As far as I can tell, you can't buy ball pein hammers in France. They don't exist. So I went shopping in the UK. Sick squid landed me 2 vintage small engineer's hammers.
The French hammer is called a "marteau rivoir" a riveting hammer, which is what the ball peine hammer is! I have a wide selection of both types of French and Anglo-Saxon hammers use them indifferently, the squareness has long since ceased to be a problem for me, this is my 45th year in France! I have also 1.2 and 1.5 kg lump hammers (French ones, like the UK ones) with 50cm long handles that I use as forging hammers!
