    Love your key chain lol. The OEM windscreen sucks. I got a zero gravity tinted windscreen on my FZ6R and it really helps with free way cruising - going 125 while lowering head to the gas tank and feel absolutely nothing.

    I've been drooling over bikes the past 2 months researching absolutely everything. Trying to get back into bikes after 12 years without one, I used to have a new R6. Was an insane bike but like most young guys didnt want to believe it was uncomfortable -- it was. Now I've been back in the game looking at EVERYTHING from 300 class bikes, Ninja 650, GSXR600, up to GSXR1000R and beyond, wondering what the move is. Really thought I was settled on MT07/XSR700 or Ducati Scrambler but honestly I live in So Cal and we have to do highway driving for everything. Anything less than inline 4 power and smoothness + full wind screen is stupid for constant highway cruising needed here. I do not like the look of half fairing bikes either like the original FZ6. Then this FZ6R pops up. It's like they made this bike for me. And they're SO CHEAP! Thanks for the recent, relevant review!

    Thanks for the review. I'm looking at this bike and you were the first I've heard mention the fuel efficiency! That's a biggie for me! I'm also looking at the Ninja and I'd put this one in the lead right now!

    • @stickmoto7688
      @stickmoto7688  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      TheOhsheila11 the ninja is a solid bike too, rides great. What pushed me towards this bike is the engine. I didn’t like the parallel twin engine that the ninja has as much as the inline 4 the FZ6R uses. To me it felt much smoother, especially when you get into the higher RPMs.

    • @SteveWKk
      @SteveWKk 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @mdsmith1019 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've never ridden the FZ6R but have some experience with both beginner bikes and bigger ones. I would say if you're older and feel comfortable sitting on it (touching feet down) I don't think this is too much bike to start on. The biggest thing starting out is being comfortable eoth the weight of the bike. The R3 is super light by comparison but that's really the only advantage IMO.

      @@mdsmith1019 fz6r is big enough to possibly be the only bike in need, it's really sexy looking I think. Sexy and a little grunt while the r3 is just sexy..... Really sexy that is.

    I have a 2010 FZ6R and about 2 months into owning it since
    I feel great about owning one, the look is a head turner, the feel of the ride is great, everything for riding it 9000kms+ (~5600mi)
    Just recently started riding with another person who has an 07 FZ6, and I am noticing the difference, but not such a problem I think, as at the end of the ride it's how much you've enjoyed it, and if I personally wanted more from the bike I'd be looking at a YZR6 opposed to Yamaha's FZ/MT
    If it would had been the option get an fz6 or an fz6r
    I would look past the fact that the fz6 does pull more than the fz6r, but the look of this bike really is something else and how it performs very well climbing to 215km+(133mi)

    this was almost my first bike , ended up buying an 09 ninja 650r a few years later. after one season moved up to a 09 gsxr 750 . few years later looking at that bmw s1000rr, gsxr 1000 , or zx10.
    anyways as far as the 650 went if you are thinking about both. my 650 was awesome , came with woodcraft sportbars which looked awesome and were still comfortable ( im 6'2 , 6'3 ) i upraded the exhaust and she was loud as hell. it was a blast to ride and taught me how to manage the turns. i rode A LOT . like...ALL THE TIME. learned how to take turns, build confidence and not be an idiot. once that was done, i was desperate for more power. so if you want a great starter bike either of these bikes would be great. the trick is to put in the seat time, learn , and resell it for the same price you bought it...or more !

    My dad bought this bike in 2012, used, he told me It had some mods to it but idk what kinds it had on it, it was making around 750cc, to the crank, and it was straight piped. it had a FZ6r on the side of it but in dark red. but the bike was black. He did not have a lines to drive the bike but he drove it anyways, but 99% of the time, it was in the front yard collecting dust and getting hit by weather. He said it was comfortable for a guy that was 210 pounds at 6,2.

