- review of the Seicane replacement console and android stereo for the VW New Beetle. Two issues that have been highlighted since filming are:
The FM reception is not great and the screen washes out with a little sun glare. It will help when we get the windows tinted. I don't listen to FM much so I'm not too worried about the reception.

@@hesty32 question if you do not mind. The models from 1999 to 2004 does not have the hazard and airbag signs in the top. Do you remember if there is something on the dashboard kit to fill those holes? Maybe this is only for 2005+ beetle models?
@@ealeman71 you are correct, as I mentioned in the video, I would just get a airbag light from a 2005+ from a junkyard or online and use it to fill the hole.
@@hesty32 Thanks for taking the plunge on this and showing what it actually looks like installed. Their site only shows a poorly-photoshopped version that's obviously not real.
This may be the best option yet for putting a modern unit in a Beetle. I'm still a bit hesitant to commit since the relocated switchegear may be in the way of a manual shifter more often than they get close to an auto shifter. Are the modifications behind the fascia reversible? You mentioned cutting to free the climate controls... would love to see that aspect if you do another one.

2:20 I wonder if the lowered location for the AC/REC buttons actually has closer (more convenient) access from your finger tip during driving?
a couple questions for you….I just ordered the same kit on Amazon and I plan on doing this radio modification. I have heard of some people having issues with the battery drain after installation. Have you had these issues or know about it? Also, my beetle is a 2005 TDI manual. Is there enough clearance/space with this unit for a manual shifter?
You lose the cup holders and the power adapter height is very limited. Expect to 4-5 hours (lots of plastic cutting).

The console comes with the radio I have not found tutorial on it.

I got one of these Android units for a 2010 Beetle, but the reverse cam screen does not come on when putting it to reverse. How to wire the reverse camera?
Usually it’s a matter of hooking up a wire from the backup lights to the “rear view camera” wire on the stereo.
How is it holding up? Any issues?
this was for a customers car so I don't have any long term feedback unfortunately.

Where do you install the rear camera? I can't find a suitable place for the camera
I added a license plate frame from Alpine with a camera. They carry them at www.crutchfield.com
@@hesty32 A reverse camera is suppose to show how far away are the objects from your rear bumper. How about the one from Mitsubishi Mirage hatchback (aftermarket unit made by JIAYITIAN)?
Do you happen to live near orlando FL? I’ve been wanting to put one in my ‘09 beetle but haven’t pulled the trigger yet because of how difficult it looks to install
I’m a couple hours away up towards JAX. It does take a little work to install. One of these days I’ll get time to do an install video

I have the same kit but couldn't figure out how to RMEOVE the old 2 center vents (they seem to be hot melted onto the dash trim), and then RE-ATTACH them to the new dash trim. Could you let me know how you achieved that please?
Yes they are hot melted on. I drill them. Try to remove the plastic that is from the dash piece and not the vent. If you can save the “loop” (3 of them if I remember right) on the vent, it fits over a post in the new dash piece then a screw holds it in place
You said it works on 98-2010 models but the website says 2004. I have a 2003, would it work on that?
Yes it will work but you will have the hazard switch hole and the pass. Airbag light hole to deal with. As I mentioned in the video, you can either attach a blanking plate or just install those items from a junkyard or eBay source. The actual stereo wiring may have a couple small differences also
I have an 01 and I do not have the hazard lights at the top like that, we’re they moved?
98-2005ish, the hazard switch is on the lower console with the defrost and seat heater buttons. Mid 2005-2010 the hazard switch moved up to the area between the HVAC vents and the pass air bag light was added

I have the same setup and having issues with the sound quality. The wire harness is direct connect but the front speakers real loud and distorts, the rear very low volume. Any issues when you set up? Thanks
I have not had that issue. Do you have a monsoon set up or standard?

Also was wondering if the volume settings run high. Mine seems to need to run around 40 for a descent volume. Thanks for your feedback
Did you replace the back speakers? Difficult to find out but the monsoon system uses 2 ohm speakers. Putting a 4 ohm speaker on it will have very little volume. 2 ohm speakers are kind of hard to find
@@hestermannmotorwerks I did😞. It came with its own crossover with a +2gain but I guess not enough. I guess it would be better to have stayed with stock.
