Just discovered this sonata within the past year, and i've played thru all of them over the years. Somehow, i didn't recall this one, which is magnificent. Ve all hav too lov Volfgang!
I know this sonata in brilliant interpretation of Emil Gilels. That is why many piano players did not play it. I think they were afraid to be compared with the great pianist. Lucas's performing is magical! Bravo!
@@SuperLeoV ok, so because of your comment I went looking and listened to Gilels play (live, I think) on a record from years back (obviously). I'm always curious to hear how people pin down in specific terms what they think makes an excellent performance. What is it about his performance that you would say distinguishes it from others'?
I don't like to compare piano players. Especially - great pianists. Each of them has his own magical sound. Gilels is The Wizard of piano playing. He has unforgettable style. In my opinion, of course @@erichetherington9314
They CLAPPED after the first movement! Yes! Bravo! I've been advocating that the ridiculous classical world idea that you must squash your emotional response after a strongly emotional first movement should be changed culturally! Why can't we clap after, say, the Brahms Fist concerto's first movement? What's more natural than that? Besides, we clap after opera arias, after ballet solos, etc. I say GOOD ON THE AUDIENCE (or at least some) for clapping after a dynamic first movement.
Not sure about during the times of Brahms, but Roger Norrington said that in Mozart's day people most definitely did clap between movements and encouraged us (the audience) to do so if we felt like it.
Beautiful Sonata and excellent play. 👏👏👏👏👏🎶🎼🎹
Immense Bravo à Toi Lucas
Впервые дослушал Моцарта до конца, спасибо!
That piano sounds magic ✨ brilliant performance 💎
One of my favorite sonatas of Mozart. He would have loved this performance I believe.
Merci beaucoup, M. Debargue!
