    Thank you for sharing and comparing. Probably the best review and comparison on cases and gig bags.

      Thanks Johnny, I do have a thing about cases / gig-bags so glad that you've found it helpful.

    Great discussion of the different styles of cases...and I agree...the shoulder strap is really important. The Enya Nova doesn't currently come with a shoulder strap on its case, and that was one of the few negatives I had about it!
    I also like soft cases that have a hanging hook...which can come in useful for storage or even when you have to carry your ukulele around and need to put it somewhere temporarily.
    I don't think the soft hard cases (I can't remember the correct term--like violin/viola cases) look bad, but the Crossrock cases do look great!

      Thanks Chris, I really enjoyed doing this one. I haven't really had a need for a hook but can totally see why it is a good thing to have to have to option of hanging.

    I use a nicely padded Levy’s gig bag for each of my ukuleles. Side handle, back straps and all the storage I need. Great prices for quality build. I do bring a day back pack for my music separately, though. I am careful with my instruments and I don’t fly with them either. Never had a proble,… yet 😊

    Those "ugly" Uke Crazy cases are really great cases and can be completely un-uglified by adding embroideered patches to them. I get compliments on mine all the time!

      Totally agree they are excellent case and I have to admit, I bought a love Lanikai uke a couple of years ago which came in a pod case which I have “customised” a little. I’ll have a go with the patches, Thanks. 👍

    • @UkuleleWales
      @UkuleleWales  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Jason, maybe you mean the TGI ABS case? It is a VERY solid case and yes, I would fly with this one but if at all possible, I'd put it in overhead storage.

  • @faethe000
    @faethe000 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Using the case for multiple ukes is something people don't really consider. They think of hard cases as doubling as storage at home, and that's just not necessary. If you play tenor ukes, invest in a nice hard tenor case and then use it any time you take any of your tenor ukes traveling. You're unlikely to take more than one, so one case will do. Ditto for concert or whatever.
    Thinking of it that way, $100 for a case for 5 ukuleles starts to look very reasonable.

    • @UkuleleWales
      @UkuleleWales  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Totally agree, much better to have one really good case for each size, although the double case is useful too! ;-)

    Hi there. I’ve just bought an Ohana CK70R. It’s a gorgeous concert that I’m loving playing but the case I bought with it is decent enough but not protective. I like the look of the Crossrock and TGI hardshells. Are they particularly heavy if you’re carrying them around? Thanks. PS - thanks for the Ukulaliens channel. I’ve learnt so much since I started playing end of April. 👍

    • @UkuleleWales
      @UkuleleWales  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi both cases aren't particularly heavy but offer excellent protection. My main advise, always make sure they have a shoulder strap - personally I wouldn't buy a hard case with a strap.

    • @sharonclewes6307
      @sharonclewes6307 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ukulele Wales Thanks very much. I’ll definitely want a shoulder strap. I’ve read reviews of the Crossrock handle breaking easily (only a few reports but enough to notice) so a shoulder strap would reduce the wear and tear on the handle. Plus it’ll be easier to carry. I’m all for an easier life! Stay safe 👍

    Excellent video my friend, very very useful ! Thank you :)
    Unfortunately my ukulele case in wood (with fake leather) doesn’t have straps :/
    The last case seems to be perfect, but heavy, right ?

    • @UkuleleWales
      @UkuleleWales  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the lovely comment. I think it is possible to actually add small d rings to a case for a strap but agree, much better to have the option. Yes, the last case is an absolutely brilliant case and it isn't actually too heavy, it is a soprano though.

    Oh you should see the bag that came with my ukulele. I got a ukulele and it came with a bag and the bag was literally a drawstring bag. That fabric is like dryer sheets, it’s not protected the ukulele from anything.

    • @UkuleleWales
      @UkuleleWales  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, I know some of the bags really are not very useful. Hope you are enjoying your uke though?

    Hi- I have a question about the Crossrock and TGI, do they have a chemical smell from the glue? I have a beautiful KoAloha and it came in a Kala case which just reeks for 8 months now and it still stinks- I won’t put her in there anymore but due to the pandemic I can’t get out and start sniffing cases! Thank you for the review and I loved your tee shirt-I had a good giggle!

    • @UkuleleWales
      @UkuleleWales  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Jesse, I don't recall any smells with either of them and they are both great cases. I do know what you mean, I had a cello case years ago that had a horrible smell and yes it reeked! Have you tried a car air freshener? This has worked for me.

    • @jessedavis9587
      @jessedavis9587 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for getting back to me- I have tried everything- baking soda, putting it in the sun etc.... I just ordered a Mono case -I am praying it doesn’t smell!
