first time i’ve ever seen a video of yours, love the way you talk! thanks for the content! I just bought the “old” tatula lt! I have a procyon mq and it’s really sweet!
Thanks Brian. Was waiting patiently for this reaction. The tatula spinner has been my security blank ever since the Sol and “good Fuego” were discontinued. I have 9 of the first generation and love them. Hopefully the new ones will be just as pleasing. Thanks for your great reports as always, 👍🏻🇺🇸
Good to see ya again. It's been a minute. The other good thing about the new Tatula MQ reels is they made a shallow spool option similar to the Limited edition silver one you own. That's a first for Daiwa in the US market as almost ALL their reels are deep spools. Looking forward to getting my hands on it.
@@PunchFishing understood, but there have been no shallow spool option in the MQ reels released to date. The new Tatula is the first shallow spool option.
I stop watching fishing videos in the winter, too annoying up here in Canada watching these dudes in Florida or Texas with their nice days, and I'm up here freezing my ass of. Days are getting longer and warmer, so in about a month I'll be on the water again. Glad to see ya picking back up with the videos.
Nice review. Think we are on the same page. Sleeper craw I think will be decent but it’s more hype than anything like you said it’s a jig. I judge the price similarly to a topwater frog being it’s elastomer. The Tatula MQ is ok. I liked the weight , color and styling on the old LT one better. I do think the MQ is a good thing and definitely a value when compared to ballistic. As far as features it looks very similar other than not for saltwater.
I snagged one of those Tatula MQ 3000D CXH at the classic for a great deal. Nobody has that new Tatula Elite Hair Jig rod though. Mines been on backorder for so long haha. New Tatula is pretty awesome though, they even put spool support bearings on it. I had to install them myself on the certate. My drag clicker was a little on the quiet side so I had to manually tune it a bit to make it louder.
I’m excited to try the new Tat MQ. I’m a big fan of the Kage MQ, and I held off on buying another over the winter cuz I knew this new Tat was coming out. I ordered the 3000 with the shallow spool. Really interesting to see a 3000 with less line capacity then the 2500.
@PunchFishing do you have any experience with the regular cork handle daiwa tatula. I bought a 6'6" medium light fast action Tatula and compared to the 6 to 10 other cheaper medium lights I've used for the last few years that thing felt STIFF as a board! Great sensitivity but no bend/ softness in the rod whatsoever. I also bought a 6'10" medium light fast shimano xpride and I'd describe it the exact same way. I see these video's of these guys catching fish and their rod has this amazing parabolic bend and I just don't see that out of mine. My question is this.. are these high end rods naturally much stiffer than their cheaper counterpart? Or am I just not fishing a long enough rod? Keep in mind my rod locker is LOADED with 6'6" medium lights. I love that length and power. I don't understand the need or desire to fish with these medium heavy rods as anytime I've even tried stepping up to medium it's waaaaay to stiff for my liking. Even these tatula and xprides in medium light are stiffer than I'd like. If i hook 4 pound bass (which is at the upper end of the average fish spectrum on my lake) i want that rod to be MAXED out and having to rely on my drag to help fight the fish.. would love your thoughts. Sorry i know this is a long message but also (new job) looking to upgrade my rods to some higher end stuff. What are your recommendations based on what I've just described? I just ordered an Okuma x-series, and I'm considering trying Megabass Orrochi xx 7'0" medium light fast, st. Croix eyecon 6'6" ML, st. Croix eyecon 7' medium moderate for throwing crankbaits like wiggle warts. Man i know it's a long message but I'd love your thoughts if you have time. Thank you
Nice vid! Thanks for the weight on the Yamatanuki 👍 I'll still buy scats, but intrigued to see if the Yamatanuki slots allow for less specific hook characteristics such as a Ryugi Infini. Should be able to get easier bite gap/hook penetration? I'll pass on spinning Daiwa's. MQ reels don't interest me personally. Value spool design for line management of straight nylon line applications, which from my experience, Shimano currently has Daiwa beat. Cool med/Hvy spinning rod feature. A fan of powerful spinning rods for similar reasons.
