In the chloroplast are the thylakoids, which stack to form grana. The membranes of the thylakoids contain proteins (chlorophyll) which take energy from sunlight to break apart water molecules into protons, oxygen and electrons. The electrons pass down the electron transport chain in the membrane, causing the protons to be actively transported outside of the thylakoid into the matrix cytoplasm. The high constration protons causes protons to move back across the membrane through atp synthase channels, producing atp molecules. Then comes the light independent reactions, where a RUBP molecule is bound with CO2 via rubisco enzyme to form a 6 carbon compound, which splits into 2 3 carbon compounds. A couple of processes occur involving binding and release of atp, and you end up with 12 3 carbon molecules, 36 carbons in total, 6 of the carbons are formed into a glucose molecule, and the last 30 reform RUBP molecules, and the entire process can start again! This is kinda simplified and may contain a couple errors like the direction of movement through thylakoid membrane, but it's midnight and I cba to type it all out on my phone or double check my knowledge in my textbooks Also you better freaking feature me lol, I finished my biology exams and hoped to forget it all but you forced me to remember gdammit I want reperations!!
dandymcgee As a chemical biologist I can tell you that we don’t know exactly. Some key things have been worked out but some details are not fully understood yet, though there are some possible theories
113m According to Pythagoras’s formula: Optus stadium is 42m high from that platform and the frisbee roughly went approximately 12-15m past the centre line. Half of the Optus stadium field measures 82.5m and they threw it approximately 10m before the goal line. To measure the range finders distance the hypotenuse needs to be calculated. 42m squared plus 105m squared is 113m squared. Thus 113m is hopefully the distance the range finder read.
well, photosynthesis in the chloroplasts occurs by capturing a photon of light in the proteins inside the cell which react with the voltage differential in order to react water and carbon dioxide into glucose (with several stages) I dunno where you could sneak another “how” in there, but I’ll be glad to explain that too
this is kind of a sketchy answer. true, photons are absorbed by pigments in the thylakoid membrane inside the chloroplasts, but it is handling that absorbed energy which allows the series of transmembrane proteins to gradually build up a proton concentration (more of a chemical potential than a voltage differential), which another transmembrane protein then uses to convert ADP back into ATP (let's not forget the very useful reduction potential of regenerating NADH and NADPH too). As for actually making glucose, that ATP generates is needed for the pathways that take CO2 from the atmosphere and indirectly bind it into the six-carbon sugar! voila
Plants create glucose through the Calvin cycle by combining NADPH created by light dependent reactions that utilize an electron transport chain, and organic carbon molecules found in the soil.
I found Gaunson's rant on photosynthesis quite inspiring. As long as we have a how, we will have a why. As long as we have a why, we will have a reason and as long as we have a reason. We will have a purpose. Long live the cheeky how?!
Well it has to be between 115 meters and 82.5 meters (The official length of the field is 165 meters and i used the 50 lines for the estimate). BUT, that would be if you used the range finder from the ground. I'm assuming you used the range finder from the top. The height of the stadium is about 45 meters (like the tower, odd) so by using Pythagorean theorem, I found that the length of the frisbee throw would be about 110 meters.
Well, you guys always put in 110% into every video and obviously the 44 club is the best club so according to the law of thermodyn... wait, what was i thinking? Oh yeah, the frisbee went 154 metres.
How difficult rock/paper/scissors must get after you've been playing it with the same guys for years and years, all the time. They must know each other's unspoken strategies by heart.
Photosynthesis doesn’t turn sunlight into glucose... Sunlight provides the energy for the plant to convert carbon dioxide and water into glucose & oxygen.
You’re Not My Daaad! That still means that it is using sunlight and carbon dioxide to make glucose..... it's still one energy into another..... so technically his sloppy explanation was correct...... still not a science channel though so you probably shouldn't be splitting hairs.... especially if you're wrong
Let's get this straight, is sunlight a reactant or an energy used to create something else? Smartass. It doesn't use up the sunlight, therefore it is not a reactant, and is just an energy that is used. Oh, also you forgot a rather vital thing. Water.
LOL you didn't mention water either I wasn't aware we were just listing all the resources that photosynthesis needs to operate😂....also...by what reasoning, does a form of energy cease being a resource, just because "it can't be used up"??? (Which is incorrect btw)....the amount of energy the sun can emit before it inevitably burns out is FINITE, and can be measured..... triggered out of logic I see😱
Can you actually read, or would you like me to repeat my first comment, where I mentioned water and Carbon dioxide being converted to glucose and oxygen? Also I am well aware that the sun's burnout is inevitable and it's energy is FINITE but let's think about the grand scheme, shall we? The sun's burnout will be in approximately 5 billion years, all that time, it will be emitting it's energy, so for our lives and millennia ahead of them, it's energy could be seen as infinite, especially seeing as when the sun burns out, it's taking earth with it.
You start out watching HR thinking Gaunson is your favorite because he's just a classically hilarious dude.
