Everything you changed makes perfect sense, and looks to be exactly what I'd do if i had a Maxx Slash. When the truck was first announced, i had planned to buy one. Then as soon as the price was announced, and i started seeing vids like yours as well as a few others that i trust, my plans changed. Seeing the stark differences in reviews, really shows how much influence these manufacturers have over a lot of well known youtubers. Thanks for keeping it honest.

Always look forward to your tuning videos👍 You give an honest assessment of a vehicle and real world solutions to address those shortcomings. Then the consumer can decide if those weaknesses are game changers and/or the cost of addressing those problems is worthwhile. Great stuff!
I just picked one up and noticed the whine from the pinion immediately as well. I trimmed out a little bit of the plastic where it was rubbing and I think it's gonna help a smidge, we shall see. weird that they wouldn't have started with a 24 or smaller pinion to actually fit. oh well haha
I like that the thumbnail shows a new ESC. If you spend a grand and a week, you can make it almost as good as a Mojave! Great tips for the folks that burnt 700 already.
Do your front driveshafts run on the hubs when you’re using the shocks in the middle hole on the shock extenders? Mine do on my maxx slash which is why I can old run the front shock extenders if I put them in the outer holes.
It's my problem with the whole thing is that you're spending $700 and you're replacing $200 worth of equipment. So you're saying that's worth it. I don't know I guess I've got my doubts.
Amazon had a 5% coupon on the 6s Mojave this past week. It was $592 with that. The 4s Mojave is $500. For $1092 you get them both and both are pretty decent straight out the box. I wonder how close to that $1092 you've spent already or will before its over? It'll be a neat trick to make this better than both Mojave's by then.

So you bought a Maxx Slash and then threw everything out to make it do what it wasn’t meant to do? And it still suck at that? Yeah, terrible build. There isn’t much you “need” to change. Add the sway bars, add some foam and clips for other batteries, flatten and lengthen the suspension if you like. But thats it. Radio is 50/50. Just if you have it already. Its NOT a basher. Its fun to challenge people to do some laps without rolling it stock. It’s a beautiful stadium truck. If you want something else, buy something else. I made a custom body with lights and all because thats my thing. This truck is a great canvas for some amazing body mods. But to make people think its trash out of the box is still so very wrong. Its like buying a crawler and getting made it can’t launch 20 feet… I did a mod for a friend that made this into a huge drifter! No joke, the body I made for him was an AE86 Tofu Shop. He kept the esc and motor just changed the gearing. He said he’d upgrade onecs he burns those out but for now its running grate. I don’t know much and drifting but the tiers he got work great.

What about general driving grass, gravel, dirt, street, I was thinking thicker springs, and 60 weight oil, front and rear. I want to know your thoughts on this plz respond

Definitely disappointing the maxx slash looks so good and you would think it rips but it’s just not good slash rips maxx rips this thing should have been a home run
no the maxx slash comes with 60wt oil... not 50... and no you dont need to cut holes in it... no it doesnt need to put 100 oil in it.... these trucks are not bashers you dont run the preload all the way out... that will slow it down... these truck need very litle adjustment at all.. it should come with the swaybar kit but traxxas didnt put it on the car.. swaybars are the only thing it needs!!
Honestly, pos. Just like the maxx. You literally must spend hundreds of dollars to achieve acceptable performance. Compared to the mojave 6s, this is absolute garbage. There really is no excuse, traxxas is just too greedy with their proprietary crap.

Traxxas proprietary bs is killing it 😢
I found the truck to run great factory on dirt short course track using the Traxxas Belted Sledgehammer tires on 4s.
Which Sledgehammers did you go with? Do you have the TRA number?

I ditched the riser block f&r for sledge rear shocks, all the travel and no limit block!
