Why should religion precede over the law of the land? the law of the land is there to be impartial and equally beneficial to all. Arrogance...! religious mentality are so arrogant that they blindly parade their superstitions beliefs and prejudism.

+Underb00t the Church does not run the gov't nor enters the legislation rooms to sponsor or pass a bill. but the Church is always in the watch over laws that may degrade the morality of the people. this is what the Constitution asked of God in the Preamble before any law has ever been written and passed.
We, the sovereign Filipino people, imploring the aid of Almighty God, in order to build a just and humane society and establish a Government that shall embody our ideals and aspirations, promote the common good, conserve and develop our patrimony, and secure to ourselves and our posterity the blessings of independence and democracy under the rule of law and a regime of truth, justice, freedom, love, equality, and peace, do ordain and promulgate this Constitution.
We have the freedom but you fail to notice that the Church gives out subtle messages to you on who to vote in their homilies. I have noticed that many times, and you should remember how the Church ran things centuries ago and even today that they were not held accountable to the crimes they have wrought. You can remain to be religious but please do not defend them just because they under some divine authority that we are unsure of its existence. If God gave us a mind to think, then he will not mind us not believing in him.
Underb00t it is unfair to say that the Church dictates who to vote for thru "subtle messages". the Church only educates the people and gives criteria in choosing the right public servant. the Church does not endorse any candidate but the Church does not favor candidates who have records of immorality, corruption and other crimes. it is the obligation of the Church to help prevent this nation from being ruled by just some crazy politicians winning out of popularity. do you think that's wrong??
you mentioned about the crimes of Church people.. can you name some that got away because the Church manipulated their case? because it would be unfair and be considered as just a hearsay without concrete evidence.
re your last statement, i think God does mind but He cannot "force" us to believe in Him because that would be against the human "freewill". just like in the family, we cannot be forced by our parents to love them. but "not to love them", i think they would mind and they'll definitely get hurt..

This is my rundown on this issue presented: Rafael Alunan,Nariman Ambolodto and Sandra Cam have faith-based mentality which is harmful in governing a country with a very diverse population. These people have the tendency to be regionalistic and groupish, their ability to equal altruism to other groups that is very different to their own is almost zero percent. It is evident as they always parade their religiosity.
MArk Lapid and Martin Romualdez are the typical traditional politicians who undergone a facelift..or a younger version with the same old corrupt interior. They know how to milk a crowd to get votes, but deep down we know they are not sincere.
Jericho Petilla and Dionisio Santiago have displayed rationality and logical points.

implementing same sex marriage to philippines is good. Religious people should not be interfering this because it is not their right to do so.. it's not like if same sex marriage is allowed in the philippines, they would force people and religious people to get married to a gay person or forcing gay couples to get married.. parang RH bill lang to, if you don't feel like it then you don't have to.. walang pinuforce kondi tinatry lang ng government to be open to the possibilities para sa mga citizens ng pilipinas.

There are three main standpoints of government for which it participates in the undertaking of its citizens. It promotes, permits, and police. These three have a common denominator that all activities should benefit the society and push up the quality of life. Government can promote man-woman marriage because it is naturally beneficial in rearing up a family, which is the very nucleus of our society, regardless of what are the religion being practiced in the state is. However, government can only permit same sex partnership as being gay or lesbian is not a gender, but a behavior. Such partnership does not require the consent / promotion / endorsement of government /state.

I dont get why they put religion into the wagon, its not about being married in the church they can get their union via a judge its about having legal rights to ones property. And getting the same legal bebefits that only married couples are getting. The wrong here is that they keep saying it's marriage but the proper term should be civil union.

Petilla gave the best and logical answer but Raffy Alunan gave a good point as well. Dionisio gave good answer but not as much as logical as Petilla. All others walang sincerity yung sagot, Romualdez says yes pero walang substance yung reason why. Lapit says yes pero very generic yung sagot. Cam and the other girl based their answer on old mentality and faith based reasoning which is troublesome considering you will be representing not only catholics or muslims but the Filipino. Lets not mix religious beliefs into state policies.

The constitution has no problem, only people do. And the problem mostly stems from RELIGION. We can change the constitution anytime if people want to. We created the constitution FOR the people, not the other way around.
