- Here's local prospect Yuri Collins (2019) of St. Mary's High School led his team to one of the biggest upset in Saint Louis Basketball History.
This was a rematch after losing by 20 points to Chaminade in the Belleville East Tournament, so going into this rematch, the small school came in with a chip on their shoulders and was looking to get their revenge. Going into the game, the dragons went in with a ton of energy with their run-and-gun game which led them to dominate the entire game offensive and defensively for the 21-8 lead in the first quarter. Jericole Hellems and Chaminade did everything they could to fight back to cut the lead but it was too much as St. Mary's gets the 88-46 blowout victory over the Red Devils.

What I meant is this: High school aged kids shouldn't get this kind of introduction. This is a professional franchise/high level college intro that is part of the ENTERTAINMENT for a paying audience. High school games aren't that entertaining. They're usually free for students, while adults pay $5. Popcorn is a dollar. Hot dog is two.
At the high school level, it just goes to the player's heads. While it may provide excitement, the players think it's about them, simply because they're normal, immature high schoolers. High school players must focus, 100%, on getting better as an individual and as a team.
This makes them think that they've already arrived. When they get recruited by a division 3 school, or a local community college.....they may feel like they're too big for that college, instead of being honored by the fact that they're getting recruited by anybody.
