Am I the only one who found the hiccups a load of bollocks? Whoever wrote this was hopefully fired. Quirky, cool car though.

I owned an Aventime for 13 years and the only problem was what the hell do you replace it with? It took a Tesla Model S for me to let go of the best and most exciting vehicle I had ever owned.

ZesPak french Renaults are the BEST!!! i got a 19 Energy from the early 2000s..

With only about 400 of these in the United Kingdom, this is one of the rarest cars you can stumble upon to the point where you will be really lucky to see one. Also like the unique Coupe/MPV crossover design and the fantastic space/visibility, making it possibly one of the most luxurious cars on the market. Definitely an awesome car!

The music and the presentation of this review seem dated... the car still looks so modern! A classic.

Really an ICON of a car concept production. Such a pity it flopped. They really should make it come back at some point soon.
Driving it makes you feel like you really do own the road. Bit on the thirsty side, and parts are expensive, but I love mine and would not let it go for any German saloon.

Tbh it’s actually a cool vehicle. The colour combination and design just add modern 2022 retro and hybrid petroleum electric and these would be hugely popular
I wish they'd just do _one_ shot where they show you the driver's view of the dashboard. Just for one second would have been good.
Haha back in 2007 one of these was in traffic in our town and literally everyone stared at it I remember thinking "is that Espace on drugs??" Lol the guy in sitting in it looked really embarrassed it was like time stopped when it appeared

I was looking forward to a decent review of this car, but all the arty shots and hiccups really got in the way. I'd like to have seen more of what the car actually offered and less of Hamster and his silly nonsense.

By father bought one because they are really rare (8.600) and will soon cost a LOT of money.
The doors on these things are huge and ridiculously heavy, I'm sure they could easly stop a pistol round.

This car is weird enough to be mine.
I recall reading about it back then, my favorite part of the article being a picture of a girl walking briskly away from James May, with the caption something like "He suggested she try it in the Open Air with him...", that apparently being a trade name for one of the car's features.
As unreliable as these old frenchies were, I miss the madness. The massive 607 and c6, the bonkers avantime and 1007. Even something weird like the Vel Satis

Doesn't seem like it, Hammond is driving an LHD model. Some Renault models are never made in RHD.
EDIT: Yes, they were, but they were ultimately failures.

One of very few cars all three of the trio loved.
It's a crossover. Even ahead of the Toyota RAV4, which was specifically a crossover SUV. This is basically the Kia Soul, Jaguar i-Pace, and Mercedes Benz GLA ancestor.
Except this has absolutely zero off-road pretension. It's just a different take on a grand tourer coupé, based on an aluminium spaceframe chassis derived from the Espace minivan.

It's a nice car, but it never got a diesel engine in the UK like it's brother, the Renault Vel-Satis did. A diesel version in the UK would have got better economy figures over the heavy thirsty 2.0 litre, 2.2 litre, and V6 petrol engines.
Diesel would have been criminal in this. The V6 just needed to be bigger than 3 litres - a 3.6 version would have been good, and there's room in that block for up to 5 litres.

@@anthonyperkins7556 diesels are hateful abominations, acceptable only in agricultural 4x4s. The only one that's remotely acceptable is the BMW straight six.

Made by Matra, just like the early Espace. Unfortunately Renault released the competing Vel Satis around the same time, basically killing Matra by doing so.

+Menandmotors Works well. Quiet, comfortable car, but a little is hardish suspension. I plan to change the original suspension Monroe to Koni that would improve road holding. Unfortunately I have no option of a glass roof.

I first set eyes on the Avantime in the dystopian movie "Children of Men". I thought it was the ugliest car I'd ever seen. The Avantime here looks actually good.
the only thing that looks bad at this car is the back. And only the ugly designed back ist the part, Renault has puz on their other models too.
exactly. I like this car too but it is impractical to be honest, but it was a brave attempt to "look" in the future, when you consider, that a VW Golf 4 was state of the art back in 2001
