I bought a bottle of LL12 about two months ago, (Total Wines) I am routinely buying less expensive scotches to try. This was a home run! I love the finish, a bit of wood taste me to me.
I got the LL18, heard it was quite funky and arguably the best they had to offer. Very unique in its palate, machine oils and industrial notes really stand out with the bit of peat in there.
Fascinating that you included "machine oils and industrial notes" in your tasting. I've never thought of those notes but will look for them in the future. Cheers!
Only because I would visit heavy machinery factories for part of my career, really leaves a taste in your mouth at the end of the day. Think of what you smell when you go to get your oil changed! @@WhiskyRiffs
Yeah, that'll do it. Because I don't know the names of spices as well as my wife, I'd find a familiar smell and then I'd be stuck with no words to describe it. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
YES!!! When you said "a nutty note" and "almonds or something" I shouted out YES!! That's exactly what I've always been getting from the LL12 and it's great to finally know I'm not alone! LL12 always surprises me with how much I enjoy it and I even prefer it to the LL18 (by quite a lot actually).
