They had built him up over the prior games as fucking invincible, so they basically wrote him to have slowly adopted that mindset, thus leading to obsession, and godly delusions, resulting in his cocky arrogance getting the better of him in 5 and ultimately getting him killed. While I hate to see him go, I honestly feel like it is a decent ending for him. He played the long game so well that in the end, he thought he was in the clear, and none could stop him. He saw himself as a literal god among men, having gone unchallenged for so long.

I can imagine Wesker Fighting his way through the mansion going against all of the bioweapons in his way. I wouldn't mind if capcom made a scenario similar to Hunk escaping the RPD but it is Wesker and the Mansion. I want to see Wesker coming across the monsters because this would make a intense moment something to remember in RE history. The Umbrella Chronicles did something like this but I want to see it in the main games.
The virus became more unstable in him making him more buff and powerful but also dependant on a certain serum to keep his virus under control in RE 5, that's why he looked different.

I get what you're saying, but then they should've just ended the series at 5. For the longest time afterwards, the series struggled to even find an interesting angle to roll with in his absence. Carla and Simmons were nowhere near well received as villains and only further complicated the story. Capcom even tried to compensate his loss by bringing his son and his estranged step-sister into the story, but even then, fans weren't satisfied. And while Resident Evil 7 has been a success, seems like that game's only split the fandom with a whole different set of problems.

This song makes Wesker 100x more badass than he already is. I already thought he was one of the best characters in any game, but this just sealed the deal for me.