    Hey, thanks man for the review! I found a 2012 with 698 miles? And the photo's, the bike looks like it only has 698? It seems odd for a 10 year old bike. I haven't seen it in person yet, like you, this one slipped under the radar. They have a M7 also but, I loved your review and what you like about riding too ;) And it's the black one with cool red graphics for $5995....I watched too many British dudes on their Monkeys and bought one 2 months ago. Never rode a motorcycle before haha and I took to riding better than I thought. So, this really isn't too big of a leap and good (real) first bike, you think? And honestly I'd keep the Monkey because I don't want to mess with it (buying-selling-trading) but, the Monkey is not for U.S. roads beyond a small tight community with 55 limits. I want a bike I don't feel like I'm going to get run over on from behind or fall into a chuck hole Lol thanks, I love ALL you guys who make these videos. Really appreciate it

  • @aiden1444
    @aiden1444 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I bought a 2013 new, $7150 tax included Canadian currency.
    I’ve been riding a Yamaha bike for 35 yrs now, my $ only works in the Yammy store.
    My style is, owning the best Yammy. I didn’t need another R1 block, I have an Apex already. But more importantly, not that I agree with some laws, and after using an Apex, unrestrictedly. People there’s not enough room on the streets for a skilled rider and a 1000 cc sport bike. But there’s is just the right amount of fun and room with the FZ6R.
    Brand for brand
    $ for $, and every other apples to apples comparison.
    With reliable distance travelled, i don’t feel I will achieve much greater even owning the FJR 1300.
    The FZ6R........ at 80 kph in 1st gear, power really starts pulling hard at 7000 rpm. The girls call it sexy. It is functional and good looking too. 36 mpg ish, maybe 38 mpg if rode more conservatively, ... can use passenger foot pegs for extra comfy position, and it’s really quite nice then.
    The handling,,,, well every Yamaha will make a good rider out of anyone in this department.
    It has an actual handle bar steering column. Not just the bars clamped to the forks feel. This is where the sport touring model comes in. Sporty bike, upright posture handle bar steering column.
    Brakes...... I call them control levers, but. None the less they work very well. Nothing soft about Yammys progressive braking. It’s abs concept, but not abs.
    The 6R will counter lean very well to stiff cross wind, with a head down its easy to remain relatively dry in the rain.
    If I wanted more bike, I’d have bought more bike. I keep mine factory crate stock. They work everyday this way. Gas n go. Repeat...... I do enjoy octane boost tho.
    Sound.... silence is better than loud crap exhaust. Actually,,,, show me the forward pointing exhaust,,,,, sound is a by product of power. Only emergency vehicles have sound ports facing forward. Loud pipes do not save lives!!!!!!! They just can’t be heard facing fwd.
    the only tools may need is chain tension tools. Get a good chain n set it and forget it. Basic oil change tools too.
    Some think may be outgrown,,,,, well tell me where to watch as a rider goes around a city intersection corner at 60 mph. I could agree that person has everything they can achieve with that bike. But really riders,, not till then. These boys can’t even do 60 mph over a drift with their snowmobiles. Heck they can’t even follow me at 60 kph around the corners on the sled trails. So NO, power seeking is not the answer.
    I could go a comfy 130 kph at night, awesome headlights.
    I’m 5’10” myself. Excellent fit in every dept.
    After 7 years with the 6R, I really can’t find a flaw to it. The 1000’s cant dust ya riding with the guys.
    I personally am a dominant Yamaha bias. After a personal 35 yrs, show me a better brand name.
    Don’t hesitate buying one .......
    Sorry to all prospective FZ6R buyers, mine is not for sale.

      You guys are both wrong....I would definitely put the Two Bros over those two when it comes to quality. You get what you pay for when it comes to Two Bros and it definitely shows. I haven't heard any FZ6R's in person with different exhaust, but I can most positively say that my bike with the Two Bros is one of the best sounding 600cc in line 4's out there! You gotta hear it in person, it honestly sounds like a 1000cc when revving!!

      I would advise against dropping a tooth in the front for acceleration, granted it makes the bike fun when accelerating with that extra pull, but it kills gas milage on the freeway due to the revs being alot higher. Doing 80mph will already put you up past 9k rpms and this bike doesn't rev that high to begin with so your almost at the end of your powerband at that point. I've tried both stock and -1 tooth but honestly prefer stock setup for a perfect balance.