@@PunchFishing I know in the past you’ve talked about panfish and musky which I would both enjoy. Outside of bass fishing very little quality gear coverage sadly.
That Tatula MH spinner sounds like it could be a good free rig rod. I’m often under-powered when I throw free rig on medium spinner, especially in heavyish grass. Whaddya think?
I like the dark sleeper but the new sleeper craw not feeling it. The hook gap looks very small from what I see maybe after you fish it you can give a review on the hook up ratio. Nice to finally get some new video content from you, love your channel man. Keep it up 👍
Just wondering if the bail assembly alone can be interchangeable from Ballistic mq to Tatula mq? Usually they'll try changing the part by the rotor so they can't be interchangeable. That'll be great if you can find out.
That’s interesting you mentioned the back reeling issue when cold. I had a similar issue with a daiwa tatula sv casting reel. Got out fishing on a stupid cold morning and my casting reel started back reeling. Wonder what caused that?
I don't fish spinning combos a lot but i really like the Daiwa spinning reels. They are stronger than the Shimano reels. However, i like the casting reels of Shimano a lot more. They are smoother and casts better. New to your channel and i like it a lot. Here in South Africa we pay quite a lot for fishing tackle but always worth it. Tight lines.
I feel the exact same way. For some reason when feeling between the Vanford and Tatula MQ LT the Tat just felt right. On other hand, the daiwa casting reels just do not feel good to me. Love my shimano casting reels, though.
@@PunchFishing i got a 2500& a 3000 size Vanquish FB, the 3000FB has a bigger line capacity/ Gear Ratio (5.3:1 i prefer) compared to the new FC Lineup. In the FC Lineup its one or the other. ( 1: gear ratio OR 2: line capacity). But looks and spec-wise the FC wins everytime.
The rod link goes to the Randy Howell "Power Spin" rod. Did you get that or the Takahiro Omori "Shakey Head" rod? Curious how the new Tatula MQ will compare to the Procyon MQ?
@@PunchFishing Is there a reason I should avoid them? I'm trying decide between ordering a couple of edge spinning rods or going for NRX+. I'm just getting into highend and i'm coming from a lew's setup. I do alot of walleye and crappie fishing and want to up my bass fishing this year. I'm in SW Minnesota if that makes a difference for choices.
So after using the tatula mq lt and ballistic mq lt, I would 10000% pay the extra $30 for the ballistic. Maybe its just me but it is so much smoother and effortless than the tatula.. what do you think?
How are you going to store the sleeper craw?... I think they will melt if you have them in Plano boxes like zman stuff?... I'm getting mixed answers but will be keeping them in original packaging which is gonna be a nightmare to store multiple pcs.. Much prefer to have everything in Plano boxes..
Companies would be smart to make their reels all black for the people who like to match (I care to an extent). I know a lot of people who won't pair that MQ with their Daiwa Rebellion, which is black and gold.
😂haha so moments after leaving a comment that I thought the Shimano Xpride B 6'10" medium light i got felt extremely STIFF for me. I watched another one of your videos where you described the same rod as way too soft..🤔 i guess this is a case of relativity 🤷🏽♂️?
Sleeper craw is kinda meh for me. Cool for sure, but for $10 a pop, I'm not buying. Literally slam a neko nail weight into a zman crawz(the bigger one) and texas rig it
Dude I cannot believe at this point Daiwa still has fans? The MQ gearing system is garbage. Their service department is FULL of thieves. Daiwa is rapidly heading for 3 place.
@@PunchFishing I’d love too. So bought a certate, after 6 months I wanted it cleaned and serviced. 25 bucks at shimano INCLUDING shipping. Well the boys at Daiwa felt it was fair to charge me another 196 dollars to service my reel. Charged it to my account. Didn’t even ask.
We all need to thank Tackle Advisors for finally getting through to Daiwa to shim those handles properly

The clicking mechanism. Missed them on the Daiwas. Just like my older TD spinning reels. Great videos!

Really pleasant to watch at least one person keeping cool concerning the current hype about the sleeper craw. Well done and thank you 👍

That bail click just gives me extra peace of mind that the bail actually opened all the way. Great move by Daiwa.
Tatula XT vs Tatula with cork handle. $99 vs $149. Is there any difference besides the cork handle?

After using that Tat Elite rod this year, how do you like it?
