I remember Marcus organized a trip through CEE capital cities in 2018/2019 to meet with CEE founders. We have met in Warsaw, a meeting for 30-40 founders. He was 18-19y old then but mature as 35ish. Anway his superpower as he underlined - being fearless about the outcomes and very quick decision making and taking action quickly. Bolt in South Africa is so unsafe. You sometimes have drivers using a different car and/or number plate from the one shown in the app, and at times (quite frequently actually) the driver on the app is not the same as the driver who picks you up.
The corporate color green, roadmaps, etc reminds us a lot with GOJEK from INDONESIA. Starting from ride-hailing startup, then food delivery, event e-ticket, e-money, etc.... GOJEK now is a UNICORN. It's founded by a YOUNG INDONESIAN graduated from HARVARD 😊
The story behind uber explains why. They had to break alot of laws, got banned many times from many cities... Ect. Just go watch a video on the story of uber
This is what you get when they demand less oversight and government.. Gypsy cabs were around forever, but were illegal. But create an app with it, then it becomes a "tech company" with no rules.
...... They r now in Malaysia, competing with Grab, Air Asia & in-Driver. If these platforms would compete who has d lowest fare, then they can kiss all d drivers goodbye. Drivers r not interested with their so called honey coated benefits. Without drivers, ehailing don't exist.

Its depressing to hear stuff from South Africa. Seems like the country is ready to collapse, used to be a place I wanted to visit.
