in this game follow the darksouls trope of not having a happy ending
the knight never stays as he was during the adventure, he either becomes a jar of orange juice, leaves his shell and probably returns to the void lake, or becomes a demon beast and wreaks havoc/gets obliterated by flower
Both of my favourite NPCs died that's quirrel and myla hornet is the 3rd

Hollow knight tells a story of how the infection happens through 1 character. This is heart breaking. When I play steel soul I’m going to leave her alone when she starts attack me ;(
I spared Myla in the caves so that when I defeat the radiance via godhome. she can live on and collect her crystals and mabie tell the tale of the pale bug who loved her singing and braved the peak

@@ognok6698 uhhh have you ever dreamnailed some husks? it clearly gives you dialogue where they wonder if they are sleeping so it shows that the bugs are alive but under deep slumber
Reading the hunters journal it clearly called them corpses, dream nailing husks is just the radiance controlled mind taking. Sorta like Zombies infected by a Virus still being conscious as people, yet being dead.
And Myla didn’t die, she was simply being controlled. I don’t think the infection kills things when it infects them (Infected Vengefly) but just makes them hyper aggressive
But it can still resurrect and control corpses
When I first discovered the crossroads were infected I was weirded out and wondered if I did something wrong. When I discovered mytha after a while, I unintentionally killed her after being attacked by her with my thorns of agony. I knew she was going insane working herself to death. I just thought she was going to give up and head to dirtmouth at the end but no. Her attacking me was the last thing I expected.
shadowboy 2 she didn’t attack you because she wanted to, she was being infected by the radiance, a plague that kills the host and manipulated the corpse, when you met and and she attacked you, she was already dead

Ive watched this game countless times before I’ve ever gotten into playing it. I’ve just started my full playthrough and I gotta say this hit me way more than I even thought possible

When I Dream Nailed her the third encounter and saw the "KILL THE EMPTY ONE," my fucking blood ran ice cold y'all...
I went here to check if she was still ok... and at first I thought that another infected bug had taken her place, and a panicked so I killed her. When I heard her cry out I knew I made a mistake...
04:10 "KILL THE HOLLOW ONE''. Even though she probably means the Hollow Knight, it never really dawned on me that some creatures might try to kill Ghost because Radiance is telling them to do so
Basically 75% of all of your enemies are infected and that's why they attack you. That includes everything in the City of Tears, everything in Greenpath, everything in Forgotten/Infected Crossroads and so on. If the Dream Nail dialogue says something about light or dreams then they're infected. Like "I can't....Wake up..." or "...Light...The light..." for human-like enemies that have been infected such as the jumping bugs and the horned bugs from the Forgotten Crossroads
OR alternatively, a much easier and probably safer option is to see the color they bleed when you hit them or to see what color their eyes are. If it's orange they're infected. For example, no enemy in the Mantis Village will bleed orange because they're not infected, they're intelligent and they're defending their homes.
When she wasnt digging I felt bad for her and just hoped that little spark of happiness would come back.
But when i heard mining and no singing i just stood there watching her for a good few seconds then just left. Didn't go closer because i didn't want her to attack. Felt bad for the little bug.
To be honest hornet and myla are the most cute voice that I've ever heard on hollow Knight

So basically at the end of crystal peak I went to talk to myla. I was starting to feel a little sick and getting ready to get off for the session. Then myla started attacking me... which literally gave me the chills then I REALLY wanted to take a break
What makes it sadder is that she didn’t even need to dig. There are plenty of crystals jutting out of the ground or just lying around for her to take.
She wants to find more just for fun she thinks there is something behind it
The whispers from the crystals which made her want to see what it is
But I bet the whispers were the radiance all in her head
From the start she started singing and remmmembering that song she was a lost cause

there’s no cutscene for it and you can’t ever see it but canonically that is probably what happens
Killing Absolute Radiance would release her. The body isn't even dead, she just lost control of her body to the infection. Her mind is still fighting the infection but now failing.

I missed the bit where you see her starting to turn. So for me it went from many encounters with happy singing Myla to suddenly Myla attacking me. It was so genuinely upsetting 😢😢😢

Fun fact: at 3:30 the pose she is in even before she is far enough to attack you is the same pose that the husk miner makes in the hunter’s journal. At this point she is one of them now.

technically it is possible to save myla if you don’t get desolate dive or crystal heart, it’s just very difficult to beat the game that way
good lord. she felt like solaire from DS1. such a good natured soul, supportive and filled with kindness and brightness. He offered to help you against bosses, only to lose himself to despair slowly. when i first played DS1 i tried to find a way to save solaire. Myla reflects such a bright disposition on a place that was so gloomy. she was happy you were there. and openly invited you to stay with her. if i can find a way to not corrupt her as i did solaire. then i would be more than content.

The infection takes over the body of the bugs. It can be proved by dream nailing those infected bugs that sprint at you, saying "Am i still asleep?".

Myla, Moss Prophet, Hive Knight, and a couple others characters are ones I hate that have to die in the story. Course I guess Myla doesnt have to die but she kind of is dead in her head.
